Homegrown e-commerce giant Flipkart has just got bigger, with the opening of its swanky and state-of-the-art office in Bengaluru. Consolidating its various offices, spread in different parts of Bengaluru, Flipkart has opened its massive office at Embassy Tech Village in the Karnataka capital.

Giving a sneak peak of its new abode, Flipkart shared a video on its Facebook page, giving a tour of its new world-class office. From a volleyball court to a basketball court to a virtual golf course to swanky desks and meeting rooms, the office has everything that might invite the envy of professionals going to other offices.

Flipkart decided to consolidate its multiple offices across Bangalore at one location in 2015. The idea was to bring together all of its various offices across the city into one large campus to be able to achieve better collaboration, synergy and operational efficiency.

The new office is spread over an area of 8.3 lakh square feet. There are three buildings, which are interconnected with the help of bridges. Each building has 30 floors. The new office address can house 7,387 employees.

The new campus has all basic amenities including a gymnasium, daycare and food courts. It also has indoor recreation rooms with VR games and a golf simulator. It also has an outdoor recreation space on the terrace – multi-game playing surface for futsal, basketball and cricket. Human foosball, Mini-Golf, Climbing Wall and Bocce Ball are also available for recreation.

Additionally, the new Flipkart campus has quiet zones, which are enclosed spaces in each building to allow for quiet and focused working. Each employee is also given desk plants and a laundromat counter for laundry requirements.

Moreover, the campus also claims to have waste management in place by doing away with individual dustbins and having waste segregation at source. It also has minimal plastic and has plans to instal dishwashers for reusable crockery and cutlery along with steel water bottles for all employees.

From a planning perspective, the Flipkart campus is designed on the lines of a typical European town concept. This manifests itself in the form of 12 unique looking buildings with variable volumes and a variety of façades. The central street creates the “High Street” impression with food courts on both sides and piazzas at either ends.

To recall, the now troubled e-commcerce firm Snapdeal had too opened its swanky new 450,000 Sq. Ft. campus in Gurgaon, in November 2015.
