Krutrim: How India's First 2024 Unicorn is Revolutionising AI

Casino Days Review

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a powerful technology that's changing many industries in the 21st century. It can transform healthcare, education, farming, finance, and more.

Krutrim is an Indian AI startup founded by Bhavish Aggarwal,  a seasoned entrepreneur who also founded Ola. It recently became India's first AI unicorn by getting $50 million in funding. This is a big deal for India's startup world. In this article, we'll look at how an AI startup Krutrim became the first Unicorn of 2024 and how it's changing the technology scene in India.

India's tech landscape is expanding rapidly, and the country is making significant contributions to global tech development with numerous innovative ideas. Nowadays, platforms like iGaming, which merge technology and gaming, are growing rapidly in India. People often seek entertainment on these platforms during their free time, yet they often find themselves unsure about which site to select. This is where examples like this Casino Days Review come in, playing a crucial role in helping users find the best platform for their entertainment needs.

Krutrim was started in 2023 by Bhavish Aggarwal. It wants to make a smart language system that can understand and talk in many Indian languages. It also wants to make special chips for AI. Krutrim is proud to be India's first AI unicorn because it's now valued at $1 billion. The AI startup got unicorn status quickly after it raised $50 million from investors like Matrix Partners India, in January 2024. Krutrim planned to released a beta version of its chatbot in February 2024. The AI chatbot understands 22 Indian languages and can respond in 10 Indian languages. The AI startup now plans to offer tools for developers and businesses later in this year.

The word "Krutrim" means "artificial" in Sanskrit. Krutrim isn't just another AI company. It wants to build a big system for AI that includes computers, servers, and other devices to help AI work better in India and other places. It's also making a huge language system that's trained on lots of Indian data so it can understand and talk in many Indian languages.

Krutrim doesn't just want to do language stuff. It also wants to help AI grow in India by supporting developers and researchers. Bhavish Aggarwal, the founder, thinks Krutrim can help AI grow in India. The $50 million funding round shows that investors believe in Krutrim. Matrix Partners India, one of the main investors, says Krutrim's work is important for making India more tech-savvy. Even though Krutrim hasn't said exactly how much money it makes, it claims its business has been growing really fast since 2023, with more than 500 customers in online shopping, education, healthcare, media, and government.

In the future, Krutrim wants to do more than just language stuff. It's planning to make a more advanced model called Krutrim Pro that can solve different kinds of problems in many areas.

Krutrim's value of $1 billion shows how big the AI market in India could be. Some experts think it could reach $70-100 billion by 2025 and $300-400 billion by 2030. But to make this happen, India needs to deal with some challenges like not having enough good data, not having the right infrastructure, and making sure AI is used in fair and safe ways.
Krutrim's Valuation: Anchored on Potential

Krutrim's worth is based on its future potential. When investors give money to a startup and get a share of the company, it helps decide how much the company is worth.

Krutrim's value depends on its ability to create new and amazing AI solutions made specifically for India. There's a big demand in India for AI programs that can chat with people and understand many languages. Krutrim says its language program, called Llama3, will be even better than what OpenAI and Google have made.
The company's value also comes from its founder, Bhavish Aggarwal. He's well-known for creating and growing Ola and Ola Electric, two big transportation startups in India. Bhavish Aggarwal's leadership, big ideas, and skills in getting top people and money from around the world make Krutrim look even more valuable.
Krutrim's Competitive Advantages

Krutrim has a few advantages that make it stand out in the AI market. One big advantage is its focus on India. India has lots of languages, more than 20 official ones and many dialects. Krutrim wants to make a language system that can understand and talk in lots of Indian languages, picking up on all the little differences and cultural stuff in each one.

Another advantage is Krutrim's work on both AI hardware and software. It's making its own special chips and data centres just for its language system and other AI stuff. Krutrim also plans to use Meta's super-advanced data centre in Jeffersonville. This place has cool gadgets like liquid-cooling systems to handle all the tough computing needed for AI. Krutrim is even teaming up with Meta to work on a new AI model called Llama4. This could help Krutrim get even better at what it does.

Startup Funding Trends in the AI Space

In 2022, Uniphore, a company that works on talking AI, got the most money ever for a round of funding: $400 million in what's called a Series E round.

A report from 2023 about AI Startups, showed that India-based AI Startups got $1.11 billion from 47 rounds of funding. This was just a tiny increase from the year before, but the number of times they got funding went down a lot, from 135 to 47. This shows that getting money for startups is getting harder, and investors are picking only the best ones.

Out of those 47 times, only four were really big deals at the end of a startup's growth. But even though there weren't many big deals, they made up most of the money raised. Krutrim got the most money of all in one of these big deals: $50 million in what's called a Series A round. This shows that Krutrim is doing well with its products, has lots of customers, and is doing better than its rivals.

Krutrim's special thing is its focus on different languages. It's working on a language system that can handle lots of Indian languages. This is important because India has lots of languages and cultures, and Krutrim wants to help people talk to each other better.

