Infosys (NSE, BSE, NYSE: INFY), a global leader in AI-first business consulting and technology services, today unveiled a new suite of AI-powered fan experiences in partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), the governing body of tennis in Great Britain. Introduced across the LTA grass court season, these experiences build on the ongoing strategic collaboration between Infosys and LTA and reflect their shared commitment to advancing innovation and using AI responsibly. These enhancements will help deliver more engaging, richer, and connected experiences for tennis fans while preserving the integrity and traditions of the game.

The latest innovations mark a change in how fans engage with tennis, moving from passive viewing to more immersive and participatory experiences. Leveraging its innovative AI-first offering Infosys Topaz, powered by generative and agentic AI, Infosys will deliver real time insights, intelligent storytelling, personalization, and responsible AI governance throughout the season. This will help enable deeper match understanding and deliver more meaningful fan interactions before, during, and beyond live play across multiple tournaments.

New AI Powered Innovations Across the LTA Grass Court Season Include:
  • Infosys Match Center: A unified digital destination bringing together live scores, draws, schedules, results, player profiles, match statistics, head to head comparisons, fan polls, and AI powered commentary, enabling fans to follow the tournament seamlessly in real time.
  • AI Commentary: Powered by Infosys’ proprietary AI models and agentic AI framework, delivering context aware narratives and match insights for a global audience, supported by a human in the loop monitoring approach to ensure accuracy and responsibility.

  • Fan Polls: Interactive features that enable fans to participate in key moments, fostering shared engagement around players and matches.
  • Match Stats and Head to Head Insights: Data driven visualizations and comparisons that help fans better understand player performance, playing styles, and match dynamics.
At the HSBC Championships at The Queen’s Club, scheduled from June 6 – 21, 2026, Infosys will bring its on site innovations to life through a dedicated Fan Zone, where fans can meet Rally and experience VR Tennis. Rally is an advanced AI-powered humanoid with enhanced audio and computer-vision capabilities. It delivers personalized interactions, whether it’s capturing memories in Selfie Mode, engaging in tennis-themed conversations, or exploring match insights powered by real-time data. Operating under strict responsible AI principles, Rally ensures secure, tennis-focused interactions, making it a standout feature of the Infosys Fan Zone on ground. VR Tennis will further immerse fans by enabling them to design and play in a stadium of their own creation, using voice prompts that are transformed into interactive virtual arenas through generative AI.

Chris Pollard, Managing Director, Commercial & Operations, LTA, said, “Our partnership with Infosys is focused on making deep investments in elevating fan engagement with tennis in a digital first world. Sumit Virmani, Global Chief Marketing Officer, Infosys, said, “The LTA grass court season is a defining chapter in the global tennis calendar, setting the stage for the journey to Wimbledon and drawing heightened attention from players and fans worldwide. Rooted in British heritage yet watched by a global audience, this season represents a unique opportunity to reimagine how fans engage with the sport. AI-Powered Tennis Training Platform Wins ₹1 Crore Grant for Social Change Through Sport

AI-Powered Tennis Training Platform Wins ₹1 Crore Grant for Social Change Through Sport

Tennis training in India may soon get more accessible, thanks to a pair of young players who are using artificial intelligence to fill the coaching gap that persists beyond big cities.

Aadish Shelke from Aurangabad and Bhagyashri Meena from Mumbai — both 21-year-old tennis players and Computer Science students at IIIT Pune — have developed NextPlayAI, a platform that analyses tennis videos using machine learning to offer personalised feedback on strokes, footwork and match movements. The aim: to help budding tennis players from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities access guidance that usually requires expensive academies and elite coaches.

The duo’s innovation earned them a Samsung Solve for Tomorrow grant under the category Social Change through Sport and Technology. The platform is part of Samsung’s flagship education programme that supports youth-led tech solutions for real-world challenges. This year, four winning teams received ₹1 crore incubation support at IIT Delhi to scale their ideas.

Shelke said the idea emerged from the reality that tennis remains concentrated in a few urban pockets. “Tennis coaching often feels like a luxury,” he said. “In a city like Aurangabad, high-quality infrastructure and expert coaching are extremely limited. Many promising players drop out because they can’t get the right support at the right time.”

