Hyderabad: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the NMICPS Technology Innovation Hub on Autonomous Navigation (TiHAN) - IIT Hyderabad (IITH) and the Andhra Pradesh Drones Corporation (APDC), a Government of Andhra Pradesh undertaking and the nodal agency for Drone City development in the State, to establish a structured framework for collaboration towards the development of Drone City and the broader Drone ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh. The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Hon’ble Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Government of India and Prof. B S Murty, Director, IITH.

Under the MoU, TiHAN–IITH will serve as a Technical and Knowledge Partner to APDC, providing technical expertise, research inputs, and strategic support for the conceptualisation, planning, development, and operational support of the Drone City and allied Drone ecosystem initiatives. The collaboration brings together TiHAN–IITH’s expertise in Autonomous Navigation, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Sensors and related emerging technologies with APDC’s mandate for the planning, development, operationalisation, and promotion of Drone City and allied Drone ecosystem infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh.

Murty, Director, IIT Hyderabad, said on the partnership, "The development of a strong drone ecosystem requires close collaboration between government, academia, industry and the innovation community. This MoU between Andhra Pradesh Drones Corporation and TiHAN–IIT Hyderabad brings together the State’s vision for Drone City with IIT Hyderabad’s strengths in research, technology development, testing and innovation. We look forward to supporting Andhra Pradesh in building a globally relevant ecosystem for drones through knowledge sharing, technical expertise, capacity building and collaborative innovation. The MoU further envisages cooperation in policy, standards and best practices relevant to Drone operations, testing, innovation and ecosystem development. The partnership will also focus on skilling and capacity building through curriculum development, specialised training modules, certification programmes, workshops and other capacity-building initiatives for government officials, industry stakeholders, startups, and students. The collaboration is also expected to provide a platform for joint research projects, proofs of concept, pilot programmes, innovation challenges, and other initiatives aimed at fostering stronger academic–industry–government collaboration within the Drone ecosystem.

Department of Science and Technology (DST), under National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS), has sanctioned the prestigious Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) in the technology vertical of Autonomous Navigation and Data Acquisition Systems (UAVs, ROVs, etc.). Agastya Green Energy Limited, a part of Anubhav Agarwal Group, today announced its expansion into Integrated 12 GW Ingot and Wafer manufacturing at the Orvakal Industrial Area in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh with a project cost of approximately ₹7,800 crore. The expansion will complement the company’s existing solar cell and module manufacturing capabilities.

The project will establish 12 GW each of integrated ingot and wafer manufacturing capacity, strengthening Agastya Energy’s domestic manufacturing capabilities and enabling greater domestic value addition within India’s solar manufacturing sector. The Pooja marks the commencement of this next phase of growth, which is expected to generate 3,500+ employment opportunities and further Agastya Energy’s vision of building an integrated and globally competitive solar photovoltaic manufacturing platform in India.

Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi today virtually laid the foundation stone and unveiled the plaque for ASIP Technologies semiconductor manufacturing facility at Tarluvada, Visakhapatnam. The ₹2,500 crore Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) project is Andhra Pradesh's and South India's first semiconductor manufacturing facility approved under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM 1.0).

Shri. N. Chandrababu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh joined the Prime Minister virtually for the foundation stone ceremony.

Mr. Amitesh Kumar Sinha, CEO, ISM, Govt. of India, Mr. Bhaskar Katamneni IAS, Secretary, IT, Electronics & Communication, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Mallavarapu Surya Teja, IAS, Special Secretary, ITE & C, Govt of Andhra Pradesh were present at the ceremony along with senior government officials, industry leaders and global partners.

The 30-acre facility, established with an initial investment of over ₹460 crore in partnership with APACT Co., South Korea, as its technology partner, will have an annual production capacity of 96 million chips. It will serve high-growth sectors, including artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing, data centres, and high-speed communications.

ASIP also plans to expand the facility with an additional investment of over ₹2,000 crore to further scale up its advanced semiconductor packaging operations.

The project is expected to create over 1,000 direct high-skilled jobs and 1,600 indirect jobs.

Once operational, ASIP will commence production with wire-bond and Flip-Chip Ball Grid Array (BGA) packaging technologies, followed by the introduction of advanced 2.5D and 3D packaging capabilities within two to three years.

Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi in his address commended Andhra Pradesh’s IT talent pool in software. Now, with the groundbreaking of the semiconductor manufacturing facility, the state is well-poised to lead in the semiconductor manufacturing sector, and the government is committed to backing this emerging manufacturing growth story which is an important part of the Viksit Bharat mission. “

India currently imports virtually all semiconductor chips used in its electronics industry. This OSAT facility addresses a critical gap in the country's semiconductor value chain, where packaging and testing account for roughly 30% to 40% of a chip's manufacturing cost.

The company expects to localize a significant portion of its supply chain over the next three to five years while building partnerships with academic institutions, including IIT Tirupati and IIT Hyderabad. The facility will also include an in-house semiconductor training center aimed at developing a skilled workforce for India's growing semiconductor sector.

Sustainability features such as solar power generation and water recycling systems will be integrated into the project, with the goal of establishing a high-standard, environmentally responsible manufacturing operation.

Dalmia Bharat Limited (DBL), one of India's leading cement manufacturing companies, today laid the foundation stone for its second manufacturing unit in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh.

The foundation laying ceremony was graced by Shri Nara Lokesh, Hon'ble Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Real Time Governance and Human Resources Development, Government of Andhra Pradesh, along with Mr. Puneet Dalmia, Managing Director & CEO, Dalmia Bharat Limited, senior government officials and the company's leadership.

With an investment of ₹3100 crore, the project will establish a next-generation integrated manufacturing facility, designed to produce one of the world's greenest cement. This expansion is a part of the announcement made by the company in 2025.

To be commissioned by Q3 FY28, the new Kadapa unit will become Dalmia Bharat’s largest integrated manufacturing facilities in southern India with a clinker capacity of 6.1 MTPA and cement manufacturing capacity of 9.6 MTPA. The commissioning is expected to create approximately 1000 direct and indirect additional job opportunities.

The Andhra Pradesh Government is taking significant steps to strengthen the state’s power infrastructure by establishing a Green Energy corridor and expanding the electricity transmission network. As part of Green Energy Corridor Phase-III, proposals worth nearly Rs 22,000 crore have been prepared to integrate 18 GW of green energy into the main power grid.

Reviewing on power sector at Secretariat today Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu enquired on measures being undertaken to expand the transmission network under the Green Energy Corridor. Officials informed the Chief Minister that steps are being taken to connect approximately 18 GW of green energy to the main grid under Green Energy Corridor Phase-III.

The proposed integration includes 11 GW of solar power and around 7 GW generated through pumped storage projects. To support this, the government plans to lay 2,261 km of new transmission lines and establish five major pooling stations with a combined capacity of 9,500 MW.The pooling stations are proposed at Mudigubba, Talupula, Ramayapatnam, Porumamilla and Koppaka.

The Chief Minister stated that Andhra Pradesh has set a target of generating 160 GW of green energy, accordingly, power infrastructure must be developed to meet future requirements. He noted that the Green Energy Corridor would be highly beneficial in supplying power to upcoming data centres in the state and would significantly enhance investment opportunities across sectors.

The review also covered implementation of PM Surya Ghar and PM-KUSUM schemes, along with progress in solarization of government buildings.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that the solarization process for government buildings, with a capacity of 200 MW, has already begun. The programme is being implemented through the RESCO model, with solar panel installations under the net metering system.

As part of a pilot initiative, 78 Gurukul schools and hostels in Chittoor district have been selected. Further, 2,898 schools and hostels have been identified for solarization to transform them into Net Zero and healthy campuses.

The Chief Minister observed that increased solar energy usage in government offices and schools would substantially reduce the electricity burden on the state and directed officials to focus intensively on implementation.

Officials informed that Andhra Pradesh currently ranks fourth in PM Surya Ghar implementation and the Chief Minister instructed departments to strive for the top position.

He also directed officials to complete installation of solar panels in the remaining SC and ST households by the end of August, after already covering 1,35,821 homes. Additionally, under a subsidy programme for BC communities, the government aims to install solar panels in 10 lakh homes with Rs 20,000 subsidy support and officials directed to expedite implementation.

