Adani Group Eyes $1.5 Bn Loan to Accelerate Data Centre Expansion

Adani Group Eyes $1.5 Billion Loan to Accelerate Data Centre Expansion

The Adani Group is in discussions to raise about $1.5 billion through an offshore loan to support the expansion of its data centre business, according to reports citing people familiar with the matter.

Sources said AdaniConneX, Adani Group's data centre venture with EdgeConneX, is in talks with a consortium of lenders, including DBS Group, First Abu Dhabi Bank and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, for a proposed offshore loan facility.

Key Highlights

  • AdaniConneX, the group's data centre joint venture with EdgeConneX, is reportedly negotiating with lenders including DBS Group, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG).
  • Additional discussions are said to involve Natixis, ING Bank, and Société Générale.
  • The proposed loan could have a five-to-seven-year tenor, although pricing and final terms have not yet been agreed.
  • The financing aligns with Adani's broader plan to invest around $100 billion in data centres and other digital infrastructure by 2035.
  • The move comes after AdaniConneX reportedly secured an $800 million data centre loan earlier.

Why It Matters

India's data centre industry is expanding rapidly as demand for artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing infrastructure grows.

Government projections cited in reports suggest that India's data centre capacity could rise to nearly 8 GW by 2030, up from roughly 1.57 GW previously.

The funding effort also underscores intensifying competition among major Indian conglomerates.

  • Adani Group plans to invest about $100 billion in data centres and digital infrastructure by 2035.
  • Reliance Industries is also investing heavily in AI-related infrastructure, highlighting the race among India's largest business groups to build capacity for next-generation digital services.
  • The rapid expansion of AI applications and cloud computing is expected to drive substantial investments into India's data centre ecosystem over the coming years.

Allcargo Logistics Reports ₹33 Cr PAT in H1 FY27, Delivers ₹48 Cr Profit Turnaround

Allcargo Logistics Reports PAT of ₹33 Cr, a ₹48 Cr Turnaround, and 12% Gross Profit Growth in H1 FY27

H1FY27 revenue grows 7%, EBITDA rises 31% year-on-year amid continued Revenue Growth

Allcargo Logistics Limited, an integrated logistics provider through its Domestic Supply Chain, Express Distribution and Consultative Logistics businesses, announced its consolidated financial results for the period ended September 30, 2026, reporting an improvement in profitability supported by consistently improving customer service levels, pricing discipline and operational efficiencies.

The company's gross profit grew 13% year-on-year in Q2FY27 & 12% in H1FY27, while EBITDA increased 24% year-on-year in Q2FY27 & 31% in H1FY27. The company also reported a Pre-Exception PBT of ₹24 crore in Q2FY27, representing a healthy 167% year-on-year growth, compared with ₹9 crore in Q2FY26.

The improvement reflects the company's continued focus on strengthening operating margins across its domestic logistics businesses. In Express Distribution, sustained/consistent progress in service levels, enhanced customer engagement and improving network efficiencies have enabled revenue growth and yield improvement. In Consultative Logistics, higher throughput from existing customers on the back of efficient service, improved warehouse utilisation and cost optimisation contributed to a sequential improvement in gross margins.

Commenting on the performance, Mr. Ketan Kulkarni, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Allcargo Logistics Limited, said, “Our overall H1FY27 performance demonstrates a continued progress in strengthening the fundamentals of our domestic logistics business. The improvement in profitability and margins underlies the benefits of pricing discipline, cost recovery and process optimisation.

In Express Distribution, while growth moderated during this quarter, we adopted measures to improve customer engagement, service quality and network efficiency. Our goal now is to leverage this customer centric service delivery to drive volume growth while maintaining the pricing gains achieved over the past few quarters.

As we have entered the festive season, we are witnessing a recovery in volumes and expect this momentum to continue. In Consultative Logistics, higher volume from existing customers, improved warehouse utilisation and tighter cost management are supporting margins.

In H2FY27, profitable growth along with revenue expansion remains our priority. To attain that, we will continue to our three-pronged strategy – further improving service levels, increasing capacity utilisation and reducing operating costs.”

Financial Performance:

Overall Performance: The company reported a PAT of ₹19 crore in Q2FY27, a healthy 487% year-on-year growth, compared with loss of ₹(5) crore in Q2FY26. Revenue grew 3.4% year-on-year in Q2FY27, while H1FY27 revenue increased 7.1% year-on-year. Gross profit grew 13% year-on-year in Q2FY27 and 12% year-on-year in H1FY27. The EBITDA margin for H1FY27 stood at 13.4%, with EBITDA increasing 31% year-on-year.

Express Distribution: Shipment volumes remained broadly stable sequentially at approximately 3.11 lakh tonnes in Q2FY27, compared with 3.12 lakh tonnes in Q1FY27. Customer-segmentation initiatives, loyalty programmes, service-quality improvements and network optimisation are supporting volume recovery.

