Hyderabad, August 04, 2021....Weave India, an initiative to support weavers and promote Handlooms will be held in the city at Roots College of Design, Film and Media at Jubilee Hills on August 7th and 8th.

An initiative of Roots College of Design, Film and Media, the exhibition-cum-sale is organized on the eve of National Handlooms Day. It will be an event by the weavers for the weavers announced Ms Mutha Prerna Kirthi, Center Head of Roots College of Design, Film and Media. It will promote and bring the spotlight back on to the traditional art of weaving, and promote weaving as art and weavers as artists, she announced. "On National Handloom Day, we would like to salute all those associated with our vibrant handloom and handicrafts sector, she added.

It will be formally kicked off on August 7 on the day of National Handlooms Day. India Gets Its 39th World Heritage Site - Rudreswara (Ramappa) Temple

In yet another landmark achievement, India’s nomination of Rudreswara Temple, (also known as the Ramappa Temple) at Palampet, Mulugu district, near Warangal in the state of Telangana has been inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage list. The decision was taken at the 44th session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO today. Ramappa temple, a 13th century engineering marvel named after its architect, Ramappa, was proposed by the government as its only nomination for the UNESCO World Heritage site tag for the year 2019.

“Just inscribed as World Heritage Site: Kakatiya Rudeshwara (Ramappa) Temple, Telengana in India. Bravo! “ UNESCO announced in a tweet today.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has expressed happiness on UNESCO declaring Kakatiya Ramappa Temple a World Heritage site. He also urged the people to visit this majestic Temple complex and get a first-hand experience of it’s grandness.

Reacting to a tweet by UNESCO, the Prime Minister said;

"Excellent! Congratulations to everyone, specially the people of Telangana.

The iconic Ramappa Temple showcases the outstanding craftsmanship of great Kakatiya dynasty. I would urge you all to visit this majestic Temple complex and get a first-hand experience of it’s grandness."



A brief description on the Rudreswara(Ramappa) Temple




The Rudreswara temple was constructed in 1213 AD during the reign of the Kakatiya Empire by RecharlaRudra, a general of Kakatiya king Ganapati Deva.The presiding deity here is RamalingeswaraSwamy. It is also knownas the Ramappa temple, after the sculptor who executed the work in the temple for 40 years.

The temple complexes of Kakatiyas have a distinct style, technology and decoration exhibiting the influence of the Kakatiyan sculptor. The Ramappa Temple is a manifestation of this andoften stands as a testimonial to the Kakatiyan creative genius. The temple stands on a 6 feet high star-shaped platform with walls, pillars and ceilings adorned with intricate carvings that attest to the unique skill of the Kakatiyan sculptors.



The sculptural art and decoration specific to thef time and Kakatiyan Empire have an outstanding universal value. The distinct style of Kakatiyas for the gateways to temple complexes, unique only to this region confirm the highly evolved proportions of aesthetics in temple and town gateways in South India.

European merchants and travelers were mesmerized by the beauty of the temple and one such traveler had remarked that the temple was the "brightest star in the galaxy of medieval temples of the Deccan".

The Union Minister of Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Sri G Kishan Reddy thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his guidance and support as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) conferred the World Heritage inscription to Rudreswara Temple, (also known as the Ramappa Temple) at Palampet, Mulugu district, near Warangal in the state of Telangana.



“It gives me immense pleasure to share that @UNESCO has conferred the World Heritage inscription to Ramappa Temple atPalampet, Warangal, Telangana. On behalf of the nation, particularly from people of Telangana, I express my thanks to Hon'ble PM @narendramodi for his guidance & support” tweeted G Kishan Reddy.

The Minister also took the opportunity to congratulate the entire team of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and also thanked the Ministry of External Affairs.

“I congratulate the entire team of @ASIGoI for their untiring efforts towards making the Ramappa Temple a World Heritage Site. I would also like to thank the Ministry of External Affairs for their efforts under the guidance of Hon'ble PM @narendramodi”

Shri G Kishan Reddy Minister observed that owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting of the World Heritage Committee(WHC) of UNESCO could not be conducted in 2020 and the nominations for 2020 and those for 2021 were discussed in a series of online meetingsthat are currently underway. The discussion on Ramappa Temple took place on Sunday, the 25th July 2021.

Sh Reddy stated that there were 21 Members in the World Heritage Committee with China currently as the Chair of the Committee and credited the the success to the goodwill that PM Narendra Modi has built with UNESCO member countries during his tenure.

Over 2.8 Lakh Artefacts of 10 Govt Museums and Galleries Available Online




The Ministry of Culture has taken up the task of digitization of collections of ten (10) museums under its domain through Jatan programme since April 2014, even before the onset of Covid-19. 

Besides this, the Ministry also operates a scheme namely ‘Museum Grant Scheme’ under which financial assistance is provided to State Governments, Societies, Autonomous Bodies, Local Bodies and Trusts registered under the Societies Act for digitization of art objects in the museums across the country for making their images/catalogue available over the website for online access.

Amresh Singh, 38, a farmer from Karamdih village under Navinagar block of Aurangabad district of Bihar is reportedly the first farmer in India to cultivate hop-shoots. Six years ago, he sold a kilogram of hop-shoots in the international market for £1,000, which converts to about 1 lakh in Indian rupees.

India Gets Asia's Longest and world’s 5th Longest High Speed Track for Automobiles



Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Shri Prakash Javadekar today inaugurated NATRAX- the High Speed Track(HST) in Indore which is the longest such track in Asia. NATRAX, developed in an area of 1000 acres of land , is a one stop solution for all sorts of high speed performance tests for widest categories of vehicles from 2 wheelers to heavy tractor trailers.



Speaking at the e-inauguration of the world class 11.3 km High Speed Track, Shri Javadekar stated that India is destined to become a hub of automobiles, manufacturing, and spare parts. The Minister said, we are fast moving towards an ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat’ and all round efforts are being made in this direction. He said, his ministry is committed to fulfil Prime Minister’s dream of ensuring that India becomes a hub of auto manufacturing. He said, expanding automobiles and manufacturing industries will help generate the employment.

The Minister further said that projects in railways, highways and waterways which were languishing for years are today getting completed because of the strong political will.


Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Shri. Arjun Ram Meghwal, said, the government is promoting manufacturing and automobile industry as it will help empowering the nation at a larger scale.

The NATRAX centre has multiple test capabilities like measurements of maximum speed, acceleration, constant speed fuel consumption, emission tests through real road driving simulation, high speed handling and stability evaluation during manoeuvred such as lane change, high speed durability testing, etc. and is a Centre of excellence for Vehicle Dynamics.

HST is used for measuring the maximum speed capability of high-end cars like BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Tesla and so forth which cannot be measured on any of the Indian test tracks.Being centrally located in Madhya Pradesh, it is accessible to most of the major OEMs. Foreign OEMs will be looking at NATRAX HST for the development of prototype cars for Indian conditions . At present, foreign OEMs go to their respective high speed track abroad for high speed test requirements.
