KV Toys India Limited, one of India's leading toy makers with a strong Made-in-India range, has entered into a binding term sheet to acquire a 50% stake in Play Panda Private Limited, for a consideration of up to INR 45 million. The transaction, which remains subject to the execution of definitive agreements and customary closing conditions, marks KV Toys' strategic entry into the fast-growing educational and STEM toys segment. Once completed, the deal aims to combine Play Panda's product innovation capabilities with KV Toys' manufacturing and distribution strength.

Play Panda was started to make learning fun and easy for kids. Over the last few years it has built a solid name in educational toys. Its products focus on STEM-based learning and help children build creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking Play Panda products are available at Hamleys, Amazon, and other leading retail stores.

KV Toys already has strong manufacturing units and a wide distribution network across India. Play Panda brings design strength and a portfolio of learning-focused toys. Together, the two aim to grow faster and reach more parents looking for toys that teach while kids play.

12 Women to Receive STEM Study Support Through Prodigy Finance and NovaGrad’s ProdiSHE Award

Prodigy Finance, together with NovaGrad, have launched ProdiSHE, a new initiative created to support women who want to study STEM subjects abroad.

The idea came from a simple reality that their teams kept seeing. More women are applying for science, technology, engineering, and maths courses overseas, yet many still struggle to make it to the starting line. In some cases, it is the cost of an application fee. In others, it is a visa appointment, or the worry of paying for life abroad. For some students, there is also a lack of support at home. Even USD 200 can be a big amount for a student from a rural area in India or Africa with a big dream and limited financial backing.

Prodigy Finance and NovaGrad say the award is meant to help students at that exact point, when ability and ambition are there, yet money becomes the reason a plan is delayed or dropped.

Sonal Kapoor, Global Chief Business Officer at Prodigy Finance, said, “We’ve seen a growing number of women wanting to study STEM abroad over the past year.. Women often face more difficulties when deciding to study overseas. Sometimes, even a small financial help, whether it’s a 1,000 USD award or an application fee waiver, can make a real difference for the one in need. The award aims to support students who genuinely need help in taking their next step. The selection process is merit based. Each student will be asked to submit a short essay explaining their goals, their background, and how studying abroad could shape their future. They hope that this support reaches students who are not only talented but also need practical financial help to move forward.

The competition includes two opportunities for eligible students.

Through Prodigy Finance, eligible students who apply for a Prodigy Finance loan during the campaign period may be considered for the ProdiSHE Impact Award. Two recipients from India will receive USD 1,000 off their loan amount.

Through NovaGrad, students who apply to selected partner universities during the campaign period may be considered for application fee reimbursement of up to USD 200. Ten recipients will be selected globally, and a Prodigy Finance loan is not required.

Applications are now officially open at the Prodigy Finance official website and NovaGrad and will close on 10 May 2026. Selected students will be announced by 10th June 2026 on the Prodigy Finance and NovaGrad official sites.

Women planning to pursue STEM degrees abroad are encouraged to apply before the deadline.

GlobalLogic, a Hitachi Group company and a leader in digital product engineering, in collaboration with the India STEM Foundation, inaugurated the 'Robo Shiksha Kendra' a STEM Innovation Lab at Renuka Swarup Memorial Girls' High School in Pune, Maharashtra. Launched under the company’s flagship CSR initiative “Educate to Empower”, the lab aims to provide immersive, hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education to 763 girl students from grades 6 to 9 and deliver structured training to teachers—equipping them to integrate robotics, artificial intelligence, electronics, and coding into mainstream classroom learning.

The state-of-the-art facility is designed to nurture innovation, critical thinking, and technical confidence among underserved students. Senior dignitaries including Ms. Kamladevi Awate - Deputy Director- SCERT, Maharashtra and Mr. Sudhanshu Sharma, Founder & Director, India STEM Foundation graced the inauguration along with the GlobalLogic leadership. Their presence underscored the growing recognition of the importance of early access to digital tools and emerging technologies for India’s youth.

