Ambulance Tech Platform, Dial4242, Raises ₹9 Crore in Pre-Series A Round Led by IAN Group and Strategic Partners

Dial4242, India’s leading tech-enabled ambulance service platform, has raised ₹9 crore in a Pre-Series A funding round led by IAN Group, with additional participation from BioAngels, IIM Bangalore’s NSRCEL, and other prominent angel investors.

The funds will be used to strengthen Dial4242’s mission of ensuring ambulance availability across India by reducing its current turnaround time (TAT) from 12 minutes to under 8 minutes. The company will also invest in technology upgrades, marketing, expansion of medical centers in underserved areas, and key leadership hires.

Founded in 2016 by Jeetendra Lalwani, along with co-founders Nilesh Mahambre and Atin Verma, Dial4242 operates the country’s largest on-demand ambulance network, covering 850+ cities. The platform provides real-time ambulance tracking, automated dispatch, and a 24x7 call center—addressing India’s long-standing issues of emergency response time and accessibility.

With its asset-light and tech-first model, Dial4242 has built strategic partnerships with major players such as Amazon, Zomato, and Swiggy, offering medical support to gig workers nationwide. Its average turnaround time of under 12 minutes makes it the fastest in the country.

The loss of my father, my greatest inspiration, was the most painful moment of my life—but it sparked a mission to turn grief into impact. This became a mission to ensure that no life is lost due to the unavailability of an ambulance,” said Jeetendra Lalwani, Co-founder of Dial4242.

Padmaja Ruparel, Co-founder, IAN Group, said, “Dial4242 is truly solving a real problem and surely a need that can arise any time. This team led by Jeetendra has already established the operations on a strong footing with a robust business model with a direct focus on saving lives. Dial4242 brings excellent execution with empathy!

Dial4242 will use the funds to strengthen its tech platform, boost trip volumes through marketing, launch free ambulance services through a low-cost membership, set up medical centers in key areas, and expand its product, business, and operations teams.

Over the next 12 months, the company aims to deepen hospital partnerships, grow its retail user base, and maintain the fastest emergency response standard in India. Dial4242 has been recognized for its innovation and impact in healthcare by ET Now and has received the prestigious Maharashtra Startup Innovation Award.

NSRCEL and Capgemini India have announced their collaboration once again for an incubation program in Social Entrepreneurship. Capgemini will support NSRCEL to launch 9 subsequent cohorts of Social Entrepreneurship Incubation programs for 3 years starting from 2023 till 2025.

The NSRCEL - Capgemini incubation program aims to solve the problem of validating solutions for product-market fit and evolving business models in Social Entrepreneurship that can scale. It aims to do so by identifying, and incubating startups that are innovating with technology and digital inclusion at their forefront.

There will be a cohort intake every 4 months. Each cohort will consist of 15-20 early-stage innovations with some market traction and is open for both for-profits & non-profits across sectors. Through this initiative, NSRCEL’s “Impact Orbit” aims to incubate 120 social enterprises in the next 3 years and lead the convergence across for-profit & non-profit business models in India, while also building a support stack of partners & service providers for startup success.

In the past, Capgemini's financial and network support to NSRCEL and its ventures came at a critical time during the pandemic in 2020. The collaboration over the last 3 years allowed 4 for-profit startups to pivot and 9 non-profit startups to enter the market from an idea stage. Collectively the 13 ventures have impacted 5.45lakh beneficiaries and gone on to raise 8.5cr+ through grants and equity. These ventures have also built a strong framework for scaling through the support received during the incubation program.

It gives NSRCEL-IIMB immense pleasure to have an opportunity to work with Capgemini India CSR again, this time for a larger initiative. We are excited to bring them on board as NSRCEL Impact Orbit’s anchor funding partner to incubate 120 social ventures for the next 3 years and help play a pivotal role in us becoming the largest Social Enterprise incubator in India.”- said Anand Sri Ganesh, COO, NSRCEL

Acumen Academy is the educational arm of Acumen, that provides practical tools and resources to the community of social innovators and builders. Together, they launched their first “Green Growth Accelerator” in July, a 4-month program with NSRCEL serving as the knowledge partner.

While Acumen Academy is delivering core modules, NSRCEL will facilitate workshops, and mentoring engagements and support the delivery of the demo day.

