Union Bank of India Signs an MoU With IIT (BHU) Varanasi for Setting Up a Joint Incubation Centre

An MoU was signed between IIT (BHU) Varanasi and Union Bank of India for setting up a joint incubation centre. IIT (BHU) Varanasi Dean-(R&D) Vikas Kumar Dubey and Union Bank Zonal Head, Varanasi, Girish Joshi signed the MoU in the presence of Director of IIT (BHU) Varanasi, Sri Pramod Kumar Jain.

The name of this incubation centre will be ‘IIT (BHU) Varanasi-Union Bank of India Incubation Centre’. The JIC is being set up with financial support from Union Bank of India and the operations will be managed by IIT (BHU) Varanasi.

For Union Bank of India, it is mandatory to serve the society and the customers of the Bank by financing technological advancements in both manufacturing and services in line with the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Through the Incubation Centre, Union Bank will provide all kinds of financial support to the youth for self-employment. The Director of IIT (BHU) Varanasi also welcomed the proposal to initiate technological advancement research program based on the feedback of the entrepreneurs who are customers of Union Bank of India.

India's 1st Solar Mission 'Aditya L-1' Launching By December

By the end of this year ISRO will launch the Aditya L1 mission. It is India's first solar mission.

IIT-BHU astronomers are also involved in this project.

Workshop on India's first solar mission 'Aditya L-1' satellite began at IIT-BHU. The workshop stated that the 'Aditya L1' satellite will be launched from ISRO by the end of December month. This will bring out the hidden secrets of the sun. Many astronomers of IIT-BHU are also involved in this 'Aditya L1' satellite mission project. IIT BHU scientists have earlier designed several satellite devices.

Aditya L1 is the first space based observatory class Indian solar mission to study the Sun. The spacecraft is planned to be placed in a halo orbit around the Lagrangian point 1 (L1) of the Sun-Earth system, which is about 1.5 million km from the Earth.

During the workshop, astronomers at IIT-BHU reported that it would be projected at the Lagarajian-1 point of space. It has a number of devices installed that will explain the physical and their raels of plasma processes equipped with a variety of energies in solar environments. This will provide information about the weather of the space and the entire conditions. Space will also predict the weather. At the same time, there will also be many new information about coronal heating, explosions on the surface of the sun and solar wind.

Scientist of Physics at IIT-BHU, Dr. Abhishek Srivastava said that in view of this huge potential of 'Aditya-L1' mission, a scientific workshop is being held in the institute on — "What are the challenges in solar physics and heliospheric physics" and "How we will solve them during the missio".

The Aditya-L1 mission carries a suit of seven scientific payloads to carry out systematic study of the Sun. This suit of Aditya L1 payloads are expected to provide most crucial information to understand the problems of coronal heating, Coronal Mass Ejection, pre-flare and flare activities, and their characteristics, dynamics of space weather, study of the propagation of particles, and fields in the interplanetary medium etc.

The science payloads of Aditya-L1 are being indigenously developed by different laboratories in the country.

The VELC instrument is being developed at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore; SUIT instrument at Inter University Centre for Astronomy & Astrophysics, Pune; ASPEX instrument at Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad; PAPA payload at Space Physics Laboratory, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Thiruvananthapuram; SOLEXS and HEL10S payloads at UR Rao Satellite Centre, Bangalore, and the Magnetometer payload at the Laboratory for Electro Optics Systems, Bangalore. All the payloads are being developed with the close collaboration of various centres of ISRO.

IIT Kanpur and IIT BHU tie up with India Accelerator to change the face of entrepreneurship in India

India Accelerator (IA), a Launch pad for early-stage startups, with a potential to create disproportionate value and Algo8 launch Deep Tech ecosystem in IIT campuses. The first cohorts are to be created in IIT Kanpur and IIT BHU and would go live in summer semesters.

The Gurgaon based company runs mentorship driven acceleration programs for Technology start-ups in artificial intelligence (AI), Block chain, Consumer space, Finance, Gaming, e-commerce and AgriTech.

Started in 2017 with an idea to achieve both a financial return and a positive economic & social impact, the guiding principle of IA is to stimulate the establishment and growth of start-up ecosystem and to increase the number of successful companies originating and developing in India.

Algo8 is an Indo Canadian AI/ML deep tech firm that specialises in systemising tacit knowledge in O&G, Process Industry, Healthcare, Retail, Telecom and BFSI. They have designed developed and deployed cutting edge Data and AI tech for large organisation and government in India Canada UK and US.

Together at Prithvi, both will create an environment for precision in skills, global contexts and connections, cash to create and enable new gen tech entrepreneurs. Focus is AI/ML enabled deep tech startups incubation and acceleration through a joint program.

On this occasion, the coordinator of MCIIE, Prof. P.K. Mishra, IIT BHU said that "Collaboration between IIT BHU and India Accelerator will help further strengthen the startup ecosystem in the campus. It will help students engage with industry through structural program run by India Accelerator. Further this association would help our students take locational advantage to engage with different stakeholders in their startup journeys. "

IIT-BHU Startup Shortlisted Among The top 20 Semi-Finalists In The Global Cleantech Innovation Programme

Aquvio, a startup based out of the incubation centers of IIT-BHU (Malviya Center for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship) has been selected to participate in the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme - India Chapter along with 19 other teams. They had been working on optimizing the process of water filtration by significantly reducing the wastage of raw water at quite a low cost. They had entered their project under the water efficiency category in the competition. Only two start-ups have been selected from Uttar Pradesh.

The young tech startup claims to have India’s first "water conserving" water purifying technology. They have devised a cost - effective method for water filtration based on the process of reverse osmosis. Using this technology they are able to deliver potable water and at the same time are able to achieve a higher recovery rate of the waste water as well, making this a very efficient model.

Naveen Kumar and Rohit Mittal, both civil engineers from IIT-BHU were very happy with their success in the competition so far. They have supported by the former director of IIT-BHU, SN Upadhyay, senior scientist at Institute of Radioecology and Radiation Protection, Hannover (Germany), Dharmendra Kumar Gupta and former professor at the department of electronics engineering, IIT-BHU, MS Maun in their work with their immense knowledge and experience. The finalists from this competition will be given the chance to showcase their idea and product at the Cleantech Open Global Forum in Silicon Valley, California.

The startup has already been able to raise 6.4 lakh INR in the form of seed funding from this incubator itself. Apart from this, they have also seen an excellent growth rate in the last one year. They are all set to enter the market in Delhi and the NCR region with their efficient innovation.