Siemens Stiftung (Foundation), a non-profit foundation established by Siemens AG in 2008, has recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Siemens Limited to deploy Experimento India in schools.

Experimento India is a collaborative project launched by Siemens Stiftung, Siemens Limited (India), and Pratham Education Foundation.

Experimento India's digital Open Education Resources (OER), integrated into Project Jigyaasa of Siemens Limited will be accessible to all school students.

The OER are integrated into Siemens Limited's Project Jigyaasa, which is active in over 170 government schools.

Experimento from Siemens Stiftung offers a diverse range of multimedia materials: from video activities for project-based learning, lesson plans for educators, student worksheets, quizzes and question banks. Its integration with Project Jigyaasa (curiosity-based learning initiative), will further enhance the learning outcomes in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects. Pratham Foundation is the project implementation partner.

Infosys Foundation Grants ₹ 27 Crore to Ashoka University, Sonepat for Building Advanced Chemical Biology Lab Augmentating Scientific Research

The Infosys Foundation, the philanthropic and CSR arm of Infosys, has partnered with Ashoka University, Sonepat, Haryana to enhance scientific research. The two have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the university's Chemical Biology Lab.

The foundation has committed a grant of INR 27 crore to upgrade the lab into a world-class facility.

This initiative will provide undergraduate students at Ashoka University with access to advanced equipment like Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis (SEM-EDAX), High-Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM), Imaging Mass Cytometry, and Spatial Nucleic Acid Hybridization System. The goal is to enhance education and research opportunities, enabling students to excel in science and research.

The Advanced Chemical Biology Lab will also host periodic courses, conferences, and workshops to foster awareness and opportunities within the Indian science community. It aims to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration among departments and institutions, thereby elevating Ashoka University's national and international visibility as a premier destination for science education and research.

Taking a step towards enabling students to go beyond working on metal, fabrications, clay, and plaster of Paris and providing students with more avenues to develop hands-on skills in a chemical lab environment, the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) has embarked on setting up its own Tinkerers’ Lab. This facility promotes hands-on learning towards innovation. The lab, which was inaugurated today, has been established with funding from Alkyl Amines Chemicals Limited.

Alky Amines is a leading manufacturer of aliphatic amines in India. This lab has been set up as a part of their CSR initiative, with the support of Maker Bhavan Foundation (MBF), California, USA. The lab will facilitate hands-on learning for chemical engineering students, equipping them with a physical environment that is conducive to technological innovation.

Padma Vibhushan awardee and Emeritus Professor of Eminence, Institute of Chemical Technology, Prof. M.M. Sharma, the Chief Guest, inaugurated the event, along with Padma Bhushan Prof. J.B. Padma Vibhushan awardee Prof. M.M. Sharma said, “Our country is at a stage where it is imperative that we provide a platform for people to explore their creativity, collaborate with others, and develop innovative solutions to real-world problems. While this happens in other fields, it will be interesting to see more innovative imprints in the field of the chemical industry. With the setting up of the Tinkerers’ Lab at ICT, I wish to see an environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, experimentation, and skill development as a result of which an ecosystem of innovation should be created, which drives our economy and social progress. Tinkerers’ Lab could be instrumental to Industry 4.0. In this context, Mr. Yogesh M. Vishwakarma Awards for Engineering Innovation Returns

Maker Bhavan Foundation, a US-based charitable organisation aiming to modernise STEM education in India, has announced the return of the Vishwakarma Awards for Engineering Innovation in 2023. Founded by the Maker Bhavan Foundation, the Vishwakarma Awards is a nationwide thematic prototyping challenge that aims to incentivise talented student innovators and tinkerers to develop scalable technological solutions that tackle real-world problems and boost India’s economy.

