Overrule Launches Legal OS for Supreme Court

Overrule Launches Legal OS for Supreme Court

Overrule has officially announced the public launch of its integrated agentic legal operating system — a first‑of‑its‑kind platform purpose‑built for Indian lawyers, designed specifically for advocates and law firms practicing before the Supreme Court of India.

The OS offers comprehensive access to Supreme Court of India judgments with official SCR citations, as mandated by the Court, along with rulings from High Courts, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), and the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC).

Before its public debut, Overrule ran a six‑month private preview, during which over 100 Supreme Court advocates and several litigation‑focused law firms adopted the platform. Their feedback across alpha and beta testing stages shaped its workflows, features, and capabilities ahead of commercial release.

Microsoft Launches Windows 365, A Cloud PC Letting Users Run Windows on Any Device - Smartphones, Tablets or Desktop

Tech giant Microsoft announced a new product Windows 365.  Microsoft claims that Windows 365 is the world’s first cloud PC, allowing users to access this Windows through a web browser. Microsoft's goal is to have their windows run on every computer system. Under this, the company is now planning to give access to its popular operating systems Windows 10 and Windows 11 through a web browser.

A cloud PC is a personalized desktop, apps, settings, and content streamed securely from the cloud to the devices, be it a smartphone, a tablet or a desktop PC. It enables you to decrease costs while lowering the complexity of your environment as you deploy and manage virtual endpoints in Microsoft Endpoint Manager. No additional virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) expertise or resources are needed.

Windows 365 enables you to:
  • Procure, provision, and deploy in minutes, with optional automated OS updates.
  • Offers user anywhere access to their personalized Windows desktop experience.
  • Tailor compute and configurations for an elastic workforce.
  • Pick up where you left off on the device of your choice.
  • Optimize experiences on Windows endpoints.
  • Scale confidently with per-user pricing.
The Windows 365 service will be made available to businesses starting from August 2, and it will charge organizations on a monthly per user basis. Microsoft hasn’t revealed how much it will charge for providing the service.

In the new version of cloud computing and new version of  "stay from home", Microsoft is now giving the corporate sector the option of accessing its operating system through a web browser under the cloud computer scheme. These features will be available to companies in various subscription packages.

Microsoft general manager Wangui Maklevi said, "Windows 365 will provide instant boot experience features. This instant boot up will give the company's employees access to Windows on any device that supports web browsers." 11 offers great service on computers, but the company is betting it to target other computer operating systems such as Mac OS, Linux, iPads and even Android devices. Microsoft 365 Edition can be used from any device. Which can have the support of modern web browsers such as Microsoft's Edge browser or Google Chrome browser.

To use the new version of Microsoft OS, your device should have minimum of 2 GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage of 256 GB. The company will launch two versions of this Windows in the market which will be Business and Enterprise. This Windows will be available for Business only. Both these versions will require 12 configurations and any business can choose either of these two.

Microsoft To Unveil Next Generation of Windows This Month

Microsoft will unveil the next generation of Windows on June 24. The announcement comes a week after the company's CEO Satya Nadella teased major upgrades to the PC operating system for developers and creators.

Microsoft will announce about the event at the Windows event, which will be held on June 24 at 11am ET, and will going to be a virtual event, amid COVID pandemic. The event, as per Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, going to be the biggest update to Windows in over a decade.

Nadella has also promised to unlock a better economy for developers and creators within Windows itself.

Microsoft has also been working on a new app store for Windows in recent months, and rumours have suggested Microsoft will open its store up to all apps and rival payment platforms.

Codenamed 'Sun Valley', the next-gen Windows will see some significant UI changes to Windows under it.

The company confirmed last month that Windows 10X, its OS originally built for dual-screen devices, will no longer ship. The company is now rolling the visual elements of Windows 10X into the main version of Windows 10 instead.

It is also speculated that the new version of Windows is expected to come with visual changes such as new icons, an improved file explorer, and improved Bluetooth audio support.

Huawei Launching Its Android Competitor 'Harmony OS' Today

Chinese smartphone maker Huawei is set to roll out its Google’s Android competitor platform, Harmony OS, today. The operating system was first unveiled after the United States’ trade ban led Google to withdraw Huawei’s Android license last year.

The operating system is set to roll out to the company’s device today, on devices across Asia.

HarmonyOS 1.0 was announced in August 2019, and was first used by Huawei smart TVs for the Chinese market. HarmonyOS 2.0 was then announced in September 2020, and beta versions were available for selected Huawei smartphones from December 2020.

Huawei gadgets have been cut off from updating Google’s Android operating system since August, following a series of U.S. sanctions against the Shenzhen-based company. The ban also cost Huawei access to the U.S. company’s package of smartphone software known as Google Mobile Services, used widely across the industry.

Huawei claimed that HarmonyOS is a microkernel-based, distributed OS that is completely different from Android and iOS. However, it was later revealed that HarmonyOS 1.0 was based on Android 9 Pie, and supported Android Debug Bridge.

Minoca OS: A new open source operating system

Meet Minoca OS, a new operating system which has recently gone open source. The developers have released the entirety of the Minoca OS source code under the GNU GPLv3, and are looking forward to building a community of users and developers around this new OS.

Developed for little devices that are in need of a full-featured Operating System, Minoca OS is being marketed as a general purpose operating system that has been written completely from scratch. The OS is ideal for devices that want to conserve their storage, memory and power. Its main aim is to be modular, lean, maintainable, and extremely comparable with the current software.

As far as the app side is concerned, they have got a package manager, and an ever-increasing suite of packages like Node, Git, Ruby, Python, and Lua. Minoca is based on a powerful driver model between device drivers and the kernel. The idea here basically is that drivers can also be written in a forward compatible manner, so kernel level components can be upgraded without the need of a recompilation of all device drivers.

Minoca OS has been written by two young developers, Evan and Chris. They were promoted to come up with Minoca when they realised that it has been 25 long years since the world has seen the birth of any major operating system.

The two developers are looking to explore if this 25 years of clean slate could help them in creating something very unique and interesting in the operating systems space. They believe that the freedom to have a fresh look at the kernel-driver interface has the potential to open a number of new, powerful capabilities. The developers are currently looking into areas such as resource isolation, power management, and serviceability that are extremely crucial in today's time but weren't even in the radar two decades ago.

One can check out the source at https://github.com/minoca/os. You can also check out our repository of third party source packages here. If you want to download the latest stable binaries of Minoca OS, head straight to the download page.
