Soon A Technology Business Incubator in IET Lucknow, Two New Courses in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science

The Technology Business Incubator will be set up at the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), a constituent institution of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU). The Executive Council of the University gave in-principle consent on this on Tuesday. Now the proposal related to this will be sent to the Department of Science and Technology for approval. Vice Chancellor Prof. In the meeting chaired by Vinay Kumar Pathak, it was also agreed to start two new courses in IET.

After getting the grant from Department of Science and Technology (DST), government of India, in the Technology Business Incubator, work will be done on Electric Vehicle and Industrial Automation. The institute will train the people associated with it and also conduct research in this area.

Electric vehicle is a big need of today, in view of which the institute has started work on it. In the meeting, two new courses will be started in IET from the new session, which include MTech (Artificial Intelligence and Data Science) and BTech Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence).

Pro. Pathak informed that in compliance with the new education policy in the meeting, BTech Computer Science in Hindi will also be conducted in the affiliated institutions of the university. Work on this has started after getting the green signal from the Academic Council in the past.

In the meeting, it was also approved for compassionate appointment to the dependents of one teacher and two employees who were serving and recently died in the university. The minutes of the Building Committee, Academic Council and Finance Committee were also approved in the meeting. In the meeting, Padmashree Prof. Manindra Agrawal Deputy Director, IITA Kanpur, Special Secretary, Technical Education Department, Kripa Shankar Singh, Vice Chancellor Prof. Vineet Kansal, Registrar Nandlal Singh, Finance Officer GP Singh etc. were present.

IET India Launches 'The IET Future Tech Panel'

IET India launched its 'IET Future Tech Panel' on 24 April, 2020. Chaired by Dr Rishi Bhatnagar, President, Aeris Communications India, the panel is conceptualised and designed to provide a neutral platform for interdisciplinary thought and action in areas of future technologies.

In 2015, the Indian arm of the IET launched the first of its thought leadership panels on the Internet of Things. The IET IoT Panel launched with 5 working groups, over the next 5 years engaged with key ministries of the government of India, contributed to policies and also organised 4 successful editions of IoT India Congress - the most important confluence of digital technology stakeholders in the region. On the same lines, IET India has now launched the IET Future Tech Panel.

Recognising the importance of future technologies, Dr Rishi Bhatnagar, Chair of The IET Future Tech Panel, said, "The IET Future Tech Panel is working on a vision to be the thought-hub for future technologies as well as future technologists. The panel is starting off with 11 working groups that will be working towards disseminating knowledge about future technologies and creating roadmaps for their adoption." Led by the volunteers of IET India, the IET Future Tech panel will be an inclusive, neutral and credible platform working towards development of country-wide roadmaps and ecosystem building.

We had over 100 attendees from renowned companies both international and national like Broadband India Forum, Capgemini, Philips Healthcare, Siemens, Wipro, RPG Group, Tata Group, AT&T, Wells Fargo, Deloitte, IBM, Tech Mahindra, HCL among others.

Speaking about the launch of the IET Future Tech Panel, Shekhar Sanyal, Country Head and Director, IET India said, "IET India is proud of the role played in building awareness and deployment of technology in India through our thought leadership initiatives around IoT, Mobility and Future of Work." Adding to it, Mr Sanyal also said, "The IET Future Tech Panel understands and promotes the need to bring together key industry stakeholders to be one step ahead of the changes happening around us owing to technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Virtual reality, ML and Block chain."

India's Largest Study to Understand the Impact of the Pandemic on Industry Launched by the Global Engineering Body - the IET

As India completes close to a month of lockdown major challenges across industries - both at individual and enterprise levels are now becoming clearer.

The Indian arm of the IET has announced the start of a massive dialogue with industry and academia to understand these issues. Under the banner of its already established IET India Digital Conversations, this study will create a platform for professionals across various career stages, to voice their deepest concerns regarding the uncertainties they envisage. These discussions named 'Your post COVID strategies' will throw up the biggest challenges of India's professional world and how the future will completely change due to them.

IET India would like to invite people from varied backgrounds and experience to participate in this study. The format of this study will be similar to a focus group discussion - therefore, every attendee gets a chance, to not just share their perspectives but also hear about the challenges that their peers are grappling with. IET India Launches 'IET India Digital Conversations' Amidst Growing Concerns about the Pandemic

The IET organises more than 200 events across the country in line with its vision of 'Working to engineer a better world'. These include conferences, seminars, networking events and panel discussions. Each of these focuses on the latest ideas, technologies, insights and debates on key topics affecting engineers and technicians across the globe. IET India has re-engineered these events in response to the global pandemic - COVID-19 and the resultant lockdown across the world and has launched IET India Digital Conversations.

As a part of the IET's continuous quest to deliver insights that will help its members and partners tide over this challenge, these Digital Conversations will feature national as well as global experts from various fields to exchange ideas on critical issues around work, tech and move. Episode 1 of these conversations dealt with 'Navigating your career through COVID-19' and was held on 27 March, 2020. Industry leaders and thought leaders walked us through the aspects of change that will impact our career within the framework of Tech, Work and Move. Episode 2 was on "Mind - Your own business, Maintaining our sanity at the times of a pandemic".

The session focused on mental wellness and the impact of lockdown & isolation and featured mental health experts from around the world. We understood how to recognise the potential challenges that we could be dealing with due to the lockdown and the best practices to avoid them. The topics ranged from loneliness, anxiety, self-isolation and stress during the current uncertainty.

Episode 3 of IET India Digital Conversations scheduled on 17 April, 2020 is titled, 'Adapt, Improvise and Overcome: The essential skills post the pandemic'.