The three tracks of this year’s challenge are water and sanitation, clean technology, and smart mobility. Developing deployable technologies in these emerging areas would lead to considerable benefits for India. According to the World Bank, although India has 18% of the world’s population, it has only 4% of the world’s water resources, which makes it among the most water-stressed countries worldwide. As regards clean technology, a sunrise sector for the Indian economy, efforts to achieve India’s target of producing 450 GW of renewable energy by 2030 could open up investment opportunities to the tune of USD 221 billion, according to Shri Bhagwanth Khuba, Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, and reaching net zero emissions by 2070 could create USD 11 trillion in economic value in India, according to Deloitte. Likewise, in the smart mobility space, there is a wealth of opportunities to rethink India’s transport and mobility infrastructure to make it more sustainable and efficient. In March 2023, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia revealed that India’s drone market will reach Rs 3 lakh crore in value by 2030 and employ 3–4 lakh people. Thus, the Vishwakarma Awards presents an opportunity for solving real-world problems while increasing students’ employability skills and sparking new enterprises.

The Vishwakarma Awards was launched in 2022 by Maker Bhavan Foundation, a California-based public charity that works with science and engineering colleges in India to promote a culture of making and active learning in STEM education in India and, thereby, improve student learning outcomes. Maker Bhavan Foundation has partnered with Wheels India Niswarth (WIN) Foundation, Addverb Technologies, and the Indian Institute of Technology – Delhi (IIT-Delhi) for this year’s awards. IIT-Delhi will also be the host for the Vishwakarma Awards 2023.

Applications are now open for the Vishwakarma Awards 2023. Undergraduate and postgraduate students from science and engineering colleges across India will be invited to form interdisciplinary teams (of up to 4 members) and collaborate to develop an innovative, commercially viable product with a fully functioning prototype. Shortlisted teams gain financial support to build their prototype, mentorship from domain experts, and a platform to showcase their solutions.

The teams selected for having the “best product design” and “most innovative solution” in each of the three tracks will be awarded INR 1 lakh. Selected awardees who wish to further develop their prototype into a marketable product may get selected for the MBF Innovation Fellowship with maximum support up to an additional 2 lakh, released based on milestones defined mutually.

To make education more accessible to the visually impaired students in government special schools, Vision Empower in collaboration with Sankara Eye Hospital have introduced STEM education across 5 districts in Karnataka. Vision Empower is a Not-for-profit Organisation incubated at IIIT Bangalore.

The curriculum is introduced to 64 schools that includes both government and government-aided special schools across Kolar, Doddaballapura, Devanahalli, Nelamangala & Hoskote.

Speaking on the initiative, Vidhya Y, Co-founder & Trustee of Vision Empower said,“Children with special needs particularly from the rural areas often do not have access to an inclusive education. Our goal is to make STEM approachable to the visually impaired students. Once-in-a-lifetime weeklong experience encourages students in their pursuit of STEM careers

Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) announced that 10 Indian students among 172 students from 25 countries attended a once-in-a-lifetime learning experience at the 11th Honeywell Leadership Challenge Academy (HLCA). The unique leadership program took place for two consecutive weeks at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. This year, Honeywell chose eight students from Bangalore and two students from Pune.

The HLCA is a scholarship program for children of Honeywell employees worldwide that offers a weeklong immersive, science-oriented leadership experience. It is designed to encourage high school students ages 16-18 years old to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) through real-world, hands-on activities in computer science, engineering, astronautics and coding.

Bengaluru student Nisha Jain reminisced, “It was a wonderful opportunity to build my leadership qualities, challenge myself across different fields and also meet and learn from my peers from different cultures. We learned how to work as a team with mission control & incident control challenge, build a rocket, code a raspberry pi, train on MATs, use a flight simulator, experience 1/6 gravity, and climbed a 40-foot wall! Proud to have been selected for HLCA!”

Since its launch in 2010, Honeywell, in partnership with the USSRC, has sponsored nearly 3,000 students to attend space camps. Participants develop STEM leadership skills through numerous team-building challenges such as building, coding and testing rockets; simulated astronaut training; shuttle missions; and a low-gravity moonwalk. Students also use computational thinking and computer science to deepen their digital skills.

