Government Launches 'Twitter Seva' Service, To Resolve Startups Queries In 3 Days

As announced few days back, the Commerce and Industry Ministry launched a new service, 'Twitter Seva', late yesterday, to address issues and grievances of startups, exporters and importers, and other stakeholders.

The sewa will address various queries of startups in a timebound manner. On has to just tweet #mocisewa with the question and commerce ministry will respond as soon as possible.




With the help of this facility, the government will try to resolve matters quickly and swiftly. Nirmala Sitharaman, Commerce Minister said queries will be resolved within three days. “All officers have been sensitised to respond to the tweets within a short time frame," she said.

An institutionalised mechanism with a special Twitter cell has been created in the ministry manned by a set of dedicated officers who will monitor and direct all the tweets to the concerned department. “Under this, anyone desirous of assistance from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry can use the hashtag #mociseva,” an official statement said.

Any queries on matters relating to Department of Commerce and Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) will be answered through this service.

To make the ambitious “Start up India , Stand up India” initiative a big success, the Ministry for Commerce and Industry is launching a new helpline for entrepreneurs on micro-blogging site Twitter. Called the " Twitter Seva" service, it will act as a helpline of sorts for entrepreneurs seeking funding, support or government ‪assistance of any kind. The service is likely to be launched on April 21.

This initiative will help startups to get connected to various stakeholders such as venture capitalists, incubation centres or iron out any issues with government clearances. According to government officials in the know, currently the process is manual where the top officials of the ministry including the union minister for commerce and industry Nirmala Sitharaman would manually scan all the tweets on a daily basis, direct complaints to the relevant authorities and revert with solutions.

Through this initiative with Twitter, a full blown software will be developed which will automate the whole process, working out a mechanism where grievances are automatically routed in real time to the concerned person, who works on it and feeds it back to the person.

Under this service, people can present their ideas to the government which can choose to take them forward.
