L&T Construction Secures Order from AIIMS–Madurai Under the PMSSY Division of MoHFW

The Buildings & Factories (B&F) vertical of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured an order from the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Madurai, Tamil Nadu under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare(MOHFW), Government of India, in this month.

According to the company’s classification of projects, the value of the order is between 1,000 to 2,500 crore INR.

To recall, earlier this year MoHFW had also awarded the project of constructing a new AIIMS at Rewari (Haryana) on a Design, Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis.

The scope AIIMS–Madurai work includes construction of a 720-bed hospital, a 150-bed Infectious Diseases Block, a 30 bed AYUSH Block, a 150-seat medical college, a nursing college, a 750-seater auditorium, hostel, and residential facilities. The project is to be executed in 33 months. The total built up area is 2.1 mn Sq. ft.

The scope of work involves civil structure, finishes, MEP services and external development, including landscaping.

Earlier in January this year, the Railway Strategic Business Group of L&T Construction secured contract of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Project, popularly referred to as the Bullet Train Project.

Larsen & Toubro Wins Contract for Dubai's Largest Renewable Generation Plant

The Renewable EPC arm of Larsen & Toubro’s Power Transmission & Distribution business has been chosen as the turnkey Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor to establish a 1800 MWac Solar Photovoltaic Plant in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

According to the company’s classification of projects, the value of the order is between ₹ 10,000 to ₹ 15, 000 crore.

The project is the sixth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This plant will reduce around 2.4 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually.

Spread over 20 sq km, the project will become operational in three phases. In addition to the Photovoltaic plant, the scope includes related evacuation and interconnection arrangements including two Gas Insulated Substations, high voltage underground cabling and medium voltage distribution networks.

Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC – Masdar, the UAE’s clean energy powerhouse, has signed the Power Purchase Agreement with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to develop the project. DEWA will retain a 60% stake in the project and be the sole off-taker of the power generated from the plant.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park is the largest single-site solar park in the world based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. It has a planned production capacity of 5,000 MW by 2030 and when completed, it will save over 6.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually. The Solar Park is a crucial component in both the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and DEWA’s strategic initiative for Net Zero emissions by 2050.

L&T Construction Secures Order from Japanese Agency for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad "Bullet Train" Project's Electrification System Work

The Railway Strategic Business Group of L&T Construction has secured a Mega Contract from an authorised Japanese agency to construct 508 Route Km of High-Speed Electrification System Works (Package No: EW 1) for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Project, popularly referred to as the Bullet Train Project.

According to the company’s classification of projects, the value of the order is between 10,000 to 15,000 crore INR.

The scope of this package includes Design, Manufacture, Supply, Construction, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of 2 x 25 kV Power Supply Electrification System including Traction Substations, High-Speed Overhead Equipment and MV/LV Power Distribution Equipment Works on Design-Build Lump Sum Price basis.

It is a first of its kind railway electrification project for India involving the implementation of Japanese Shinkansen High Speed Electrification Technology with sophisticated equipment including Heavy Compound Catenary System, Change Over Switches, etc.

Upon completion, this electrification system will enable trains to travel at up to 320 KMPH speed.

The project is being funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and is being implemented by an authorised Japanese agency acting for and on behalf of the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL).

L&T is India’s leading player in the Railway Electrification domain, possessing expertise across various types of Electrification Systems i.e., Conventional 1X25 kV system, high rise and low-rise 2X25 kV System for Mainline & Freight Railways, 25 kV AC Rigid & Flexible Overhead Catenary Systems for Metros, 750/1500 V DC Overhead Catenary systems for Metros & LRTs, Special Japanese type Feeder Messenger Systems for DC Overhead Electrification, DC Third Rail Electrification systems, etc.

It has earlier successfully delivered various Electrification Projects for Indian Mainline Railways and Metros.

L&T is currently executing several Civil Viaduct, Station Packages, Track & Depot Packages and Special Steel Bridges Packages for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project.

The Buildings & Factories (B&F) Business of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Construction has secured an order from HITES (A Mini Ratna PSU) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) .

The company's Health, Residential & Commercial spaces Strategic Business Group (HRC SBG) has secured an order to construct a new AIIMS at Rewari (Haryana) on a Design, Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis in Q3 FY’24. The facilities will include a 720-bed Teaching Hospital, a 30-bed AYUSH Hospital, an 100 students’ annual intake Medical College, Nursing College, 500-seat Auditorium, Hostel & Residential facilities to be executed within stringent timelines. The total built up area is 1.5 Mn Sq. ft.

According to the company’s classification of projects, the value of the order is between 1,000 to 2,500 crore INR.

The scope of work involves Civil structure, Finishes & allied MEP services including built in Furniture, Supply, Installation, Testing & commissioning of Medical Gas Piping, Modular OT, Pneumatic Tube System, Nurse Call System, Central Sterile Supply Department & external development works including landscaping.