The Chief Minister also instructed officials to accelerate the establishment of EV charging stations across the state. Officials informed that the process for setting up 577 EV charging stations at 131 locations has already commenced.

Officials also presented initiatives being undertaken with support from ‘Pravah’, an organisation associated with Stanford University, along with an Artificial Intelligence Lab, to reduce technical power losses in the AP Eastern Power Distribution Company (APEPDCL) region.

They informed the Chief Minister that Andhra Pradesh is developing the country’s first Digital Twin Grid for power supply management.

Officials further briefed the Chief Minister on electricity demand projections. Between June and November 2026, peak power demand in the state is expected to reach 12,226 MW, while daily demand may range between 226 and 261 million units.

Officials stated that on May 21, the state recorded a peak demand of 15,016 MW, while electricity consumption till May 27 stood at 7,060 million units. Compared to 2025, electricity consumption during April–May 2026 increased by 14.48% to 16.77%, they said.

A delegation from the World Economic Forum (WEF) met Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to discuss the implementation roadmap for the country’s first Thematic Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) established isn Andhra Pradesh.

An agreement had earlier been signed between AP Transco and the WEF for setting up the C4IR. The centre will undertake studies in areas such as green energy, energy transition and cyber resilience.

The Chief Minister stated that Andhra Pradesh should emerge as a global hub for green energy, digital transformation and cybersecurity.

The Chief Minister instructed that C4IR should function with a results-oriented approach and directed officials to ensure Andhra Pradesh reaches a stage where its progress can be showcased at the next Davos summit.

In a landmark move that could reshape India’s AI and digital infrastructure landscape, the Andhra Pradesh government has approved the allotment of nearly 855 acres of land to Reliance Industries Ltd for the development of a giga-scale AI Data Center (AIDC) and Cable Landing Station (CLS) in Vizianagaram district.

The project, carrying a proposed cumulative investment of ₹1,08,010 crore, marks one of the largest AI and data center investments announced in India so far and significantly strengthens Andhra Pradesh’s ambition to emerge as the country’s leading AI and digital infrastructure hub.

Under G.O. Ms No. 30 issued by the IT, Electronics & Communications Department on May 20, 2026, the state approved the allotment of 854.97 acres across Polipalli, Bhogapuram West and Bhogapuram East villages in Vizianagaram district for the project. The proposal also includes a dedicated Cable Landing Station — a critical component that would directly connect Andhra Pradesh to global internet and data traffic networks.

The approval comes as Andhra Pradesh aggressively positions Vizag and the north coastal belt as India’s next-generation AI and hyperscale data center corridor, leveraging abundant renewable energy, port connectivity, subsea cable access, and large land parcels.

Tailor-Made Incentives for Mega AI Investment

The state government has extended a customized package of fiscal and non-fiscal incentives to Reliance under the Andhra Pradesh Data Center Policy 4.0 (2024–29), which was designed to attract advanced AI-enabled data center projects.

GPS Renewables to Build India's Ist Ethanol-to-Jet SAF Plant at NTPC's Green Hydrogen Hub, Andhra Pradesh

GPS Renewables (GPSR), a leading global full-stack renewable oil & gas company, has been awarded the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract by NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation) Limited to construct India’s first Ethanol-to-Jet (ETJ) Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) plant. The plant will be located at NTPC Green Energy Limited's (NGEL) Green Hydrogen Hub in Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh. 

As the primary contractor, GPS Renewables will deliver the project with its technology and engineering partners. Lummus Technology will provide the ETJ technology license and basic engineering for the process. Xytel India, a specialist in skid-mounted, modular, and fully automated pilot/mini plant solutions, will provide detailed engineering for the core process package.

GPS Renewables, supported by Lummus, will lead all engineering, including the Hydrogen Generation Package, and Offsites and Utilities, along with procurement, construction, start-up, and commissioning.

The plant will produce 1,800 tonnes per annum (TPA) SAF using ethanol derived from CO2. The plant will use a demonstrated process chain: ethanol-to-ethylene conversion, olefins oligomerisation, and hydroprocessing to produce SAF and renewable diesel.

GPS Renewables' scope runs through March 2029, covering full project construction and commissioning, and 1 year of operation post commissioning.
