Yahoo India has entered into a tie up with India's e-commerce giant Flipkart on November 13th, 2014. Under the tie-up, Yahoo will be required to host a direct gateway to Flipkart's marketplace on its India homepage. The Yahoo-Flipkart gateway is not that prominent or easily seen with a Flipkart tab, it is basically a co-branded site which can be accessed on the shopping tab on Yahoo’s India homepage.

According to a statement released by Yahoo on the Yahoo-Flipkart partnership, Yahoo India Managing Director said, "Online shopping is seeing increasing adoption with users in India. People are spending a significant time on the internet searching for products and deals. Flipkart is a market leader in Indian e-commerce, with a huge marketplace and an exciting range of products. With easy access to Flipkart directly from the Yahoo homepage, we believe that millions of users who visit the Yahoo network daily will enjoy not only premium content, but also an exciting shopping experience."

Mausam Bhatt, Online Marketing Senior Director, Flipkart said, "At Flipkart we are always looking for innovative of engaging the customer. Flipkart and Yahoo are both market leaders in their own space- and in a market where people are increasingly consuming content on digital platforms, a partnership like this helps bridge content and commerce to enhance the product discovery and purchase cycle for online shoppers."

This partnership will boost the customer base of Flipkart in a big way. The ecommerce giant recently also acquired stake in Myntra.com, which is another very successful Indian e-commerce company. The partnership will also help Flipkart in maintaining its ground and number one position from the fierce competition that it faces from Amazon India and Snapdeal.com.

The gateway can be accessed here: http://yahoo.store.flipkart.com/ .
