Adani Group's Terravista Acquires 25 Acres Land from Finolex in Pune to Set Up Data Center

The Adani Group company Terravista Developers has acquired leasehold rights of an over 25-acre land parcel in Pimpri industrial zone in Pune’s Haveli locality for around Rs 471 crore from Finolex Industries. The company plans to develop a large data center on this land parcel.

The Adani Group’s data center business is led by AdaniConneX, a joint venture between Adani Enterprises and US-based global hyperscale data center provider EdgeConneX. This alliance aims to develop 1 GW of data center capacity over the next decade.

The Adani Group aims to build nine data centers with a total capacity of 1 gigawatt by 2030. These centers will cater to India's growing digital services demand, attracting global firms like Amazon and Google.

The Adani Group's focus on data centers aligns with India's growing digital services demand. The acquisition of this land parcel in Pune is a significant step toward achieving their ambitious goals in the data center industry.

Late last month, it was reported that Google doing advanced negotiations to acquire a 22.5-acre land parcel in Juinagar, Navi Mumbai, for its first captive data center in India.

AdaniConneX has data centers planned in key Indian cities, including Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Noida, Pune, and Vizag. Their Chennai facility, for instance, offers 33 MW IT load and robust connectivity.

Data centers in India are emerging as the most attractive growth opportunity for global institutional investors and leading developers, with over a total $13.5 billion investment planned and committed for development of data centers in the country. The rising preference for India among global data center majors can be attributed to the data localization norms and the government’s proposed new data center policy aimed at simplifying the rules.
