STEM Utsav 2022 - A Fun Learning Event for Students

SP Robotics Works Collaborates With McDonald’s to Host A (Steam) Creative-Tech Workshop for Kids


Workshop will be hosted in 40+ locations for kids of 7-17 years of age

SP Robotics Maker Lab, a chain of robotics & coding learning centres across India announces its partnership with McDonald’s India West and South, owned and operated by Westlife Development Ltd., to launch the “Creative-Tech Workshop”. The workshop will be a 2 Hour long session that will be held at a nearby McDonald's across 40 locations in Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. This STEAM-themed (Science Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) workshop will be loaded with fun activities for children between the age of 7 to 17. During the workshop the students will be provided with a take-away electronics & arts kit and taught about the basics of electronics, circuit building, LEDs, switches, and designing 4+ circuits with fun projects they can learn.

The workshop is carefully curated and aims to develop and strengthen their cognitive skills and instil the habit of practical learning in a collaborative environment. The approach helps develop cognitive abilities and aid them in the speed and quality of their problem-solving skills in children. The objective of the STEAM workshop is to focus on logical thought processes and problem-solving allows students to develop mental habits that will help them succeed in any field.

Indian Students Secure First Position in South Asia`s Biggest Robotics Competition

Students from Blue Bells Public School, Gurugram and Indraprastha World School Paschim Vihar won the first position at the International chapter of 8th International Robotronics Competition (IRC League) recently held at the BITS Pilani Campus, Dubai. Avish Dahiya, a class 10th student from Blue Bells Public School along with Rohan Dhingra & Rudraksh from Indraprastha World School were part of the Team Robo Ace (S1) that secured the first position.

Touted as South Asia`s biggest robotics competition, IRC League witnessed participation from many renowned teams from countries including Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Singapore and China.

Mrs. Arpita Acharya, Vice Principal, Blue Bells Public School, extended her heartiest felicitations to the Robotics Team for this emphatic win at the international version of the Competition. She says, “ What lies ahead and what lies after are less important than what lies within us, because all innovation and creativity is a divinely reflection of the powers of the mind. Everything can be achieved in life by exploring the inherent powers and then mustering the courage to unravel them. Real education is thus not just the knowledge.On the contrary, it is an empowerment of the mind to ‘create, increate and re-create’ . IRC League is considered a beehive of technological advancement in the world aiming to celebrate Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and make innovation an area of passion for the young minds of the developing world. It further intends to capture the attention of young innovators by giving them problems and challenges that not only stretch their imagination but also are burning issues.

It was yet another historic moment, a hat trick achievement for the Blue Bells Public School to clinch the First Position and Winners Trophy in the Senior Category at the international version of the game at BITS Pilani Campus, Dubai in 2018. Earlier school Robotics Team have lifted the Winners Trophy in IRC 2015 at Washington and 2016 at Singapore.

The teams competed for the topnotch position and renowned schools of India like The Shriram School, Aravali Campus, Blue Bells School, Gurgaon, SMS, Janakpuri, Indus World School, Indore, Jayshree Periwal High School were just some of the schools participating in the competition.

To recall, in February an Indian student became the proud winner of the Entrepreneurs' Organization South Asia Regional Qualifiers of the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) of 2018.

In 2018, Demand for AI and Robotics Professionals To Rise By 50-60%

Last month, an Intel report predicted that 70% of Indian organizations will deploy artificial intelligence enabled solutions by end of 2019, which in other words also predicted that India will create more jobs for artificial intelligence and robotics professionals.

Now, with start of fresh year 2018 human resource and search experts estimate a 50-60% higher demand for AI and robotics professionals in 2018 even as machines take over repetitive manual work.

“Machines are taking over repetitive tasks. Robotics, AI, big data, and analytics will be competencies that will be in great demand,” said Shakun Khanna, senior director at Oracle for the Asia-Pacific region.

According to a recruitment startup Belong, there are nearly 7,000 to 10,000 Data Scientists in India currently. Notably, Demand for professionals in the realm of data analysis, including data scientists, have grown by almost 76% in the past few years in AI.

The demand is at the entry level as well as middle to senior ranks across sectors such as business, financial services and insurance (BFSI), e-commerce, startups, business process outsourcing (BPO), information technology (IT), pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and retail.

According to experts, there’s an acute demand-supply mismatch for AI talent across industries. Candidates for AI roles related to natural language processing (NLP), deep learning, and machine learning are thin on the ground, according to the Belong Talent Supply Index. The ratio of the number of people to jobs in deep learning is 0.53, while for machine learning it’s 0.63 and for NLP it’s 0.71.

Only 4% of AI professionals in India have worked on cutting-edge technologies such as deep learning and neural networks, the key ingredients in building advanced AI-related solutions, said Kaul.

AI professionals with 10+ years of experience gets $300,000 to $500,000 along with stock options, while in India AI professionals with same experience gets ₹60 lakhs to ₹1.5 crore, according to Belong report.

To cope with shortage of AI professionals in India, Indian collges and educational institutions must include different facets of AI family to their curriculum.

In October 2017, International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H) has had launched a professional course on ‘Foundations for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning'.

Other academic institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in Kharagpur and Kanpur and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru also have specialised disciplines or centres for artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Last year in October, a report by Gartner also said that artificial intelligence would add 2.3 million jobs by 2020.

Additionally, an another report published last month predicted that Artificial Intelligence (AI) could add USD 957 billion to the Indian economy by changing the nature of work to create better outcomes for businesses and society.

Jay Robotix to bring Robotics Education in Schools of India

Jay Robotix Pvt Ltd, a multidimensional robotics firm has today launched a RoboLab at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya School in Nalagonda District, Andhra Pradesh state of India. In a first of its kind initiative Jay Robotix has extended its technical and training expertise of Robotics education to the Government schools.

This Robolab set up by Jay Robotix, with support from the school management and the alumni of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya School, Chalakruthy Camp, Nalgonda will help the school students to further strengthen their academic knowledge by enhancing their soft skills through hands-on practical learning experience. With this initiative the company aims to encourage practical learning in government schools across Andhra Pradesh through robotic labs and make modern education accessible to all and not restricting Robotics to the students of only private schools.

Under this initiative Jay Robotix will provide 10 units of Docile-X robots and upgrade the schools’ computer laboratories with 10 units of licensed RoboGuru trademarked software, developed indigenously by Jay Robotix. The robotics labs will enable around 470 students of the school, to learn the concepts of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) practically by applying the concepts on a Robot. The company has not only set up this Robolab at a highly subsidised cost but will bear the cost of the maintenance of the robots for one full year. It will also provide training to the school faculty on robotics concepts.

RoboLab is an Activity Based Learning (ABL) laboratory consisting of advanced robots which can be used in experiments by the students in a comfortable school environment. Most of the advanced robots have been developed in-house at Jay Robotix by its efficient technical team. Each robot device is accompanied with RoboGuru set along with a detailed curriculum which enlists a description of a comprehensive set of STEM concepts for the students.