Consultative Logistics: Revenue increased by ₹9 crore during the quarter year-on-year, supported by higher throughput from existing customers. Also improved the company margins aided by cost optimisation and recovery of additional costs from customers.

Outlook: The company expects festive-season demand to support growth in Q3FY27, with automotive, electronics, heavy engineering and e-commerce contributing to volume growth. Priorities for H2FY27 include restoring volume growth, protecting yields, improving capacity utilisation and strengthening cash generation.

Ranked fourth[1] in the world amongst commercial vehicle manufacturers, the new enterprise combines deep industrial heritage, strong brands and complementary product portfolios spanning the breadth of commercial mobility, with a strategically diversified and growing presence across Europe, India, South America, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

Announcing this at a global press meet in Turin, Italy, Mr. N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons, Tata Motors and Iveco Group, said:
“Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Tata Motors and Iveco Group. Two strong and successful organisations, united by shared values, a common commitment to sustainable mobility and an ambition to shape the future of commercial transportation, have come together to create a truly global commercial mobility enterprise. We will invest for the long term, enable ideas and capabilities to flow in both directions, and harness our combined scale, reach and talent to shape a future of mobility that is safer, smarter, more connected and more sustainable. I take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the Italian Government, the regulatory authorities across jurisdictions, our employees, shareholders and all the stakeholders whose trust, cooperation and support have helped us reach this important milestone. I also warmly welcome our colleagues from Iveco Group into the Tata family and look forward to all that we can achieve together.”

The collective strength and expertise of Tata Motors and Iveco Group in advanced powertrains, alternative energy, software, connected technologies and manufacturing, will accelerate innovation, open new frontiers for growth, and bring cleaner, smarter mobility solutions to customers at greater speed and scale, helping shape the future of commercial mobility.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Girish Wagh, MD & CEO, Tata Motors, said: "We are pleased to turn our strategic vision into an operational reality alongside our colleagues at Iveco Group. Together we have a compelling opportunity to create greater value for our customers and stakeholders. Our ambition is to build a stronger enterprise by combining our strengths in engineering, new age technologies, sourcing, distribution and customer networks. We will accelerate innovation, broaden our reach and bring advanced solutions to customers faster and more competitively.”

United by a shared ambition for growth and green mobility, Tata Motors and Iveco Group will harness their combined scale, the talent of over 73,000 people and a two-way flow of engineering, technology and expertise to unlock the full potential of the combination.

Commenting on this fundamental milestone, Mr. Olof Persson, Chief Executive Officer, Iveco Group, said: “This is a defining moment for Iveco Group, and one we approach with confidence and great energy. We begin this new chapter proudly, with the brands, people, capabilities and industrial heritage that have shaped our company, alongside Tata Motors, a partner of great strength, with a deep understanding of the commercial vehicle business and a shared long-term perspective and commitment to sustainable transport. I want to thank our employees, customers, dealers, suppliers and partners for their trust and support. We now have the opportunity to build on everything Iveco Group has achieved, unlock new possibilities with Tata Motors and create an even stronger future.”

Strong Identities. Shared Ambition. Built for the Future.

The combination is founded on a clear principle: build on what makes Tata Motors and Iveco Group individually strong, while unlocking the greater possibilities they can create together.

Iveco Group will remain headquartered in Turin, Italy, with its brands, teams and industrial footprint retaining their distinct identities. Tata Motors will support Iveco Group’s existing strategy and investment plans, while both organisations collaborate to leverage their complementary strengths, deepen capabilities and create greater value for customers and stakeholders.

Global Scale. Worldwide Reach.

Together, Tata Motors and Iveco Group form a commercial mobility enterprise of significant global scale, with a presence in over 130 countries, sales volumes of ~590,000 units and combined revenues of ~€21 billion (INR 2,28,000 Cr.+).

This worldwide presence is supported by a strong industrial, innovation and customer network: 27 manufacturing sites, 25 R&D centres and approximately 9,300 sales and service centres.

Powering Mobility. Today and Tomorrow.

Across the combined enterprise, powertrain capabilities span the full spectrum: from conventional and established combustion technologies to natural gas to battery-electric, hydrogen and other emerging zero- and low-emission solutions.

This breadth of technologies, fuel choices and applications creates a powerful foundation to pursue multiple pathways to decarbonisation, addressing different customer needs and market realities while accelerating the transition towards cleaner commercial mobility.

For Customers. For Growth. For the Future.

The power of the combination lies in complementarity.

Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle portfolio spans sub-1-tonne to 55-tonne cargo vehicles and 10-seater to 51-seater mass-mobility solutions, with deep capabilities in India and high-growth emerging markets of Asia, Middle East & North Africa.

Iveco Group brings extensive capabilities across light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles and city and intercity buses, with strong positions across Europe and Latin America. FPT adds significant powertrain capabilities across on-road, off-road, marine and power-generation applications.

Together, this means more choice for customers: a broader range of vehicles, technologies and powertrain solutions, backed by the capabilities and reach to address increasingly diverse mobility needs.

