Samsung, which is considered as one of the biggest and best electronics manufacturers in the world, has decided to go all in, in the world of Internet Of Things (IoT). The week saw the electronics giant announcing the launch of the Exynos i T200, Samsung's first processor optimised for IoT devices.
According to zdent, the newly launched chip will take security of IoT devices on another tangent altogether, and will also support wireless connections. The South Korean tech giant is hopeful that the processor, which also boosts of a Physically Unclonable function that prevents illegal copying, will give it an upper hand in the ever-growing IoT market.
According to recent statistics made available by analysts at ReportsnReports, from a market of $16 billion in 2016, IoT-driven devices are expected to reach a market cap exceeding $195 billion in 2023. This exponential growth is courtesy the ubiquitous manufacturing of smarter mobile, in-home, and transportation devices and the increased interest in capturing that data and enhance communication infrastructure. The aforementioned statistics are testimonial of the fact that not only is IoT the present, but it will surely also be a significant part of our future.
The newly debuted Exynos i T200 chip is a member of Samsung's Exynos range of mobile ARM processors. It comes with multiple cores and is capable of supporting multifunctionality. It supports 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connectivity, has Wi-Fi Alliance certification and Microsoft's Azure IoT certification, and also supports Open Connectivity Foundation suggested open-source IoT protocol standard IoTivity.
“The Exynos i T200 is an IoT solution optimized to deliver both the performance and security demanded in the IoT market,” said Ben Hur, Vice President of System LSI marketing at Samsung Electronics. “With various Exynos solution offerings, Samsung will deliver further differentiated value to not only mobile devices, but also non-mobile spaces, including automotive and IoT.”

In addition to the Exynos i T200, the giant has launched Tizen 4.0, the latest version of its operating system last month.