Krutrim is also working on making special chips that are really good at doing AI stuff. This is a smart move because it helps AI work faster and better. Becoming a unicorn, which means being valued at $1 billion, isn't just about money for Krutrim. It shows that AI can do cool things, like helping people talk to each other better and changing how India uses technology. As Krutrim keeps going, it's going to leave a big mark on India's startup world.

Conclusion

Krutrim's journey to unicorn status is an outstanding achievement not only for the company but also for India's technology ambition. Their focus on developing AI systems with multilingual capabilities, customized technology, and attention to India's specific needs emphasizes them as a major participant in the nation's future. Krutrim's challenging goals and strong alliances position it to change how people engage with technology and realize AI's huge potential in India.

Leading Patent Search and Intelligence platform, PatSeer Unveils Cutting-Edge AI Semantic Search with Custom-Trained GPT Model

With this new capability, PatSeer continues to revolutionise the patent research domain by bridging the gap between Boolean and AI-based systems

PatSeer, a leading Indian AI-driven B2B SaaS platform for Intellectual Property (IP) Research and Intelligence is excited to announce a completely new and rebuilt semantic search powered by an advanced GPT-driven language model. The new semantic search replaces its older Natural Language search capabilities in the product by custom-training the underlying LLM model to understand patent semantics. PatSeer's new AI search feature brings a significant improvement in result accuracy on tests conducted across various research sectors, further solidifying their presence as a global company which caters to prominent blue chip firms in India and abroad. PatSeer is also the platform of choice for the Indian Patent Office for their day to day patent examination activities.

With this new development, patent professionals are no longer confined to the contextuality limitations of Boolean searches and can capitalise on PatSeer’s AI capabilities for comprehensive searches. As a platform that’s used by thousands of IP searchers on a daily basis, PatSeer’s complex Boolean search functionality will continue to remain crucial for certain IP projects. However now, with the integration of the new semantic search, PatSeer is offering the best of both worlds, eliminating the need for two separate systems.

Further, with a true Boolean and AI integration, users get unique capabilities that neither can provide independently. For example, one can initiate a semantic search and narrow the results iteratively with Boolean searches and vice versa. It also allows for the semantic re-ranking of Boolean results using a paragraph or a relevant patent. The system also suggests related records to existing results based on the underlying language model’s contextual understanding. For transparency purposes, users can view the closest matching snippets from full text to understand why a record scored higher in their results. The new semantic search is also immediately available as an API for integration into internal systems.

In the many conversations with patent professionals, I’ve been told that Boolean and AI-based patent systems will always be separate tools and I could never accept that,” remarked Manish Sinha, Founder and Chief Technology Officer at PatSeer. “I’m excited to debunk that notion today. PatSeer has become the first to offer a seamless fusion of transformative AI-driven search within a professional patent search database. The days of maintaining access to two separate solutions or paying by the query are over. At PatSeer our commitment to harnessing the power of Deep Learning AI to tackle greater challenges remains stronger than ever. Following the launch of our AI Classifier last year, the advent of our new Semantic Search marks another significant milestone in this journey. We are quite excited with the possibilities here and the road ahead.”

With a commitment to remain at the forefront of AI-driven solutions, PatSeer is paving the way for the future of patent research. PatSeer offers IP experts worldwide patent search with AI technology, faceted filtering, advanced analytics for comprehensive IP business intelligence, an intuitive user experience, and optimised workspaces, and leads the charge in utilising AI within IP research and analysis tools. It aims to establish itself as the pioneer in addressing significant challenges in the field by offering customised AI solutions tailored to meet its clients' unique needs.

Intellectual property (IP) and patent research have become essential elements of today's ever-changing world of technology and innovation. Intellectual Property encompasses various forms, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Among these, patents stand out as legal documents that grant their holders exclusive rights to an invention for a specified period, typically 20 years from the filing date. This exclusivity empowers inventors to prevent others from making, using, selling, or importing their inventions without permission.

Patent research involves delving into patent databases to extract useful information about emerging innovations and industry trends. This form of research helps businesses make informed choices regarding product development, market strategies, and intellectual property protection. Beyond its corporate applications, patent research also serves the interests of policymakers, investors and the general public, by providing them with essential data that can influence technological and social advancements.

Edtech Startup Scaler Introduces GPT-4 powered AI Teaching Assistant

Scaler introduces GPT-4 powered AI teaching assistant to enhance learner experience

Since its pilot launch, 6000 learners from its Scaler Academy program have been provided access to the AI Teaching Assistant, enabling round-the-clock query resolution, and the company aims to extend this to all its learners by Q3 of 2023

Scaler (by InterviewBit), one of India's fastest-growing edtech startups, today announced the introduction of its GPT-4 powered AI teaching assistant for learners. By integrating ChatGPT functionalities into the Scaler Academy program, the tech upskilling ‘soonicorn’ aims to reduce the doubt resolution turnaround time of the learners, enhancing their learning outcomes.

This new system will enable comprehensive support for learners round-the-clock, enabling students to learn at their own pace. With the introduction of this solution, Scaler intends to address three potential pain points, namely, understanding problems, identifying optimal problem-solving approaches, and code debugging, thereby ensuring that learners receive immediate assistance at any time of the day.