Together, these strengths also create new possibilities to develop and deploy the next generation of commercial mobility solutions. Greater scale will help bring innovation to market faster and more competitively, while building on the distinct operational strengths of both organisations giving customers access to stronger technologies, capabilities, solutions and market reach across the combined enterprise.

Importantly, the growth opportunity extends beyond Tata Motors and Iveco Group. It creates a larger canvas for ecosystem partners - suppliers, dealers and distributors - to grow with the combined enterprise, access new markets and opportunities, and collectively deliver greater value to customers around the world.

73,000+ people. A larger world of opportunity.

At the heart of this new global enterprise are more than 73,000 people across Tata Motors and Iveco Group, bringing together deep experience, diverse perspectives and world-class capabilities.

For employees, the combination opens new opportunities for collaboration, learning and professional growth. Technology, engineering expertise, market knowledge and best practices will flow in both directions, enabling both teams to learn from each other, innovate faster and take proven solutions and capabilities to more customers and markets around the world.

Seamless Transition

For customers, dealers, suppliers and business partners, the transition is seamless. Existing customer contracts, dealer and supplier relationships, warranties, aftermarket commitments and captive financing solutions continue unchanged and are supported by the same dedicated teams and networks.

The Road Ahead

With strong roots in India and Europe and a significant presence across Latin America and other international markets, Tata Motors and Iveco Group now move forward with a shared ambition: to create a stronger, more innovative and more resilient commercial mobility enterprise, capable of leading through the profound transformation underway in transportation.

The immediate priority is continuity. The longer-term opportunity is greater: to use the combined strength of the two organisations to accelerate innovation, expand customer choice, create new growth opportunities and advance the transition towards cleaner, safer and more intelligent mobility.

Sachin Tendulkar Invests in Metasports Interactive, the Company Behind the Game Hitwicket

Global cricketing icon Sachin Tendulkar became a strategic investor in Metasports Interactive, a mobile-first competitive sports gaming company. With this partnership, the company looks to grow its flagship cricket strategy title, Hitwicket, to 100 million downloads within the next 3 years.

Founded by Kashyap Reddy and Keerti Singh, the game Hitwicket has built a player base of over 20 million users across 120 countries since its launch in 2020. The game has witnessed a 100% growth in revenue in the last 6 months, with players spending an average of 51 minutes a day in the game.

Hitwicket is a leading competitive multiplayer cricket game that is built around strategic decision-making and brings tactical thinking to competitive cricket gaming. This emphasis on cricketing strategy drew Sachin Tendulkar to the game and influenced his decision to invest in Metasports Interactive. Tendulkar features across Hitwicket’s in-game experiences, content and brand activations.

Talking about the strategic association, Sachin Tendulkar said, “Hitwicket stood out to me for how it brings the strategic thinking behind cricket into the game. Cricket has always involved reading the bowler, assessing the field and deciding the right approach for every ball. Hitwicket captures that decision-making, going beyond reflexes to recreate how a cricketer thinks in the middle. The game translates that strategic dimension into an engaging experience for players. I enjoyed playing the game, believe in what the team is building, and that makes the association feel natural.”

Sachin Tendulkar Invests in Metasports Interactive, the Company Behind the Game Hitwicket
Kashyap Reddy, Co-Founder and CEO, Metasports Interactive

Commenting on the association, Kashyap Reddy, Co-Founder and CEO, Metasports Interactive, said, “Hitwicket has built a distinct proposition in cricket gaming by making strategic decision-making central to the experience, and Sachin Tendulkar recognised this unique difference. Interacting with Sachin Tendulkar is helping us understand how elite cricketers think on the field and further improve the game engagement. Our 20 million players, spending 51 min per day in the game, demonstrate the engagement this approach can drive. Tendulkar’s belief in what we’ve built, together with the growth capital behind us, lets us take cricket strategy to every cricket fan in the world.

The partnership follows the USD 20 million user acquisition funding by London-based Metica in April 2026. Hitwicket’s strong monetisation metrics, deep player retention, and the consistent quality of its user acquisition data gave Metica the confidence to deploy capital at scale. Hitwicket has grown from an Indian cricket game into a global strategy title.

About Metasports Interactive:

Metasports is a mobile-first competitive sports gaming company building multiplayer sports games designed for long-term engagement and global scale. RealVantage Secures Hong Kong SFC Type 1 Licence, Strengthening Its Presence in Asia’s Leading Financial Hubs

RealVantage Secures Hong Kong SFC Type 1 Licence, Strengthening Its Presence in Asia’s Leading Financial Hubs

Strategic expansion broadens access to global private real estate investment opportunities for Hong Kong’s professional investors, family offices and wealth managers

RealVantage (‘the Group”), a Singapore-headquartered private real estate investment platform, today announced that its Hong Kong subsidiary, RV HK Limited, has received a Type 1 (Dealing in Securities) licence (CE No. BXH385) from Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) in September 2026.

