Geospatial Intelligence Startup Intents Mobi Raises $1 Mn Funding in Bridge Round Led by DevX Venture Fund

Geospatial Intelligence Startup Intents Mobi Raises $1 Mn Funding in Bridge Round Led by DevX Venture Fund
Intents Mobi Founders Tabrez Alam & Naresh Kachchi
  • Had raised 600K USD in seed round in April 2021
  • New funding will be used to acquire new customers & service existing ones.
  • Allocations for increasing insights & geocodes by 5X
  • Recent changes in national GIS policy by Government came as a huge boost
Gurgaon based Intents Mobi, a geospatial intelligence startup, today announced that it has raised $1 Million in a funding round led by DevX Venture Fund. The round also saw participation from other investors like Unnati Labs and multiple marquee strategic angels from Logistics & Mobility sector whose ventures are backed by Tier1 VCs.

The company plans to use the funds to invest in its tech capabilities, increase the collection of GIS information for the country and to further pump up their enterprise sales. Founded by Naresh Kumar Kachhi and Tabrez Alam while joined by Balasubramaniam S and Prakash Velusamy, the company is now 15 people strong with 10 members purely focussing on the technology development. The company utilises a network of ‘Scouts’ which is a community of over 700,000 users who contribute to the data generation for location intelligence.

Speaking on the occasion, Naresh, Founder - Intents Mobi, said, “It is heartening to bag funding at this crucial stage when we are focussing on growing our capabilities and widening our tech stack. At Intents Mobi, we work on solving the issues with GIS data that impacts every industry connected to mobility.”

Further to this, Naresh commented, “India is a unique country with one of the highest densities of roads in the world and addresses that are inconsistent. Hence we focus on gathering situational awareness information about the two most critical elements of routing: the destination and the route. Our hardware independent technology ensures that we are able to map the entire country without investing heavily in capex. The funds will be used for increasing the collection of GIS information for India and for further product development. Since we already generate insights for almost 4.5 crore kms of roads per day and process 3 million geocodes every month, the funds will enable us to increase this by 5X and cover the 50 most populous cities of the country by the end of the year”.

With their immense understanding of the location intelligence segment, Intents Mobi is having a huge impact on every industry connected to and dependent on mobility. Envisioning the all-pervasive impact their location intelligence will have across segments, industries and markets is extremely heartening. Most importantly, it is a true “Make-in-India story”!

Intents Mobi counts some of the biggest names in various industries as their clients including Here Maps, TomTom and Honda among others. The startup aims to raise their Series A of over $5 Million by the end of this financial year.

Introducing 'DevX', Gujarat's Largest Startup Accelerator Coming Up In Ahmedabad

As PM Narendra Modi's ambitious plan 'Start-up India' is about to celebrate its two-year anniversary, this year in August, a new milestone in the start-up field is to be achieved in PM's home state Gujarat creating co-working spaces for tech startups to incubate and get nurtured.

An Ahmedabad-based end-to-end IT services provider, Dev Information Technology Ltd, has announced setting up a massive Accelerator Center for startups in Gujarat, making it a one-stop solution for entrepreneurs to conceive, develop, test and commercially rollout their ideas.

Called as DevX, the startup accelerator will be Gujarat's largest accelerator which will also have co-working space of about 15,000-18,000 square feet at single location with seating capacity for over 250 people.

DevX will focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IOT), Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Financial technology areas.

The first phase of DevX will get ready by May 2018 with about 10,000 sqft area. The full commissioning will happen by December 2018.

An individual startup can hire upto 1-100 seats for a duration of one month to one year at DevX. The Common business center will also help them use the common utilities. The charges will start from Rs. 7,500 per month per seat which includes mentorship, assistance on Intellectual Property rights as well as using the common infrastructure besides the working space.

The above development was first reported in Business Line.

Jaimin Shah, Managing Director and CEO of Dev IT told the business daily, "India has already leap-frogged in the start-up space, while Gujarat is matching the footsteps. Currently, the challenges that we face is the angel investment, mentor-ship, quality of ideas and an accelerator space for tech startups."

Earlier this week, Ratan Tata, in his ₹900 million plan, has also announced that Tata Trusts will be setting up lab-style startup incubators across the country.

Additionally, in this month, Haryana state government has also announced the plan to set up an startup incubator called 'Global Start-up Village', which will be India's biggest startup hub and will be located in Gurugram in next couple of years.
