India’s largest wholesale marketplace Wydr.in today announced the launch of “WydrChat”, a new app feature that allows buyers to chat and negotiate with the sellers to close deals instantly. It gives the users the feel and experience of a real wholesale market, without the troubles of visiting the market. This new feature is expected to attract a bigger number of retailers on the platform.
Devesh Rai, Founder & CEO, Wydr.in, commented, “This is another step in trying to make the experience of online wholesale buying as easy as possible without taking away the merits of an offline wholesale market. The idea of online B2B e-commerce is fairly new and it makes it even more important for us to keep innovating everyday.”
He added, “Our vision is to make wholesale buying easier, transparent and efficient for both retailers and manufacturers and thus, their feedback is extremely important for us. Most of the innovations that we come up with are a result of trying to solve real problems of our buyers and sellers.”
Wydr.in app has over half a million retailers on the platform and aims to onboard one million users by 2018. WydrChat will enable direct real-time communication between retailers and wholesalers and will help retailers negotiate with the buyer and lock the deal instantly at a fixed price.
Rutul Das, a fashion retailer who has been using the Wydr app since 6 months now, commented, “We buy products in bulk and require variations in a few products to match our customers’ needs. The chat feature will be extremely helpful to discuss product details and variations with the manufacturers. An option to bargain is a benefit you get only in real markets. So, I’m happy that along with travel time and cost that I was saving, I will also be able to talk to sellers for negotiations before making a purchase.”
Devesh added, “The plan is to connect Indian wholesale buyers and sellers across the country. In the last one-year, we have been able to solve several key problems of the retailers. They no longer have to worry about logistics, price competitiveness, variety and traveling to multiple cities to procure products. The retailers do understand the edge they are getting and are showing immense trust in the ease of trade that Wydr has introduced.”
Wydr.in is India’s largest wholesale marketplace covering a range of categories, including fashion, home décor, computers and electronic accessories. It enables direct trade between manufacturers/wholesalers and retail store owners. Wydr.in has over 5,000 manufacturers and distributors on its platform and services over 500,000 retailers in over 16,000 pincodes across 29 states. The company was founded in March 2016 by Devesh Rai, a founding team member and former VP for Shopclues, India’s first and largest online marketplace. It raised Series A funding in November 2016, and a round of seed funding in February 2016, from Jungle Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners and Stellaris Venture Partners.
