Headquartered in Chandigarh, the company is currently rendering its services in 40 cities of India and trending at 50,000 daily transactions. It has over 15,000 autos empanelled under the brand at present. The company offers a wide range of services like Rides, Fatafat, Meals, Menus and Jugnoo Delivery across different verticals of hyper-local logistics in B2B and B2C domains.

Jugnoo Becomes First Profitable On-Demand Startup With EBITDA Based Revenue

Founded in November 2014 by a handful of IITians, Jugnoo, which initially began its journey as India’s first auto-rickshaw aggregator and then progressed on to become a one-stop solution for all local needs, has now successfully become the first company in India in on-demand space to become profitable on an Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) basis.

The hyperlocal startup, which offers a diverse range of services like Rides, Ready to Eat Meals, Restaurant Food Delivery, Grocery and Business to Business Delivery, has to be super joyous about its achievement since a majority of its competitors are still into investing huge bucks in the market without being able to drive out any sufficient returns.

Jugnoo began its new fiscal year on a celebratory note as a free cash flow positive business. The company's total revenue recorded for last quarter was Rs. 11.5 Crores which has grown by an impressive 15 per cent, and Jugnoo is all set to generate a whopping Rs. 13.5 Crores in the first quarter of this financial year itself.

With 10,00,000 transactions per month across 45+ cities, what began as a small company in 2014 is now spearheading the evolution of the local Indian marketplace into a Digital Reality. Their aim is to make everyday hassle-free. Be it Food, Rides, Fresh Fruits, Vegetables and Groceries, they get them all delivered to you right at your doorsteps.

Commenting on the recent development, Samar Singla, Founder and CEO at Jugnoo said “We have always believed in the significance of developing a scalable but sustainable business model. This achievement means a lot to us as it reaffirms our faith. We have witnessed 250% growth over the past one year and are on track to achieve net revenue of Rs. 70 Crores in current financial year.”

Jugnoo has been successful in raising $16 million in funding over the past two years. Crossing the cash flow positive milestone means that the startup would now be funded by its customers rather than its investor's money.

With Launch of Menus In 21 Cities, Jugnoo Takes A Big Leap In Restaurant Aggregation

Hyperlocal startup, Jugnoo has launched its restaurant aggregator vertical Menus in 21 cities. Within 4 months of its launch, the app-based service that enables customers to order food from restaurants in the city has been expanded into 21 cities across India and has enrolled over 5000 merchants including prominent brands like Pizza Hut, KFC, Subway, Burger King and Domino’s.

Commenting on the development, Samar Singla, Founder and CEO of Jugnoo said, “We already have a good customer base in Tier II and Tier III cities due to our Rides vertical. As we are adding more offerings to our platform, it is enabling us to grow really fast. With Menus, we are witnessing a steady week-on-week growth of 20% and plan to add around 1000 new merchants every week. Currently servicing over 2000 orders per day, the venture is a big boon for local merchants who are high on quality but don’t get enough visibility. Menus is helping them scale their business and fulfil their delivery requirements.”

Founded in November 2014, Jugnoo offers a range of services like rides, ready to eat meals, restaurant food delivery, grocery and B2B delivery. Headquartered in Chandigarh, the company is currently rendering its services in 40 cities of India and trending at 50,000 daily transactions. It has over 15,000 autos empanelled under the brand at present.

With this expansion, Jugnoo claims that it has become the only platform to offer this kind of service in Tier II and Tier III cities like Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Vadodara, Indore and Bhopal. Further, as Jugnoo is utilising the logistics network of its B2B vertical for its restaurant food delivery segment, it is able to facilitate home delivery option for merchants who don’t have transportation means to do that. For customers, the service is not only convenient but also more economical as they can avail huge discounts while placing orders via Jugnoo app.

“We keep coming up with a lot of festival campaigns that enable people living in metros to send gifts to their friends and relatives in smaller cities. Unlike other restaurant aggregators, who hire third-party delivery partners, we ensure quick and convenient delivery through our own B2B logistics service.” Samar added.

Jugnoo’s Menus service is currently available in Chandigarh, Indore, Jaipur, Gurgaon, Noida, Bhopal, Vadodara, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Surat, Ahmedabad, Faridabad, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Lucknow, Nashik, Ludhiana, Pune, Madurai and Nagpur. The platform targets to enrol a whopping 6,000 merchants and expand its reach to 60-80 cities by end of this year.

Jugnoo Garners Support from PM Narendra Modi Through Twitter – Launches ‘Jugnoo Pay’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government, enabled auto-rickshaw based hyper-local startup, Jugnoo to launch its UPI enabled payment solution, ‘Jugnoo Pay’ by solving their issues within 48 hours of a tweet to PM.

Aligning itself to the Government of India’s vision of making India a cashless economy, Jugnoo had been working towards the launch of a UPI enabled payment solution since past few months but the brand had been facing certain technical issues in terms of SDK. However, Jugnoo managed to get immediate government support through the social networking and microblogging site, Twitter. Samar Singla, Founder and CEO, Jugnoo tweeted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about their problem and validating the government’s stance towards the startup ecosystem, the issue was resolved within 48 hours of the tweet.

Giving a better perspective on ‘Jugnoo Pay’, it is a UPI enabled payment solution that allows merchants to request and consumers to approve payments directly using their respective bank accounts with their mobile number as an identifier.

Adding to the insights, following the launch announcement of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) application by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) towards the end of November this year, there were 30 banks offering the UPI app on Google play store. Not only were these banks conferred with the authority to offer the payment service to its customers but were also given the control to further proliferate the technology to other merchants. Thus betting big on payment solutions and aiding the vision of cashless economy, Jugnoo collaborated with YES Bank to enhance the reach of UPI based payment solutions. Therefore, Jugnoo Pay works with all the NPCI approved 30 banks across the country at present.