“Innovations in Waste to Value Productions, Waste Management and other business models in the circular economy are difficult to scale. NSRCEL Organises Discussion on 'Budget and Beyond' for Start-ups

In the wake of the recent Budget announcement for 2021 - NSRCEL - the hub of Entrepreneurial Activity at IIMB organized a panel discussion on Budget and Beyond for the startup ecosystem.

NSRCEL brought together ecosystem players like Mohandas Pai - Chairman Aarin Capital and Manipal Global Education, Siddarth Pai - Founding Partner and CFO - 3one4 Capital and Karan Bajaj - Founder and CEO - Whitehat Jr. The session was articulately moderated by Prof. K.Kumar - Dean - Alumni Relations & Development and Professor of Entrepreneurship at IIM Bangalore.

This Panel discussion was based on the implications of the recent budget on the startup ecosystem and the road ahead to facilitate growth in the ecosystem.
Prof. K.Kumar

Prof. Kumar spoke about how the significance of Budget has changed and there is still a lot of work to be done for regulations. He was of the opinion that only if one creates wealth can we distribute wealth.

Mohandas Pai felt that the budget has not made funding easier for startups! Extending the tax Holliday scheme for startups by one year will not have much impact because of onerous conditions, the capital gains exemption too is too restrictive to be of any use! The PLI scheme will finally give wings to Make in India schemes., sadly start-up founders continue to redomicile overseas because of lack of adequate local funding and restrictive RBI policies! India is at risk of becoming a Digital Colony by 2025 because of inadequate policy responses to incentivize local funding! The budget has been a disappointment for startups!

Siddarth Pai says that it is tough to be credited for being innovative. One Person Company is fantastic for sole proprietorships but a significant drawback, is the very fact that it has a single shareholder. Angel Tax, Section - 68 are essentially, attacks on the startup ecosystem. Cost of capital is also at an all-time high. He feels that India might become a land of subsidiaries unless these issues are addressed & domestic capital is unshackled.

Karan Bajaj said that the government has made start-ups accessible to set-up and that is why they are growing across the country. The recent budget continues to be a positive development. The start-up ecosystem needs to be nurtured as they will go a long way in helping to achieve Make in India.

IIM Bangalore - NSRCEL begins the Women Startup Program with an overwhelming response

NSRCEL, the startup and innovation hub at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, has launched the third cohort of the women’s startup program, one of India’s largest startup programs for women. First launched in 2016, with the support of Goldman Sachs, the program continues to catalyze aspiring women entrepreneurs reach their goals.

The program focuses on the Government of India’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Vocal for Local’.

The third cohort of the Women Startup Program received more than 10,000 applications from 34 states and union territories across India. The applications received are from early-stage and idea-stage startups of female founders between the ages of 18-60 years.

The top enrollment states are Delhi NCR, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. The program has also attracted the interest of women entrepreneurs from the North East states and Jammu and Kashmir.

Program structure

The program is conducted through a five-week online training course offered on the Government of India’s online learning platform, Swayam, from August 31.

With the immense potential of the Fintech Sector in jobs creation and economic growth, I-Sec, as part of its CSR initiative, is happy to partner with NSRCEL, one of the oldest incubator cells in the country, to provide mentorship to these startups. We do hope that that this joint initiative will lead to many successful ideas which will provide large employment generation opportunities,” said Mr. Vijay Chandok, MD & CEO, ICICI Securities.

“We had largely remained sector-agnostic in 20 years and this is our first attempt to create impact in a particular domain. Our motivation is simple – focus on an area where there are highly renowned faculty, sufficiently interested students, a large roster of illustrious alumni in that area and finally a thriving Centre of Excellence with deep connections to the industry. Fintech became the natural choice and we are excited to partner with I-Sec to kickstart our maiden program,” said Professor Venkatesh Panchapagesan, Chairperson of NSRCEL at IIM Bangalore.

Startups in ideation to early customer stage will be guided by mentors through need assessment, one-on-one interactions and workshops. The 15-month program is for professionals in Insurance, Trading, Personal Finance, Banking, Wealth Advisory, Lending and Payments and Taxation. These startups can then glide through to the Go-to-Market stage and work on scaling up through guidance, workshops, shared learning, funding, goal-setting through launch of POCs and extensive business growth opportunities. Startups will be getting exclusive access to IIMB resources and industry connections in Fintech. At the end of the program, select startups will also be receiving funding support.
