doersguild

Founded in 2012 by Sathvik and Ravi, Doersguild.com is a start-up that builds applications which would run beautifully on all users' devices. They can help you build your web and mobile apps and take you fully cross-platform with specializing in ensuring your users have a wonderful experience with your app, no matter what device they use.

Based out of Hyderabad, these guys have been working on products like a web-based OS with a virtual file-system, window management and an API to safely accept user's apps, a real-time-collaborative code-editor for people to write code together. Also, they are trying to build a brand for themselves as a service company offering to build responsive websites and cross-platform/Hybrid smartphone applications.

"We look at ourselves as a fast, high-quality & premium company who deliver what they promise and don't promise unless they are sure they can deliver. Given our expertise, honestly, the ability to communicate and our dedication to deliver on our promises, our clients find us indispensable" says Ravi.

He also articulates about the various and complex technologies that are being used at their company, "For building web & hybrid apps, we usually rely on our stack consisting of either AngularJS or jQuery with Twitter Bootstrap for the front-end, a powerful framework, like Laravel for the backend, JSON based web-services for interaction between them and Cordova/Phone gap for bundling them into native/hybrid applications for various platforms like Android and iOS.We also use Yeoman’s generators for starting a project, Bower for handling the dependencies and either Grunt or Gulp for running tests. We use Git for version control, Trello and Skype for planning and coordinating between ourselves and most of the team uses either Brackets or Aptana Studio for writing code. Also, we have dabbled with several other technologies/frameworks like Web2Py, Cross-Rider, FuelPHP, HybridAuth, GoLang, etc for the various projects we've worked on."

Currently partnered with 4 other organizations - YQ Soft Labs (pioneer in mobile application development), Infyz Solutions (software and business solutions for port and terminal operation), IXXO Cart (ecommerce solutions) and Xervmon (cloud asset management solution); Doersguild have already made quite a few interesting things both for themselves and for their clients, like an android-powered SMS-based helpline called Tharunopayam for a local NGO called Tharuni, a quizzing platform called General Knowitall Knowledge , a Password-Hasher browser extension, several plugins, extensions and web-applications, some of which you can find on their Github profile and a lot of reusable, responsive web components for their clients. Soon, they’ll be launching a smart data-management platform that would help enterprises collect, summarize and analyse data from various parts of their business.

With 5 people in their team as of now, they are a non-funded organisation and are working on sweat-equity/Re-investment model. "The directors at Infyz and YQLabs resp., Mr. Srinivas Ramireddy and Mr. M. Venkatesh have been instrumental in helping us get started, with their logistical and moral support. We also run our ideas and issues past some of our clients and friends, who act as our support base", says Sathvik.

Also, about the self-doubt that might crawl into your mind during the tough times, Ravi says "We have been through some lean times and some great times, but we always keep in mind that we started with nothing and at the very worst we'll just go back there, a place from where we can build ourselves up again. We've seen that there are plenty of opportunities waiting for anyone who can exploit them, so if one experiment fails, we know we can always try another. We are generally risk-averse and tend not to put at stake more than we can earn back quickly. That said, as we built our own path, we surely have made many mistakes along the way, the key thing was learning from them and making sure we never made the same mistake again. For instance, we massively underestimated the scope of work to be done in our very first project, but going by our philosophy of delivering on what we promised, no matter what, we went ahead and delivered at a loss. We soon figured out how to estimate things better and haven’t run into that big of an estimation error since. Try not to worry too much about things, just try to understand them and do your best."

'To be the best blade of the grass' and 'to never compromise on your principles' are the couple of key philosophies that this organisation works on and tend to hold onto them strongly for a good, long run to come.
