Elanic, India’s largest pre-owned buying-selling community, has announced that it has joined hands with SecondCry, a parent-only marketplace for children’s pre-owned products. The acqui-hire is aimed at expanding product offerings to existing consumers while opening up new market opportunities. It strengthens Elanic’s position as India’s largest pre-owned marketplace in fashion and other lifestyle categories.

“Elanic and SecondCry share the vision of promoting collaborative consumption,” said Anjali Goyal, SecondCry’s CEO and Co-Founder. “Like Elanic, SecondCry has tried to build a community where buying and selling pre-owned goods is easy, and in fact more fun than hoarding. This move is a non-zero-sum game not only because we have a huge overlap, but also this a sweet extension of our target demographic - young women and moms! While Elanic provides a mature and interactive platform, SecondCry will live on there as their 'Babies & Kids' category.”

SecondCry comes with a community of 25,000 parents and a robust catalogue of infants’ and children’s pre-owned products. This move also adds top talent to the Elanic team - Anjali Goyal will join Elanic as Category Head.

According to Abhilash Narahari, Co-Founder, Elanic, “Anjali has done an excellent job at SecondCry, in getting together a community of moms to actively buy and sell pre-owned goods. She will be a great value-add to our team as we strive to create a platform for seamless C2C transactions across categories.”

“We’ve solved some of the toughest problems which classifieds have struggled with for almost a decade. We’ve moved transactions online and have made the experience seamless for both the buyer and seller. Adding newer categories such as ‘Babies & Kids’ is the logical next step for us,” said Palkush Rai Chawla, Co-Founder, Elanic.

Elanic, founded in 2015 by co-founders Abhilash Narahari, Palkush Rai Chawla and Aditi Rohan, is a social, peer-to-peer marketplace for pre-owned items in India, with a million-strong community of buyers and sellers. Using the Elanic Android or iOS app, users upload photos of items they wish to sell, post them on the app, and the company takes care of the rest - pick-up, packaging, delivery and payment. A lot of celebrities have also found value in what Elanic has to offer and have started using it to resell their pre-loved things - some find it a great way to get in touch with their fans.

SecondCry is India's first parent-only marketplace for reselling children’s pre-owned products. Started as a Facebook group in 2015 by co-founders Anjali Goyal and Ankur Jain, the SecondCry community grew steadily, and the couple decided to launch a full-fledged website in 2016. The site has an active community of parents who buy and sell children’s pre-owned things.
