Ed-Tech Startup Admito Poised To Streamline India's MBA Admission Process

Too many options are more of a bad news than good news in the 21st century. And, when it comes to education, this bad news becomes worst. Understanding the mental state that a student goes through while choosing their dream college, a Ghaziabad based startup called Admito has come up with a unique solution.

Focussing on MBA aspirants, Admito isn't just a tool but more of a friend who understands a student and his/her needs. Its algorithm gives the student the most corrective and accurate information about the choices available to him while shortlisting colleges.

Claiming to be an expert in profiling, a master in information processing and an ace in counseling, Admito aims to deliver trustworthy intelligence at the fingertips, absolutely free of cost.

Admito is the result of the cumulative effort of 5 like- minded individuals, Manu Jain, Sahil Garg, Suprabhat Sen, Himanshu Mendiratta and Mukesh Kumar. According to the founders, Admito isn't an overnight dream, it is actually a result of cumulative frustration acquired during their own college selection process. Before getting into IMT Ghaziabad(where four of the founders have studied), they had to undergo a very stressful period of 8 months, where they were highly confused since the options were plenty but the decision that needed to be made was one.

MBA is one of the most important decisions of a person's life. It is a decision on which his whole life depends. Decisions from college application to be filled to selection the final college, a lot of other crucial decisions have to be made. College Selection is not just based on a single parameter, there are a plenty of things that need to be considered. Placements, Brand Value, Specialization, Location, Fee, Alumni Base, Entrepreneurship activity and many such parameters works simultaneously.

According to a survey done by Admito, 5 out of 8 students are not satisfied with their choice of MBA college. The startup aims to change this scenario by streamlining the entire admission process. x

Launched on 23rd Sept this year, the self-funded startup has already been receiving 10k monthly visits and has more than 700 users to its credit. With a current database of 50 college of MBA, Admito plans to achieve the target of 250 colleges by December this year and 1000 colleges by June next year. Wibe: Surf Wikipedia with the power of YouTube

Akshit and Ankit, students of Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Ghaziabad, like all of us faced problem while studying from Wikipedia and found it easier to learn from YouTube videos. They decided to solve the problem for all of us by developing Wibe. "Wibe is a combination of Wikipedia and YouTube so that we can save the time in switching over to YouTube and searching for videos relevant to the topic we were exploring on Wikipedia," says Akshit Agarwal, a python lover.

Wibe has been recently funded for INR 1.2 million by TLabs Accelerator.

Wibe is a product that increases the "Interest Quotient" of Wikipedia and YouTube content by combining the power of both at a single place. You can leverage this combined power of both just by installing the Wibe's chrome extension after which you can watch out the relevant Videos corresponding to the Wikipedia Page.

Wibe provides videos from YouTube corresponding to every heading and subheading of Wikipedia article, so that you can get a better insight about every part of the Wiki Article. Wibe also gives you "Stick Tabs" feature by which you can stick a video tab on top of page while scrolling through Wikipedia content.

"Wibe started in April 2014 while we were still in college," says Ankit Agrawal. He was the Research Intern at IIT Delhi under Prof. K.K. Biswas in the field of ML/AI also he likes to work on different techs, he had made a project named AutoEmo which inserts emoticons in the text messages according to actual emotions by detecting brain wave pattern. Akshit on the other hand was the Student Developer in Google Summer of Code 2013 and developed a small tool named Mp3fm. One of his projects was presented at the DerbyCon Conference.

Wibe allows its user to watch videos corresponding to summary and every heading and sub-heading of Wiki article. The current version of Wibe has been made using Javascript and Jquery. They developed an algorithm through which the Wiki article is processed and relevant videos are fetched from YouTube.

This very talented 2 member team is located out of Delhi NCR with 3 more team members, Harsh Bhatia, Priyank Jain & Shivam Khandelwal. “We started as a group of more than 10 people initially, but as time passed, a lot of them left,” says Ankit. “We got good investment offers from some of the organization but for now we have not partnered with any as we are looking for a good mentorship rather than investment,” adds Akshit. They are currently bootstrapped. Their team has been mentored by Mr. Manish Kr. Thakur and H.O.D. Prof. Sanjay Goel from college. "The founders of Scrablabs, Mr. Saurabh Aswani and Mr. Akshay Agarawal have helped us in every possible aspect," says Akshit.

We learnt a little about how they are working without investment and they shared a little story with us. “Currently we both live together in a flat, far away from our parents and teach robotics in schools to earn some money for our monthly expenses. We both don't want to take money from home to carry on our passion,” says Ankit. “Ankit is the cook of the house and I try to learn from him once in a while,” adds Akshit. “At the end of the day, we go for a walk and discuss ideas and realize that we are the happiest people on earth because we get to pursue our passion,” he adds.

They plan to make a generic plugin which can be used by any website and they look to extend their product to other content rich websites which will give them a lead over their competitors. "Using our plugin in E-commerce, blogs, How To's websites will make their content more powerful," says Ankit. "For e.g. E-commerce website can include product videos as well as product review videos so that their customers may get all the necessary information at one place," adds Akshit.

As an advice for future entrepreneurs, Ankit says, "You are allowed to make mistakes, but be sure to learn from them as well." To this Akshit adds, "Never run behind money in life because it can give you temporary satisfaction and happiness. Do what you love to do. You should be so passionate about your work that you even dream about it."

Making websites gets easier with Purrx Technology's 'Website Interface Builder'

What if I told you that you could develop as many websites as possible and it would be just a small copy paste job for you? Hard to believe, right?

Parag Garg, a graduate of Jaypee Institute of Information and Technology, Noida has developed a product 'Website interface builder' to make website development an easier task. The product officially started in July this year though Parag has been working on Purrx Technologies since Aug 2013, Purxx is Ghaziabad Startup currently in bootstrapped mode.

The idea came to him while he was interning as a web designer at a big firm and realized that it was a simple job of copying and pasting of different UI Components. He created a tool which could be used to create webpages just by drag n drop. "I started working on this as and chose this topic for my final year B Tech project. I merged my company idea with my college project so that it will have some deadlines and can devote my college time in my company project."

There are a few other companies in the market, but none of them are free for users. They give the code of the created website on their server which can be used. "When I started, the best company in the field was Divshot which was just 6 months old. Though I found Divshot's web interface builder convincing, it lacked some features I wanted," Parag says. "Service oriented companies in this field (Web development /software development) lack innovation which is a need of current Industry," he adds.

They work on PHP, YII framework, node.js, Javascript, PhoneGap to make the template easy to use for everyone. Their 5 member team based out of Ghaziabad plans to extend their website builder to 'Mobile App Builder'. "Currently due to shortage of funds we are Outsourcing Projects for different Organizations/Companies/Users," they say. Apart from working on 'Mobile App Builder', they are creating innovative Software's/Apps/Websites for their users.
