Reliance Capital backed Awiros' Computer Vision Solution To Be Deployed On One of the Most Advanced Commercial Aircrafts' Engines of US based Pratt & Whitney

Reliance Capital backed Awiros' Computer Vision Solution To Be Deployed On One of the Most Advanced Commercial Aircrafts' Engines of US based Pratt & Whitney

For past few years, Gurugram based Awiros, a Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence (AI) start-up, has been working with Pratt & Whitney, an American aerospace manufacturer, to build an AI powered tool called — Percept, an advanced AI-based Aircraft Engine Analysis Tool, which helps reduce time and effort involved in the pre-and-post lease analysis of aircraft engines.

Today, in a press release announcement, Pratt & Whitney said that it has the launched operational version of Percept, which is essentially a computer vision product that operates on top of the Awiros Video Intelligence Operating System (OS). Its cloud-based interface allows users to capture images and videos of aircraft engines on their mobile devices and receive real-time responses on parts availability. This helps enable faster and cost-efficient turnaround of leased engine assets. Instead of an inspector having to examine an engine and check part-by-part, Percept automates this inspection, and reduces time taken by nearly 90%.

Reliance Capital backed Awiros is supposedly the World's first Video AI OS, allows to leverage the science of Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence to analyze and interpret videos, converting them into actionable data for various use cases. The startup raised seed funding from Reliance Capital back in 2018, which was followed by its largest funding till date of $7 million, in last September, from Inflexor Ventures, Exfinity Venture Partners and VedaVC.

Awiros was selected as the winner of the RTX (Raytheon Technologies) Innovation Challenge. Notably, Pratt & Whitney is a subsidiary of RTX.

The Gurugram based startup was the winner of the RTX Innovation Challenge launched in September 2019, by RTX and Hyderabad based T-Hub, with over 60 Indian and global startups in Computer Vision, AI, and Machine learning (ML) domains. The teams proposed solutions to optimize and automate aircraft engine inspections with reduced human interventions. Awiros' idea was evaluated through 2020-21 and is expected to be launched commercially later this year.

The Percept solution will be deployed exclusively on Pratt & Whitney's most advanced commercial engines, including the Pratt & Whitney GTF™ engine and the V2500.

In a press release statement, Vikram Gupta, founder and CEO, Awiros, said, "Building the Percept tool in collaboration with RTX has been one of the most exciting opportunities in the journey of Awiros as a startup. We are proud that Percept's high-fidelity scanning of Pratt & Whitney engines with handheld mobiles phones, without any specialized hardware, is being commercially deployed in the aerospace industry."

Founded by Vikram Gupta, Yatin Kavishwar in the year 2015, Awiros also partnered with Bengaluru City Police to provide advanced video analytics for high-resolution surveillance cameras for Bengaluru Safe City project. This project is backed by the Indian government’s Nirbhaya Fund.
