Hyderabad’s EON Space Labs’ MIRA Set for December Orbit After Historic Space-Grade Certification

EON Space Labs, a Hyderabad-based deep-tech startup, specialising in multi-domain earth observation, confirmed that its flagship electro optical space telescope ‘MIRA’, successfully completed thermo-vacuum (TVAC) testing. The milestone qualifies MIRA as India’s first indigenously developed space telescope, ready to tackle the harsh environment of space during low earth orbit (LEO) missions.

MIRA has been developed as an electro optical payload onboard satellites, utilised for dual-use strategic defence and commercial space missions.

The miniaturised space telescope meets stringent NASA-standards for space-readiness, tested for temperature stability, vacuum tolerance, and in-orbit operational reliability. Testing was conducted at an NABL-accredited facility in Ahmedabad at vacuum levels below 10⁻⁵ torr and extreme temperature swings between −20 °C and +60 °C. MIRA performed beyond expectations with negligible outgassing and zero optical or structural drift. It was also integrated with the onboard high performance computer of its satellite partners, successfully demonstrating autonomous imaging and telemetry under simulated orbital conditions. MIRA is scheduled for a heritage space flight onboard an upcoming satellite orbit mission, later in December 2025.
Punit Badeka, Cofounder, EON Space Labs, said, MIRA enables the highest-quality imagery at a fraction of traditional size and weight limitations. We’re not only focused on India’s self-reliance in earth observation but aim to tap the global market with MIRA.

Designed to deliver the highest-resolution imagery while weighing barely 502 gms, MIRA is at least 3 to 4 times lighter than conventional space telescopes. Payload delivery costs which can be as high as USD 10K to 20K per kilogram can be slashed without the need for compromising on image resolution.

Hyderabad based startup Hylenr Technologies, a leader in clean energy innovation, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TakeMe2Space, a pioneering space-tech company, to develop and test LENR powered compute modules in space.

TakeMe2Space is actively exploring multiple energy technologies, including LENR, to assess efficient methods for heat extraction and potential reuse in its compute-focused satellites. This technology could also be applicable for deep space missions which traditionally use radioisotope based thermoelectric generators (RTGs).

Hylenr The ASTROGEN 250 — a 250 kW space-based energy generator specifically engineered to operate in extraterrestrial environments (think: the Moon, Mars, deep space missions). It’s like the HYTHERM 250’s intergalactic cousin, but tailored for the harsh, no-nonsense conditions of outer space.

As the first step of this collaboration, Hyderabad based startup TakeMe2Space, which is building LEO satellite infrastructure will provide the satellite platform and subsystems required to test Hylenr’s LENR-based thermo-electric generator in space.

"Validating our LENR technology in space is a crucial milestone, and TakeMe2Space’s platform and expertise provides the perfect opportunity to test our system in a real operational environment," said Hylenr Founder and CEO Siddhartha Durairajan. TakeMe2Space (TM2Space), an innovative space technology firm based in Hyderabad, India, is set to launch India's first Al laboratory in space, known as MOI-TD (My Orbital Infrastructure Technology Demonstrator), aboard ISRO'S PSLV C60 rocket in mid-December 2024.

MOI-TD aims to make space data more accessible, real-time, and affordable for researchers, students, and small businesses.

TakeMe2Space is part of NVIDIA Inception, a programme that nurtures startups revolutionising industries with technological advancements. Under NVIDIA Inception, startups gain access to NVIDIA's advanced hardware and software, including GPUs, deep learning frameworks, and AI tools.

The space laboratory, MOI-TD, will demonstrate real-time data processing in orbit, making space research more affordable and accessible. Thus, by processing data directly in space, MOI-TD has the potential to revolutionize industries like telecommunications, agriculture, and environmental monitoring.

MOI-TD enables real-time data processing in orbit, reducing the need for extensive ground-based data transmission and significantly lowering costs associated with space research. The platform supports applications such as environmental monitoring, deforestation tracking, maritime activity observation, and greenhouse gas emission detection.

Interestingly, a web-based console, OrbitLab, will allow users to upload AI models to the satellite platform and customize Earth observation use cases. TakeMe2Space is currently inviting interested ones to apply for waitlist.