Adding his bit to the whole scheme of things, Ronak Goyal, VP Engineering, Jugnoo commented, “UPI enabled Jugnoo Pay is the latest offering from Jugnoo to our customers. Factoring in the array of drawbacks in e-wallets, UPI is the next big thing and digital wallets will eventually become obsolete. So, we have enabled customers with a new and more hassle free payment option. Furthermore, the current government’s proactivity towards fulfilling its vision is commendable. Our collaboration with YES bank not only gave us access to the UPI software kit, but also to the NPCI’s tech library that immensely helped us create Jugnoo Pay. In this new era of governance, where the government has made itself so easily accessible to the public, I believe the nation should come together to make the most of technology and collectively take India to new heights.”

The recent move of demonetizing 500 and 1000 currency notes, made it absolutely clear of what the government intends. Tiding on these trends, while Jugnoo had already announced that it will introduce UPI to its app in the September 2016, however, after demonetization, the brand nailed it with the launch of Jugnoo Pay.

Post the announcement of ‘Startup India Campaign’ the entire entrepreneur’s fraternity stood in unanimity to support the mission not only in words but through various innovative startups. These startups not only make life easier for public, but are also enhancing the economy of the country. Treading on these line-of-thoughts, Jugnoo Pay offers hassle free money transaction directly through a user’s bank to their friend’s bank account via UPI.

“While existing Jugnoo customers can directly login and use this service, new customers need to sign up on Jugnoo platform to use the service. In next iteration, Jugnoo Pay will be integrated as a payment option in Jugnoo app so that users can pay their ride amount, groceries and meals directly from their bank accounts. Furthermore, it will soon be open for other e-commerce and businesses as payment solution. Jugnoo is also working on offline solution to ensure financial inclusion for all.” Ronak added.

Jugnoo Pay mobile application is available on Google Play store for Android users and will be soon available on Apple App store for Apple users.

Diversifying Its Area of Business Further, Jugnoo Announces Grocery Launch

Inducing nuances of versatility to the integrated app, Jugnoo has announced the launch of its latest service ‘Grocery’. This launch is following the success of its recent launch ‘Fresh’, delivering fresh fruits and vegetables. Maintaining its stance of optimum utilization of resources, the grocery orders too will be delivered by auto-rickshaw drivers during their free time.

In order to cater to the growing customer demand in the app, Jugnoo has tied up with the local branches of biggest and best wholesalers in the city and currently has 3500 SKUs for its Grocery service. The platform also ensures 100% fulfillment of all items in an order. At present the deliveries are done the next day of placing an order between 4 pm-8 pm. To further enhance the services, Jugnoo also intends to launch an Express store this December, where deliveries will be done within 2 hours of placing an order.

Elaborating on the launch, Samar Singla, Founder and CEO, Jugnoo commented, “Post the successful launch of ‘Fresh’, the idea was to enhance our user experience and offer customers an all-inclusive end–to-end solution for all their daily needs. This additional category was a profitable move, as this adds to our overall order size. As a matter of fact, grocery in spite of being a low margin business, has been unit economics profitable for us from day one due to its strategic launch after Fresh. Furthermore, unlike other players in the industry, we have introduced a 'Wholesale' category that allows our customers to order their daily use items in bulk and increases ticket size for us.”

Prior to foraying Grocery launch into other geographical locations, Jungoo plans to grow organically in Chandigarh tricity and fortify its operations and processes. After acquiring a strong hold in its home town it intends to replicate the model in 40 cities across the country, with a plan of launching in about 6 cities by mid of next year. Jugnoo is also working on tying up with brands directly for its grocery service.

Jugnoo Pioneers Offline Auto-rickshaw Booking; Files For Patent

Marking every step of its growth trajectory, Jugnoo files a patent that allows operations of its app in offline mode as well. Progressively transforming the current ride hailing ecosystem, Jugnoo renovates its internet dependent smartphone application, into an internet independent system, facilitating booking rides for users even with no internet access. The feature facilitates a process for connecting Jugnoo users to Jugnoo app in an offline mode.

Elaborating further on the new disruptive feature, Samar Singla, Founder  and CEO Jugnoo  said, “In an era such as today, while we talk of groundbreaking technologies and internet that not only connects humans but machines too, there are still people who do not have access to internet or suffer connectivity issues in our country. Conventional methods of taxi or auto-rickshaw booking through mobile apps are dependent on the internet. Factoring in both the aspects, we felt there was a need to introduce a feature that enabled our users to avail the same service through the app, even in case of no internet access on their smartphones.”

“The introduction of this feature is directed towards bridging this gap and providing our users with a robust system to book rides in offline mode. Through this feature, we intend to provide a commercially practical procedure to book rides in absence of internet connectivity.” He  added.

The new feature by Jugnoo ingeniously thrives on the longstanding SMS service. In case of low or no internet connectivity, Jugnoo user will have an option to book a ride from their current location or from a list of previously saved geographic locations or by selecting a location from stored map on the user’s smartphone. Additionally, users will also have an option to select their pick up location on the cached map through manual selection. Once the location has been set by the user and a request for ride is made, a pre structured SMS with location details will be triggered from the user’s phone. On receiving that SMS, Jugnoo servers and third party services will decipher the information and automatically assign the nearest available ride to the customer. The status and details of the ride will be shared with the user through an SMS. The users also have an option to cancel the booked ride. Once the internet resumes, the ride details and other features associated with the ride will be available for the user through the Jugnoo application.
