Elon Musk famed Tesla Electric cars are long awaited in India and though its not expected to be officially launched anytime before 2019 someone in India had decided to privately import the Tesla X model to India. And, this marks the entry of India's first Tesla vehicle.
The Tesla X model brought all the way from US to India at Mumbai port where the buyer ( he or she) flaunted the purchase with a banner announcing its arrival at the port in Mumbai itself. On the banner its written - "1st Tesla Vehicle in India".
Who has had purchased it is still unknown but its obvious to figure out his or her count among riches.
The Tesla Model X is produced at the automaker's facility in Freemont, US and the one that is imported to India is all-electric right-hand drive, seven seater SUV that can run 565 Km with a single charge.
In 2016, it was speculated that Tesla would launch its cars in India soon and even setup a manufacturing plant in India. Government of India did a lot to persuade Elon Musk but he remain unmoved with India's offers. In May 2017, he then finally revealed and announced (via Twitter) as why Tesla is not launching in India.
Coming back to the Tesla that is imported to India; Prices for the Tesla Model X start at $73,800, going up to $128,300 (around Rs. 48 lakh to Rs. 83 lakh) depending on the variant. The model arrived in India is a CBU and is expected to be priced well over Rs. 1 crore after taxes. We do hope to see the Model X on Indian streets soon.
