Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) along with Kerala IT have joined hands with the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) to set up the Mobile 10X Incubation Centre in Cyberpark, Kozhikode.

Spread in an area of 12,500 sq ft at the Cyberpark Centre building, Mobile 10X Incubator will have incubation program to support app developers and app entrepreneurs to improve the quality of their apps.

Google India Managing Director and Vice-President(South East Asia), Rajan Anandan will inaugurate the Incubation Centre on February 7.

An MoU will also be signed in this regard on the day by CEO of Kerala IT Parks, Hrishikesh Nair and CEO of IAMAI Startup Foundation (Mobile 10X), Jitender Singh Minhas at the venue.

Besides being set up in Kerala, Mobile 10X has set up start-up hubs in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Gurgaon.

The above development was first reported in India Today.

Researches indicates that number of internet users would increase to 700 million by 2020.. Once the App Development Center is fully operational, Cyberpark will become a hub for mobile app development in Kerala," Hrishikesh Nair said in the release.

"This initiative by the State government will enable creation of an IT eco-system in the Cyberpark in Kozhikode, attracting larger number of domestic and multi-national companies and lead to direct employment opportunities," he added.

Notably, in August 2017, in order to promote mobile app entrepreneurs and startups in the state, Kerala state government dictated that the government has officially sanctioned direct purchase of mobile applications from startups who have found a mention in the list cleared by KSUM up to a cost of Rs 5 Lakhs.

Earlier in December, KSUM has also launched a 2-year structured incubation programme for startups stitching together various government schemes available for them.

Prior to that, India’s first United Nations Technology Innovation Lab for startups was set up in Kerala too, in May 2017.

To recall, in July 2016, Kerala's Startup has launched a digital incubator for students startups – Start In College, making it the first of its kind in the entire world.