Once learners identify and input their pain points as a prompt to the teaching assistant, the GPT-powered feature presents them with a suitable response to help them with their queries. Safeguards have been implemented to ensure the teaching assistant doesn't divulge the actual solution to the learner. Instead, prompts are presented that help them understand the problem better and figure out the answer independently. This approach promotes a hands-on and self-driven learning experience, where learners can develop their problem-solving skills and gain a deeper understanding of concepts. Through the implementation of 'prompt engineering,' Scaler aims to ensure that learners receive the best responses from ChatGPT, empowering them in their journey to overcome challenges and resolve doubts effectively.

In addition to this, Scaler has also introduced a 'Text Help Request' (THR) feature that enhances the learner experience by providing immediate and high-quality doubt resolution. Leveraging advanced machine learning algorithms such as BERT and Distilled BERT, the THR feature ensures accurate and contextually relevant guidance. Scaler's system delivers the most appropriate THR recommendations based on learners' specific queries by utilising BERT for text similarity matching and for computing text embeddings. Parameters such as Help Request and Teaching Assistant ratings, recency of resolved HRs, and a weighted scoring system contribute to the accuracy and quality of the recommendations. Within a week of its implementation, Scaler is already seeing a 30% better resolution of help requests raised by learners on average, an all-time low.

Abhimanyu Saxena, Co-founder of Scaler & InterviewBit, said, "While being mindful and empathetic towards the busy schedules of working professionals who undertake tech upskilling courses, it is crucial to provide them with an outcome-driven and high-quality learning experience at every stage of their journey. Previously, our Scaler learners relied solely on teaching assistants who were available for 15 hours a day to address their doubts. However, with the launch of our GPT-4 powered AI teaching assistant and the THR feature, learners can now have their doubts and queries addressed instantly. These new features greatly boost productivity for our learners, aiding them with all the means necessary to work their way around complex concepts and problem-solving challenges. By leveraging the power of AI and ML, Scaler is reshaping the landscape of tech education, empowering learners to achieve their goals efficiently and effectively."

Since the pilot launch a month ago, 6000 learners from its Scaler Academy program have been provided access to the AI Teaching Assistant, with the feature already significantly impacting learners' experiences. With over 33% more learners utilising the tool to solve problems independently without the intervention of a teaching assistant, Scaler has witnessed a significant uptick in learner satisfaction. The learner analytics also observed that learners who accessed the ChatGPT-powered AI teaching assistant were 10% to 20% less likely to raise help externally and could solve problems by themselves - the key idea being building a problem-solving attitude among learners towards software engineering that eventually leads to better outcomes within the program as well as on the job. The majority of exposed learners have rated the support as 5* and are glad they are able to get support from AI to code better!

Over the next three months, Scaler aims to make both the AI Assistant and the Text Help Request features accessible to all their 35,000 learners in the Scaler ecosystem.

Meta Launching Its Own Generative AI To Compete With ChatGPT and Google

Meta Launching Its Own Generative AI To Compete With ChatGPT and Google

Social Media giant Meta (Facebook) is all set to release a commercial version of its own artificial intelligence model in line with OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Bard, allowing start-ups and businesses to build custom software on top of the technology.

The release is expected very soon, said a report by Financial Times citing a person familiar with the plans. "The new version of its open-source large language model can be used to build custom software and will be released 'imminently", said the report.

Earlier in February, Meta released its own large language model, known as LLaMA, to researchers and academics, but the new version is said to be more widely available and customisable by companies.

Meta' s LLMs are said to be “open-source,” which means that information about the new model will be made public. This will give an edge to Meta over OpenAI's GPT-4, which is kind of a "walled garden" meaning the data and code used to build the model are not accessible publicly or to third parties.

Notably, Meta has been working on AI research and development for more than a decade but is behind OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google's Bard in the race of flagship generative AI models.

The upcoming software, which can create text, images and code, is however questionable when it comes to carbon footprint it would create, as it is powered by large language models (LLMs) which are trained on huge amounts of data and require vast computing power which in turn requires vast amount of energy to cool down the heat it will generate.

Google Introduces NotebookLM, An Experimental AI-powered Notes App

Google Introduces NotebookLM, An Experimental AI-powered Notes App

Google has announced that it is starting to roll out the Artificial Intelligence-powered notes app 'Project Tailwind' with a new name 'NotebookLM', an experimental offering from Google Labs.

At Google I/O event this year the search giant introduced a number of AI-first experiments in development, including Project Tailwind — a new kind of notebook designed to help people learn faster.

NotebookLM will be immediately available to a small group of users in the U.S. and Google will ontinue to refine the product and make it more helpful.

NotebookLM automatically generates a document guide to help you get a better understanding of the material. Like when you first add a Google Doc into NotebookLM, it will automatically generate a summary, along with key topics and questions to ask so you get a better understanding of the material.

NotebookLM is supposedly a virtual research assistant that can summarize facts, explain complex ideas, and brainstorm new connections — all based on the sources its users select.

NotebookLM is different from any traditional AI chatbots is that NotebookLM lets you “ground” the language model in your notes and sources. Source-grounding effectively creates a personalized AI that’s versed in the information relevant to you.
