The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) – Hyderabad Chapter, today organized a curtain raiser event to share details about its initiative to foster entrepreneurship amongst school students under program run by TYE – TiE Young Entrepreneurs at Rockwell International School, Jubilee Hills.

TYE program designed to invoke the spirit of entrepreneurship in school kids was very well received by the students, parents and teachers as well. Industry experts and TYE team briefed around 200 students, parents, principals and student counselors from various schools about the initiative and the need to start thinking as an entreprenuer at an early age. The team provided the information through a presentation giving an overview of the program.

Details of TYE 2014-2015 Program

This season, to widen the reach of the program, around 40 students will be shortlisted for the TYE 2014-2015 program from the applications received from students of Grade 9th to 12th. Teams of 5-6 members of varied age, background & interest will be formed. The teams will get a dedicated mentor who will guide the team throughout the 16 weeks of an intensive and interactive Entrepreneurial Training programme.

In the first season of the program in 2013, 30 students were handpicked by TiE Hyderabad for this exclusive curriculum and the winner of Hyderabad chapter presented its business plan at the global event held at Canada. In fact, since 2007, TiE Hyderabad under its ‘Buddies’ program has been mentoring school students through experts from various domains and industries.

The program schedule for first 8 weeks of this season will include topics like Understanding Entrepreneurship, Opportunity Recognition, Marketing, Finance and Funding, Business Law, Business Models, Presentation, Virtual Business simulation and Team Building Skills. The following next 8 weeks will be allotted to the students to make business prototypes. The curriculum is developed to achieve 2 objectives in the young students, first and foremost to have basic knowledge required to develop an idea into a viable business plan and secondly have the required skills that can translate them into a professional in day to day activities. The overall program involves mentoring, inspirational talks, hands-on class room instruction, workshops by established industry leaders to cultivate creativity, self confidence & innovation. It also includes visits to companies and business plan creation.

All TYE Hyderabad Chapter level participants will get Certificates and the jury will then pick the winners presenting the best business plan in the month of December 2014. The winning team will represent TYE-Hyderabad on a global competitive platform in June 2015. The team will compete with best business plans received from all TiE Chapters across the globe. The top teams at the global level will jointly receive a cash prize of US$ 10,000. TiE Hyderabad will also reimburse INR 1,25,000 to each member of the winning team from Hyderabad towards the travel expenses to participate in the global competition.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Murali Bukkapatnam, President, TiE Hyderabad and Managing Director & CEO, Getdomestichelp.com said, “We are excited to see enthusiasm shown by the school students. In the last season, we saw some very innovative business ideas coming from these young students. This proves that young minds, if nurtured properly and guided to a meaningful direction, can come out with brilliant ideas as they don’t restrict their thoughts to any preconceived notions. We are sure that in this season also we will discover some amazing talent.”

The TYE program has been running successfully in India and across the globe over the years and a testimony to it is that in 2012 out of 30 students which The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Cambridge, US handpicked across the globe for its Student Entrepreneurial Programme “Launch”, had 3 alumni of TYE which shows the quality of the young talent groomed by TYE.

The interested students registered at the venue today for the TYE program 2014-2015. The interested students and parents can register online also at http://www.hyderabad.tie.org/tyehyd or by writing to tye@tiehyderabad.org.