The licence marks an important milestone in the Group’s regional expansion and establishes a regulated presence in Singapore and Hong Kong, two of Asia’s major financial and wealth management centres. Under its licence conditions, RV HK Limited may deal in collective investment schemes and provide services to professional investors only.

Founded in Singapore in 2019, RealVantage has executed 171 real estate investments, of which 54 have been fully realised. The Group combines investment expertise, an established network of real estate partners and proprietary technology to connect investors with private real estate opportunities across developed global markets.

Hong Kong will serve as a strategic base for the Group to strengthen relationships with family offices, external asset managers, private wealth intermediaries and other professional investors, while expanding its regional distribution capabilities.

“Hong Kong is a natural next step in RealVantage’s regional expansion. As one of Asia’s leading wealth management centres, it has a sophisticated investor base looking for diversification and access to global private markets,” said Keith Ong, Co-founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of RealVantage. “Our ambition is to build a leading private real estate investment platform in Asia, bringing together institutional investment discipline, carefully selected opportunities and technology-driven accessibility. A regulated presence in Hong Kong is an important part of that strategy.”

Building a stronger regional investment platform

Through RV HK Limited, eligible professional investors in Hong Kong will be able to access collective investment schemes investing in private real estate, subject to the applicable offering terms and regulatory requirements. RealVantage Group will continue to undertake investment sourcing, due diligence, structuring and asset management, while RV HK Limited focuses on its licensed distribution activities and investor relationships in Hong Kong.

RealVantage’s wider platform provides access to different investment approaches, including real estate debt and equity, through deal-by-deal opportunities and professionally managed investment structures. Its investment focus spans sectors such as logistics, living, hospitality, data centres and other selected property strategies, with a disciplined approach to underwriting and risk management.

The Group believes that Hong Kong’s depth of private wealth, mature financial services ecosystem and connections to regional and international capital make it a logical market for long-term development. The expansion builds on RealVantage’s existing investment and operational foundations rather than establishing an entirely new investment capability.

“Our priority is to build enduring relationships with Hong Kong’s professional investor community, backed by a strong compliance culture and a clear understanding of investor needs,” said Ivan Ho, Chief Executive Officer of RealVantage HK Limited. “We will draw on the Group’s investment experience and technology infrastructure while maintaining the regulatory standards expected of a licensed Hong Kong intermediary.”

Focused on governance and long-term relationships

RealVantage’s investment process includes investment committee oversight, due diligence and monitoring through the lifecycle of each investment. In Hong Kong, RV HK Limited is subject to the SFC’s ongoing regulatory requirements, including applicable conduct, compliance, anti-money laundering and professional investor verification obligations.

Dispatch Network Raises ₹5 Crore Pre-Seed Round Led by Antler India to Boost Rider Earnings with AI-Powered Logistics

Dispatch Network Raises ₹5 Crore Pre-Seed Round Led by Antler India to Boost Rider Earnings with AI-Powered Logistics

The Pune-based last-mile network is doubling its order volumes every month, with rider retention 80% better than the industry average.

Dispatch, a last-mile delivery network built around what a rider earns, has raised ₹5 crore pre-seed led by Antler India, with participation from angel investors Krishi Fagwani, founder of Thrive, Yashin Mahadevia and Parth Modwadhia. This is the company's first public funding announcement.

The problem

Every delivery app today has its own high-demand hours and likewise slack periods. The result is that riders spend much of their shift waiting or riding empty, up to 50% of their kilometres without an order. The rider pays for every one of those kilometres. Nobody pays the rider.

Dispatch's view is that the fleet that can sustainably pay riders the most will win supply, and the only way to pay more is to make every hour on the road more productive.

What Dispatch is building

Dispatch is building a foundation AI model for intracity logistics and mobility. It decides which order a rider should take next and where that rider should wait for the one after, sequencing work across platforms instead of reacting to one order at a time. Traditional fleets chase total order volume, while Dispatch is built to maximise what one rider can do. While other fleets let the rider choose which order they want to do, Dispatch, on the other hand, picks each order for every rider, which it says leads to better sequencing and a significant reduction in empty miles.

This approach has helped Dispatch outperform industry average rider retention numbers.

Dispatch’s Spatio-Temporal Foundation Model

The Large Logistics Spatio-Temporal Model is a foundation model for logistics and mobility, and it learns from viewing the city every minute with millions of parameters, unlike LLMs.

It assigns every order Dispatch delivers, and every decision, and what happened next, becomes training data.

Progress since the round

  • 100,000+ deliveries since launch, doubling every month: 3,014 in June and 55,000 in October
  • 3500 deliveries a day today.
  • Two-thirds fewer empty miles
  • Riders take home about 55% more a month, against the industry average.
  • Rider retention is 80% better than the industry average.
  • Launching the 2nd city, Mumbai, in November
Dispatch delivers for India's major food and quick-commerce platforms, including Zomato, Swiggy, Zepto, Instamart and BigBasket, and for hundreds of restaurants and stores, through its direct APIs and through ONDC.