NextPlayAI helps players record their practice sessions and compare them with professional benchmarks — from serve mechanics to racket angles and on-court movement. Meena said the goal is to make tennis learning affordable and accessible. “There is so much valuable footage and data on elite players. We wanted to bring that intelligence to young athletes everywhere, especially those outside big metros,” she said.

Through the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow mentorship, the team refined their approach using design thinking to ensure the tool adapts to different learning styles. “Every tennis player has a unique rhythm and technique,” Shelke said. “The AI has to recognise individuality, not force uniformity.”

The duo now plans to collaborate with district sports associations and tennis academies to pilot the platform across smaller towns. They also want to build a team of developers and players from similar backgrounds — those who know firsthand the challenges of pursuing tennis from outside the mainstream circuit.

“We want to see more tennis champions emerge from places people don’t expect,” Meena said. “Talent exists everywhere — opportunity must too.”

As India looks beyond cricket to build a broader sporting culture, innovations like these aim to ensure that future tennis stars aren’t limited by their pin code.

This Wimbledon, IBM WatsonX is Powering New Generative AI Feature for Personalised Player Stories at the Championship

This Wimbledon, IBM WatsonX is Powering New Generative AI Feature for Personalised Player Stories at the Championship

The Wimbledon Championships, commonly known simply as Wimbledon, is starting from 1st July. The oldest tennis tournament in the world is regarded by many as the most prestigious. The upcoming Wimbledon 2024 will be played over 14 days, starting from Monday, July 1, and concluding on Sunday, July 14. The schedule includes Gentlemen's and Ladies' Singles matches in the initial days, followed by Doubles and Mixed Doubles events.

This year, IBM and The All England Lawn Tennis Club have introduced a fascinating new feature for the Wimbledon digital experience: "Catch Me Up." This innovative tool leverages match data with generative AI from IBM's AI and data platform, watsonx, to keep fans updated on the world's leading players as they progress through The Championships. Here's how it works:
  • Personalized Player Cards: The "Catch Me Up" feature displays pre and post-match player cards on wimbledon.com and the Wimbledon 2024 App. These cards are tailored based on user preferences and data, including location and myWimbledon profile. They start with users' favorite players.
  • Pre-Match Insights: Before matches, the feature provides analysis of recent player performance and likelihood-to-win predictions.
  • Post-Match Highlights: After matches, the player cards include key statistics and highlights.
Additionally, "Catch Me Up" creates longer-form daily summaries of play, enhancing the overall fan experience.

The announcement comes as new research from IBM and Morning Consult reveals that 55% of global tennis fans surveyed think AI will have a positive impact on sports. When considering how generative AI could improve their experience, these respondents prioritised real-time updates (36%), personalised content (31%), and unique insights (30%).

Approximately one-third (31%) of global tennis fans surveyed use multiple devices while watching sporting events, primarily to get more information, watch multiple matches at the same time, and interact with other fans. In addition, nearly half (47%) of them engage with additional content on tennis daily or weekly and rank summarisation and personalisation as the two most important features of sports content.

The underlying technology behind this feature is IBM's Granite Large Language Model (LLM), which generates AI-driven text using the capabilities of the watsonx platform. It has been trained on the Wimbledon editorial style and will be monitored by the All England Club.

This year, Wimbledon is also expanding its coverage using generative AI to include a broader range of matches, including wheelchair events, to cater to its diverse international audience. The redesigned digital match center, known as IBM Slamtracker, will offer bullet point-based match previews and post-match reviews for both ladies' and gentlemen's singles matches on the Wimbledon App and wimbledon.com

To recall, in this year's French Open Tennis Tournament dubbed as Roland-Garros 2024, the Indian IT giant Infosys partnered with the French Tennis Federation to introduce several AI-first innovations, marking a significant evolution in their sixth year of collaboration. Infosys also partnered with Tennis Australia at the 2024 Australian Open (AO) to bring generative AI technologies for fan engagement, player performance, and digital content creation.