The platform has already secured research partners, including a leading Malaysian university and a group of 9th and 10th graders from an Indian school.

The satellite features flexible solar cells, AI accelerators, advanced radiation shielding, and an onboard computer.

Notably, MOI-TD is the technical demonstration version of the MOI-1 satellite. The MOI-1 satellite is a CubeSat designed and manufactured, Indegenously in India, by TM2Space. The satellite's mission is to allow users to take images of Earth and conduct space experiments.

The mission serves as a technology demonstrator for scalable, cost-effective orbital infrastructure, paving the way for future space-based computing capabilities.

TakeMe2Space (TM2Space) was founded in June 2023 by Ronak Kumar Samantaray and three of his friends. The space technology company is based in Hyderabad, India, and is driven by a vision to democratize space and make it accessible to everyone.

Telluris Biotech, a Hyderabad-based company engaged in the manufacturing and supply of crop protection solutions for farmers and growers receives Biochemical Classification it received from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). The USEPA is the Agency responsible for the registration of safe and sustainable products in the United States of America, informed Mr Venu Polineni, Founder and the Managing Director of Telluris Biotech India Pvt. Ltd, addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Friday.

It is the world’s first True Bio-Nematocide to get referral by the Biochemical Classification Committee Venu added.

Giving the company’s achievements on multiple fronts Venu Polineni said Telluris Biotech product technology received referral by the Biochemical classification committee (“the Committee”) of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (“USEPA”). The Committee is a key referral body under the Biopesticides and Pollution Prevention Division (BPPD) of the USEPA. The biochemical classification is the first and the most important step in the technology evaluation where the technology is evaluated for its claims to be registered as Biopesticides. Biopesticides are presumed to be safe and act in harmony with nature, unlike conventional chemical pesticide molecules which are known for their deleterious effects.

Giving details about the company Venu said that they have raised so far US $ 3 million from Innovation in Food and Agri Fund. They have currently 130 resources working. The number will be raised to 225 by the end of 2024. They plan to raise 12 million Series A Funding by end of March 2023. We have 8 products in Indian market. They are bio stimiulants. They are used for cotton, Chillis, Turmeric and others, he stated.

Indian Startup 'Kheyti' that offers solution to local smallholder farmers to reduce costs, increase yields and protect livelihoods, has received this year's prestigious ‘ Earthshot ’ award. Kheyti was selected for the award along with 4 other winners. Earthshot awards is an initiative launched by Prince William under which a prize money of one million pounds is given to each winner.

Kheyti was declared the winner in the "Protect and Restore Nature" category. Earthshot said in a statement that small farmers under this category should reduce costs, Leading solutions are provided to increase yields and save livelihoods in the country in view of climate change.

Over 1000 applications from around the world were considered, with 15 finalists from 10 countries chosen through a selection process supported by an expert advisory panel.

The final five winners were selected by The Earthshot Prize Council, a diverse team of influential individuals which include: HRH Prince William, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, Sir David Attenborough, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Indra Nooyi, Shakira Mebarak, Christiana Figueres, Luisa Neubauer, Cate Blanchett, Yao Ming, Daniel Alves Da Silva, Ernest Gibson, Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, Jack Ma, and Naoko Yamazaki.

Quantum Energy showcases its four EV Scooters named Plasma, Elektron, Milan and Bziness and offers a wide range of powerful, efficient and cost-effective EV scooters for all its customers. When it comes to the specific models, the New Plasma powered by a 1500w motor will clock a top speed of 60 km/h. In terms of range, a rider can expect to cover over 110 km -130 km on a single full charge. Elektron, Milan come with a 1000W motor power and Bziness comes with a 1200W motor power, clocks a maximum speed of 50km/h with range of 80-100kms in different riding modes.The e-scooters are powered by advanced Lithium-ion batteries which get fully charged in 4hrs. The company is hopeful to make a mark in India’s embryonic EV two-wheeler market.

The funding will be utilized to upgrade the technology platform and hire for key roles in its expansion to cities pan-India.

The new funding comes on the heels of a major commercial milestone of Wehouse completing 1 million square feet of built-up area. They are slated to touch INR 100 Cr of booked revenue in the next few months.