"There's no chance of coming back empty-handed," said Rahul, 26, a Dispatch rider in Pune. "As soon as I come online, an order comes in fast; I don't have to go around empty looking for hotspots. I earn more because I save more."

What riders are saying

“Riders need more orders, but more importantly, they need the right next order. Every idle minute we remove goes back into a rider's earnings, and that's how we win supply. The last mile ecosystem is fundamentally challenged by design, with inefficiencies at every step. On one hand there is immense unmet demand due to rider shortages; on the other, riders ride up to 50% of their time empty, without an order. Every platform fights for supply; no one makes money. It's absurd. We're reimagining how the last mile works from the ground up; it needs to be fixed structurally across all stakeholders.”, Rajit Arya, Co-founder and CEO, Dispatch Network

“Most of the world's deliveries still run on rules someone wrote by hand. We're building the decision layer for last-mile delivery: which order, which rider, and where they should be next. Pune is our training ground, and every delivery makes the model sharper. The goal is simple: make every hour a rider spends on the road the best-paid hour they can find.”–Navneeth Kannan, Co-founder, Product and AI, Dispatch Network

“Most of last-mile delivery has been optimised for the platform. Rajit and Navneeth started from the rider, and that's what we backed. They've spent half a decade close to the people who actually make these deliveries, and in a few months' time, they've shown that a rider-first network can scale. If every hour on the road keeps getting more productive, supply will follow.” said, Nitin Sharma, Partner, Antler India

Use of funds

The funds will be used to grow the AI team behind LL[ST]M. Dispatch's next goal is 50,000 orders a day across five cities.

About Dispatch Network

Dispatch Network (Artem Network Private Limited) is a last-mile delivery network that uses proprietary AI to make every rider hour more productive. Co-founder Rajit Arya has worked in electric mobility since 2009 and has been working with delivery riders for the past 5 years. Co-founder Navneeth Kannan is a product architect and engineer with a decade in mobility systems. The company moved into last-mile delivery in 2026 and went live in Pune in June 2026.

India Lands World’s Largest Green Hydrogen Orders as Japan, Germany and Korea Line Up

India Lands World’s Largest Green Hydrogen Orders as Japan, Germany and Korea Line Up

India has achieved a major milestone in the green energy sector, with Indian companies signing the world's largest green hydrogen offtake commitments, totalling 5,55,610 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA). This positions India as a global leader in green hydrogen supply commitments.

Key Highlights

  • 23 offtake contracts have been signed since the launch of the National Green Hydrogen Mission in 2023.
  • 18 agreements were signed in 2026 alone, covering more than 4 lakh MTPA of green hydrogen equivalent supply.
  • More than 70% of the contracted volume is earmarked for exports, primarily to Japan, Germany and South Korea.
  • The projects are expected to attract around ₹90,000 crore (US$9.5 billion) in investment.

Major International Deals

  • Reliance Industries signed a long-term green ammonia supply agreement worth over US$3 billion with Samsung C&T of South Korea, with deliveries expected from 2028.
  • AM Green secured a long-term agreement to supply green ammonia to Germany through the H2Global mechanism.
  • ACME Group signed a deal to supply 4,88,000 MTPA of green ammonia to Japan’s IHI Corporation, along with a separate green methanol supply agreement with Mitsubishi Gas Chemical.
  • L&T and ITOCHU formed a joint venture to supply 3,00,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually to Japan.

Why It Matters

Green hydrogen projects typically require firm purchase commitments before financing can be secured. These signed offtake agreements provide the demand certainty required for project financing, making India one of the few countries with a large bankable pipeline of green hydrogen exports.

The commitments already account for roughly 11% of India's target to produce 5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030 under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.

Bottom Line: India is rapidly emerging as a global green hydrogen export hub, with Japan, Germany and South Korea becoming major future buyers and billions of dollars in investment expected to flow into the sector.

Google’s AI Satellite Just Wrote a Poem From Space. Why That Matters Far More Than the Poem

Google’s AI Satellite Just Wrote a Poem From Space. Why That Matters Far More Than the Poem

A tiny three-line haiku transmitted from orbit may have marked the beginning of an entirely new era in computing. Google has successfully run an AI model aboard a satellite in space and received its response back on Earth, achieving what it calls the first-ever AI response from a data centre-class TPU operating in orbit.

The result was a simple poem:
Blue marble below
Data streams in silent grace
Starlight feeds my core.

While the haiku itself grabbed headlines, the real breakthrough lies behind the words. The experiment demonstrates that advanced AI hardware can receive instructions, process machine-learning workloads, and communicate results from space, bringing Google's ambitious vision of orbital AI data centres one step closer to reality.

The Milestone Behind the Poetry

The achievement comes from Project Suncatcher, Google's long-term research initiative exploring whether future AI infrastructure could be hosted in space instead of relying entirely on Earth-based data centres.

