CapitaLand Launches Inaugural S$3 Mn Community Resilience Initiative

  • This is the first time a regional grant call for social resilience projects is held as part of the initiative
  • Funding will be provided for projects by non-profit organisations across Singapore, India, China and Vietnam focused on education, health and well-being of vulnerable children and youth

CapitaLand Hope Foundation (CHF), the philanthropic arm of CapitaLand Group, today launched its inaugural S$3 million CapitaLand Community Resilience Initiative that sources for social resilience projects. This is the first time a regional grant call is held for such projects as part of the initiative. The launch, in collaboration with AVPN, is a significant milestone as part of CHF’s 20th anniversary celebration this year. AVPN is the largest network of social investors in Asia, and the grant call was announced at the AVPN Southeast Asia Summit 2025 held in Singapore.

The CapitaLand Community Resilience Initiative aims to equip vulnerable children and youth with the skills, knowledge and support systems needed to thrive in the face of adversity, strengthening their resilience to ensure a stronger, more adaptive and equitable future. CHF has been committed to building caring, inclusive and resilient communities and forging meaningful partnerships to impact the lives of many since 2005. AVPN will contribute their network and expertise in managing philanthropic funds and support in identifying impactful organisations to ensure quality solutions for the vulnerable in Asia.

Non-profit organisations across China, India, Singapore and Vietnam with sustainable projects focused on improving the education, health and well-being of children and youths can submit their applications from now till 25 April 2025. The applications will be assessed based on the social impact and potential outcomes. They should also be scalable and effectively implemented across any of the four countries where CapitaLand operates.

Mr Miguel Ko, Chairman of CHF and Chairman of CapitaLand Investment, said: “In our 20 years of giving since CHF’s inception in 2005, we have been unwavering in our commitment to uplift lives and make a difference. At CapitaLand, we believe that building a resilient community is fundamental to sustainable growth. Through the launch of our inaugural S$3 million CapitaLand Community Resilience Initiative, we aim to empower individuals and families with the resources and support they need to navigate challenges and emerge stronger. The initiative enables us to source for like-minded partners and stakeholders in the region in supporting social capital, social infrastructure, and social inclusion solutions as they embark with us in this giving journey. We look forward to amplifying the positive impact across the communities we operate in together with selected organisations.”

Ms Naina Subberwal Batra, CEO of AVPN, said: "Community resilience is the foundation for long-term stability. CHF’s strong commitment to philanthropy through its community-focused programmes is in line with AVPN’s mission to strengthen the ecosystem and direct capital towards meaningful outcomes in Asia. With our extensive network and expertise in managing philanthropic funds, AVPN is well-positioned to support CapitaLand’s mission by identifying impactful organisations, providing due diligence support, and ensuring the fund's strategic effectiveness. Together, we aim to create lasting, positive change across the region with the CapitaLand Community Resilience Initiative.”

CapitaLand Launches Second S$400 Mn Logistics Private Fund in India

Ascendas-Firstspace Chennai, Oragadam is strategically located in Chennai’s largest and most developed industrial belt.

CapitaLand India Logistics Fund II will grow the Group’s funds under management reinforcing its position as one of the world’s leading real estate fund managers

CapitaLand has launched its second logistics private fund of S$400 million (INR 22.5 billion) to expand in India’s logistics sector, one of the largest globally[1]. CapitaLand India Logistics Fund II will invest in the development of logistics assets in key warehousing and manufacturing hubs in six major cities - Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, National Capital Region (NCR), and Pune, as well as in emerging markets such as Coimbatore, Guwahati, Jaipur, Kolkata and Lucknow.

CapitaLand India Logistics Fund II will grow CapitaLand’s current total Funds Under Management (FUM) of S$79.2 billion across over 20 private funds and six listed trusts, further reinforcing CapitaLand’s position as one of the leading real estate fund managers in the world[2].

Ascendas-Firstspace Chennai, Oragadam is spread over 150 acres catering to clients in the auto, electronics, engineering and logistics sectors.

Mr Jonathan Yap, President, CapitaLand Financial, CapitaLand Group, who oversees CapitaLand’s business in India, said: “The launch of CapitaLand’s second logistics fund in India is in line with the Group’s strategy to expand our fund management business to generate recurring Fee Related Earnings (FRE) and grow the Group’s assets under management (AUM) in a capital efficient way. In 1Q 2021, CapitaLand’s FRE increased by more than 30% year-on-year. Our target is to grow CapitaLand’s FUM to at least S$100 billion by 2024. We will do so by raising new funds across geographies and asset classes, as well as supporting the growth of our existing REITs, business trusts and private funds. We will continue to leverage CapitaLand’s real estate investment and fund management capabilities to grow our funds in our core markets of Singapore, China, India and Vietnam as well as our focus markets such as Australia, USA and Europe where there is strong investor demand."

Mr Aloke Bhuniya, Chief Executive Officer of Ascendas-Firstspace, said:
Ascendas-Firstspace has gone from strength to strength since its launch in 2017. Currently we have six development assets across India and fully committed our first fund. The steady growth demonstrates our investment and asset management capabilities as well as our customer centric focus. The second fund will significantly increase our geographical footprint. With the growing penetration of e-commerce, modernization of supply chain management and increased focus on manufacturing, we are well positioned to tap on the rising demand for high-quality logistics and industrial space in India.