Indian space agency, ISRO, has just launched 'Antriksh Jigyasa', a knowledge portal for active learning & exploring Space Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics (STEM). This virtual platform also offers self-paced online courses on space science, technology, and applications.

The platform enables, learners to register and login to ISRO E-CLASS Learning Management System (LMS) for accessing e-learning contents and study materials. The learners has to follow the defined course guidelines of each course, participate in the online activities and assessments to get course completion certificate.

Courses offered include Remote Sensing Technology, Geographic Information System, Space Science, Technology & Applications, among others.

One of the STEM components of the platform called "Space Varta", where ISRO scientists share the theory behind scientific concepts related to specific areas of space science, technology and applications, their experience in implementing the systems and success stories & outcomes of major space missions. It is an interactive programme for the registered listeners. However the live sessions will also be available through social media platforms for large outreach.

The registered users can post the questions during the live session and the selected questions will be answered by the subject matter expert.

The free courses are available as Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). The login credentials will be activate initially for three months and learners has to complete the course within this time frame.


Antriksh Jigyasa also encompasses a platfrom SKYPICKS — a creative platform for the kids to showcase their imagination, creativity and talent connected to astronomy, astrophysics, space and related activities. SP Robotics Works Collaborates With McDonald’s to Host A (Steam) Creative-Tech Workshop for Kids


Workshop will be hosted in 40+ locations for kids of 7-17 years of age

SP Robotics Maker Lab, a chain of robotics & coding learning centres across India announces its partnership with McDonald’s India West and South, owned and operated by Westlife Development Ltd., to launch the “Creative-Tech Workshop”. The workshop will be a 2 Hour long session that will be held at a nearby McDonald's across 40 locations in Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. This STEAM-themed (Science Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) workshop will be loaded with fun activities for children between the age of 7 to 17. During the workshop the students will be provided with a take-away electronics & arts kit and taught about the basics of electronics, circuit building, LEDs, switches, and designing 4+ circuits with fun projects they can learn.

The workshop is carefully curated and aims to develop and strengthen their cognitive skills and instil the habit of practical learning in a collaborative environment. A STEM learning CSR workshop was conducted by the Play Learn Foundation in association with AI School of India and Robotix India | USA for the underprivileged children of Chennai Higher Secondary School. Chennai, Tamilnadu, India The 3-day workshop was held between 25th to 27th April 2022 at Alwarpet Circle Library, Chennai. Tamilnadu, India.

Students from Grades 5-10 participated in this fun and engaging workshop where they created science models with their hands and learned various STEM concepts.

At the end of workshop, participating students were handed over certificates and prizes in a special valedictory function presided over by Mr V Arun, Manager – CSR of the Muthoot Group. Tamil Nādu Government in recent times has been focussing more on enhancing the tech skills and employability of students. The construction of smart classrooms, computer coding labs, robotics lab, and holding state level hackathon events are some of the initiatives by the Tamil Nadu Government to encourage the use of technology and make the students industry-ready.

Mr. Ramana Prasad, the chairman of AI School of India and Robotix India | USA mentioned that STEM learning workshops lays the foundation for new ideas, creativity, and innovation. He also thanked Play Learn Foundation for giving AI School of India the opportunity to conduct STEM workshops for the underprivileged children of Chennai Higher Secondary School.

AI School of India has partnered with FICCI Flo Pune and Oxford Golf Resorts to teach Robotics, Coding, STEM education and Artificial Intelligence to the students of Lavale Village school, Pune India.The inaugural event for working towards the rural transformation of Lavale vilage was held on World Earth Day, 23rd April 2022.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Saurabh Rao, IPS Divisional Commissioner, Pune and Mr. Ayush Prasad, IAS CEO Zilla Parishad. Assisting them in the inaugural function were Mr. Nilesh Gawde, Sarpanch of Lavale Gram Panchayat and Mr. Marne, Principal of Lavale Village School.

Mrs. Neelam Seolekar, Chairperson of FICCI FLO Pune and Mr. Anil Seolekar, Chairman of Oxford Golf Resorts were also part of the event.