Google launched its prototype satellite aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rideshare mission carrying more than 100 spacecraft. After spending several weeks commissioning onboard systems and conducting preliminary tests, engineers were ready to attempt a real AI workload.

The task chosen was intentionally simple: generate a haiku about being in space.

Engineers transmitted the prompt to the satellite, where Google's Gemma 4 AI model was running on an onboard Tensor Processing Unit (TPU). The AI generated the poem and transmitted it back to Earth during a communication window, proving the system could successfully complete an end-to-end AI workflow in orbit.

Google described the event as Project Suncatcher's "Hello World" moment, a reference to the traditional first test performed when validating a new computing platform.

Why Run AI in Space?

At first glance, moving data centres into orbit sounds like science fiction. But Google's reasoning is rooted in a very real challenge: AI's growing appetite for energy.

As AI models become larger and more sophisticated, traditional data centres require enormous amounts of electricity and cooling infrastructure. Project Suncatcher is investigating whether space could eventually provide a scalable alternative.

According to Google, satellites in low Earth orbit can access near-continuous sunlight and may generate significantly more solar power than equivalent systems on Earth.

The company is exploring whether future networks of satellites could harness this energy to run large-scale machine-learning workloads in orbit.

The long-term vision involves constellations of interconnected computing satellites capable of sharing workloads through high-speed optical links.

In theory, such systems could reduce reliance on land, power grids and cooling infrastructure while opening entirely new possibilities for global AI computing.

What's Inside the Satellite?

The prototype spacecraft carries four Google Tensor Processing Units, the specialised AI accelerators used throughout the company's machine-learning infrastructure.

However, there is a significant limitation.

The satellite generates approximately 1 kilowatt of electricity, which is not enough to run all four TPUs simultaneously. Current power constraints mean only one TPU can operate at a time, and only for roughly 20 minutes during a communication pass.

Despite these constraints, Google's engineers have now demonstrated that a data centre-class processor can successfully perform AI inference in orbit.

The Real Test Is Just Beginning

Writing poetry was never the mission's ultimate goal.

The true purpose of Project Suncatcher is to answer a much harder question: Can advanced AI hardware survive and operate reliably in space?

Space presents several extreme challenges for modern electronics:
  • Radiation exposure
  • Extreme temperature fluctuations
  • Vacuum conditions
  • Limited power availability
  • Difficult maintenance and repair environments
One of the biggest concerns is radiation-induced "bit flips", where energetic particles alter stored data and potentially corrupt computations. Google has already tested TPUs in particle accelerators on Earth, but real orbital conditions provide a far more meaningful assessment.

The company says its next series of experiments will focus on analysing how TPUs perform under prolonged radiation exposure and thermal stress in orbit.

These results could determine whether orbital AI infrastructure is merely an interesting experiment or a viable future technology.

What Comes Next?

Google's roadmap extends beyond a single satellite.

The company plans to launch additional TPU-equipped satellites as the next milestone for Project Suncatcher. Those spacecraft are expected to feature higher power generation and inter-satellite optical communication links that could allow multiple satellites to work together on distributed computing tasks.

The broader ambition is to move from a single experimental platform toward a networked orbital computing architecture capable of handling meaningful AI workloads.

Whether that vision can be achieved remains uncertain. The economics, engineering complexity, launch costs, reliability requirements and communication challenges remain formidable.

Still, the first step has now been taken.

More Than a Poem

The poem itself will not change the world. But what produced it might.

For decades, space technology has focused primarily on communication, navigation and Earth observation. Google's latest experiment points toward a future where satellites are not merely relays for information but active computing platforms performing sophisticated AI processing beyond the atmosphere.

Project Suncatcher remains an early-stage research effort, and many technical hurdles stand between today's orbital haiku and tomorrow's space-based AI infrastructure.

Yet the significance of this moment is difficult to ignore.

When a satellite looks down at Earth and writes, "Starlight feeds my core," it is not really showcasing poetry.

It is demonstrating that the next frontier in artificial intelligence may not be another data centre on Earth, but a computer floating hundreds of kilometres above it.

IN-SPACe Offers ₹67 Crore to Four More Indian Space Companies Under Technology Adoption Fund

IN-SPACe Offers ₹67 Crore to Four More Indian Space Companies Under Technology Adoption Fund

New selections take the number of companies supported under TAF to seven, with ₹67.15 crore in funding offered for the development of critical indigenous space technologies

The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) has selected Maharashtra-based Manastu Space, MumbaiSemi (IMumbai Semiconductor Pvt. Ltd.) and Inspecity Space Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., and Bengaluru-based VyomIC (AeroDome Technologies Pvt. Ltd.) for financial support under its Technology Adoption Fund (TAF). The latest selections will receive funding offers totalling ₹67.15 crore to develop indigenous technologies across satellite propulsion, in-orbit servicing, precision timing systems for space as well as ground applications and NavIC enabled GNSS System on Chip (SoC).

