Databricks, the Data and AI company, today announced the appointment of Corrie Briscoe as Vice President of Partnerships and Alliances for Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ). Based in Singapore, Corrie will lead and expand Databricks' partner ecosystem across the region, collaborating with cloud providers, global and regional systems integrators, independent software vendors (ISVs) and technology partners to help organizations scale data and AI apps, analytics and agents.

Corrie brings 30 years of experience building and scaling partner ecosystems across Asia Pacific. She joins Databricks from AWS, where she led the APJ Partner Core organization, overseeing partner programs, strategic investments and go-to-market initiatives that drove customer success. Prior to AWS, Corrie held leadership roles at Microsoft and Cisco, leading regional partner strategy and ecosystem development.

The appointment comes as organizations across APJ increase investment to unlock agentic AI. Scaling that investment requires partners who can navigate the region's fragmented data environments, shortage of AI-ready talent, and the governance and controls needed to deploy AI with confidence across diverse industries and regulatory regimes.

Reflecting this shift, Databricks continues to invest in its partner ecosystem with the recent introduction of the Brickbuilder Partner Network (BPN), a global program rewarding partners for turning complex implementations into immediate business impact. Persistent Anchors Databricks‑Powered AI Hackathon to Build Enterprise‑Ready Talent

Persistent Systems (BSE: 533179 and NSE: PERSISTENT), a global Digital Engineering and Enterprise Modernization leader, collaborated on an AI engineering talent initiative with Databricks and the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) to help strengthen the next generation of enterprise-ready AI talent.

Developed in collaboration with the MSOE AI Club, Persistent anchored a Databricks-powered AI Hackathon to scale AI delivery capabilities through deeper collaboration across academia, technology ecosystems and industry practitioners. The program provided students with the opportunity to work with AI professionals, bridging the gap between academic AI learning and real-world implementation.

Using the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform and supported by the Databricks University Alliance, the initiative gave students hands-on exposure to advanced data and AI engineering environments used in modern analytics, Generative AI and operational AI deployments. Persistent’s senior architects and project leads worked directly with participants to bring architectural thinking, governance frameworks and enterprise deployment considerations into the learning experience, helping students better understand how AI systems are built and scaled in business environments.

The collaboration also strengthens Persistent’s engagement with MSOE, a leading institution in applied AI and engineering education. Through its work with the MSOE AI Club, the Company is contributing to an academic ecosystem focused on AI, robotics, data science and next-generation engineering innovation while deepening engagement with emerging talent.

Databricks Agrees to Acquire Neon to Deliver Serverless Postgres for Developers + AI Agents

Databricks, the Data and AI company, today announced its intent to acquire Neon, a leading serverless Postgres company. As the $100-billion-plus database market braces for unprecedented disruption driven by AI, Databricks plans to continue innovating and investing in Neon’s database and developer experience for existing and new Neon customers and partners.

Neon: An Open, Serverless Foundation for Developers and AI Agents

AI agents are becoming increasingly integral components for modern developers, and Neon is purpose-built to support their agentic workflows. Recent internal telemetry showed that over 80 percent of the databases provisioned on Neon were created automatically by AI agents rather than by humans, underscoring how explosively agentic workloads are growing. These workloads differ from human-driven patterns in three important ways:
  • Speed + flexibility: Agents operate at machine speed and traditional database provisioning often becomes a bottleneck — Neon can spin up a fully isolated Postgres instance in 500 milliseconds or less and supports instant branching and forking of not only database schema but also data, so experiments never disturb production.
  • Cost proportionality: Agents demand a cost structure that scales precisely with usage — Neon’s full separation of compute and storage keeps the total cost of ownership for thousands of ephemeral databases proportional to the queries they actually run.