Under the latest round, Manastu Space, Mumbai has been offered ₹22.08 crore to develop an iodine-based Hall Effect Thruster for small satellites. The integrated propulsion system will combine a thruster, power processing unit and modular iodine feed and tank system. The use of solid iodine as a propellant is expected to eliminate the need for high-pressure tanks and simplify fuelling and integration, offering a more compact and cost-efficient alternative to conventional xenon-based systems. It is notable that only a few companies globally have either developed or in the process of developing Iodine based Hall Effect Thruster. Manastu will be the first Indian company to develop such technology.

Inspecity Space Laboratories has been offered ₹21.18 crore to develop a refuellable six-degree-of-freedom propulsion system for microsatellites. Designed around a green bipropellant architecture, the system will incorporate an integrated refuelling port and self-pressurised propellant arrangement. The technology is intended to support more flexible satellite manoeuvring and enable future in-space servicing applications.

VyomIC has been offered ₹12.55 crore to develop highly stable and secure clocks for space applications. The proposed system will combine miniature atomic clocks and high-performance oven-controlled crystal oscillators with adaptive filtering and advanced steering algorithms. Although the primary objective of this technology is to cater for LEO-PNT services, it can also find its application in the time requirement for satellite constellations, deep space exploration and compact space platforms.

MumbaiSemi has been offered ₹11.34 crore to develop an indigenous, multi-channel NavIC and GPS receiver system-on-chip (SoC) integrating RF and digital components. The reconfigurable chip is being designed for standard positioning and wideband applications, with the objective of strengthening domestic capabilities in satellite navigation receiver technology. The development of SoC is very significant for the proliferation of home grown NavIC system across all the Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) applications.

Commenting on the selections, Dr Pawan Goenka, Chairman, IN-SPACe, said, “The two spacecraft propulsion technologies are selected with an objective that these products are being developed for the first time in India and they a high commercial potential. The development of high stable and precision clock and time generation and the development of indigenous SoC for GNSS including NavIC is going to significantly reduce the dependence of foreign chipsets. Through these technologies, India can build a more complete domestic space ecosystem, expand industry participation and create export opportunities for Indian companies.”

The latest announcement builds on IN-SPACe's first selection under TAF in June 2026, when Astrobase Space Technologies, SatSure Analytics India and TM2SPACE Technologies were selected for funding to develop technologies spanning launch vehicle propulsion, Earth observation analytics and satellite navigation systems.

The selected projects will be implemented against defined milestones, with funding and progress monitored in accordance with the scheme's requirements. The support is intended to help companies advance technology development and bridge the gap between early-stage innovation and wider adoption.

The Technology Adoption Fund is an IN-SPACe initiative designed to support Indian non-governmental entities (NGEs) in absorbing, adapting and commercialising advanced space technologies. Through financial support for technology development and adoption, the scheme seeks to strengthen India's domestic space capabilities and enable greater participation by Indian industry in the growing global space economy.

ISRO Launches NVS-03, Boosting India’s Independent Space-Based Timekeeping Network

ISRO To Launch NVS-03, Boosting India’s Independent Space-Based Timekeeping Network

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has launched the NVS-03 navigation satellite aboard the GSLV-F18 rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. The mission is significant because NVS-03 will carry India’s third indigenous atomic clock into space, strengthening the country's independent timekeeping and navigation capabilities.

The NVS-03 satellite carries Indigenous Atomic clock, along with the procured Atomic clocks. It also includes L1 signal in addition to existing L5/S signals with Coverage over India land mass and a region extending 1500 km around Indian geopolitical boundary.

Why is this important?

Atomic clocks are the most accurate timekeeping devices available. Satellite navigation systems such as NavIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation) rely on extremely precise timing signals to determine location accurately. Even tiny timing errors can lead to incorrect positioning data.

What is “time sovereignty”?

Time sovereignty refers to a nation's ability to maintain and distribute its own precise time reference without depending on foreign systems. By deploying indigenous atomic clocks in the NavIC constellation, India reduces its reliance on external navigation and timing infrastructure, which is critical for sectors such as:
  • Telecommunications
  • Banking and financial markets
  • Power grids
  • Transportation
  • Defence and strategic operations
To recall, in July this year India officially launched a secure “White Rabbit” precision timing network to disseminate Indian Standard Time (IST), reducing reliance on foreign GPS-based timing systems and strengthening critical infrastructure.

These two initiatives are closely linked because they address different layers of India's sovereign timing infrastructure.

  • NVS-03's indigenous atomic clock generates highly accurate timing signals in space through the NavIC satellite constellation.
  • The White Rabbit precision timing network, developed to distribute Indian Standard Time (IST) across the country, acts as the ground-based dissemination system that delivers this precise time to users and critical infrastructure.

Key features of NVS-03

  • Third satellite in ISRO's next-generation NavIC series.
  • Carries an indigenous atomic clock along with procured atomic clocks.
  • Adds the L1 navigation signal alongside existing L5 and S-band services, improving compatibility with a wider range of user devices.
  • Designed to provide navigation coverage across India and up to 1,500 km beyond its borders.

NVS-03

Bigger picture

The mission will help strengthen NavIC, India's regional alternative to GPS. NavIC was developed to ensure that India has an independent positioning, navigation and timing service fully under its own control, particularly important during emergencies or geopolitical tensions.

In short, NVS-03 is not just another satellite launch. It is a strategic investment in India's technological self-reliance, navigation capability, and control over precise national timekeeping.

While NVS-03 strengthens India's ability to generate precise sovereign time from space, the White Rabbit network ensures that Indian Standard Time is securely distributed across the country's critical infrastructure, creating a fully indigenous timing ecosystem.

Montra Electric Brings 15-Minute Rapid Charging to SUPER AUTO FX with Exponent Energy

Montra Electric Brings 15-Minute Rapid Charging to SUPER AUTO FX with Exponent Energy

Powered by Exponent Energy’s rapid charging technology, the 15-minute rapid-charge option cuts waiting time, so that customers spend more time on the road and more time earning. Available initially in Bengaluru, Chennai and Delhi NCR

Montra Electric, India's full-spectrum electric commercial vehicle brand, today announced a 15-minute rapid charge option for the SUPER AUTO FX, its electric passenger three-wheeler, powered by Exponent Energy’s rapid-charging technology. The collaboration helps drivers minimise charging downtime and get back on the road sooner. This will be introduced initially in Bengaluru, Chennai and Delhi NCR, where customers can access compatible Exponent Energy charging hubs.

Fast charging is still uncommon in the L5M electric passenger three-wheeler category. With the SUPER AUTO FX, Montra Electric is bringing a segment-leading proposition to it: rapid charge in just 15 minutes.

The announcement follows from the thinking behind ‘Pehle Aap’, the philosophy that guides everything Montra Electric builds. It means putting the customer first, understanding the realities of their everyday work, and designing solutions around what matters to them. Behind it sits the brand's belief in Izzat: that those who earn their living behind the wheel of a SUPER AUTO deserve respect, and products that respect their time.

For these customers, range and charging downtime have a direct bearing on how much they can earn in a day. Every hour spent waiting to charge is an hour without a fare. Montra Electric listened to that challenge and worked with Exponent Energy to engineer an answer around it.

The SUPER AUTO FX already offers a 150+ km true on-road range, with the option of a 15-minute rapid charge. This makes the proposition even more compelling: less time waiting, more time on the road, and a greater opportunity to earn, without the worry of charging downtime.

Commenting on the launch Mr. Deependra Sharma, CEO, e-3W, Montra Electric (TI Clean Mobility), said, "Pehle Aap is how every conversation at Montra Electric begins. We start by asking what matters to our customer, and for the people who run a SUPER AUTO every day, and one of the biggest worries has been the time lost waiting to charge. The more the vehicle is on the road, the more customer can earn. A full charge in 15 minutes gives that time back to them. We did not see this as adding one more feature. We saw it as solving a real problem that our customers face, and that is what Pehle Aap means to us."

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Arun Vinayak, Founder & CEO, Exponent Energy, said, “We’re proud to partner with Montra Electric once again. Our work together in electric cargo three-wheelers has shown what’s possible when the vehicle and its energy ecosystem are designed to work together. We’re excited to now take this partnership into passenger mobility with the SUPER AUTO FX. Exponent’s battery technology, city-wide charging network and 2.25 lakh km battery warranty help make electric mobility more practical for drivers. Montra has brought a fresh design sensibility to the auto segment, raising the bar for what an Indian auto can look and feel like. We’re glad to bring our energy technology to it.”

Earlier this month, Montra Electric, Exponent Energy and Exponent ONE introduced ONE Pass, a fully variable, pay-per-use Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) solution for Montra Electric's three-wheelers, further extending Montra Electric’s Pehle Aap philosophy by aligning energy costs with vehicle usage and making electric mobility more practical for the drivers.

SUPER AUTO FX: Built around the customer

Along with fast charging, the SUPER AUTO FX strengthens the overall product proposition with:
  • 15-minute rapid charge, enabled through the collaboration with Exponent Energy
  • 150+ km on-road true range
  • 32% segment-leading gradability
  • 60 Nm torque
  • Hill Hold Assist
  • Car-like start with a push button
  • In-cabin light, 12v mobile charging socket
  • Best in class warranty: 5 years / 2.25 lakh kms *
  • Other comfort, convenience and performance features that reinforce the SUPER AUTO's customer-first proposition
Together, these features reflect a simple idea: technology should work for the customer, not the other way round.

SUPER AUTO FX customers can access rapid charging through Exponent Energy’s network of 200+ chargers across Bengaluru, Chennai and Delhi NCR.
