Jaipur-based startup KhanaGadi, a mobile application-based food delivery aggregator for railway passengers, has raised an undisclosed amount from Hyderabad-based 50K Ventures. The startup aims to utilise the raised funding to double its station network, recruit teams at different locations and market the product. KhanaGadi is aiming to serve 1,000 customers a day in 300 stations by next year.

Owned by GBS Travel and FoodTech Pvt. Ltd., KhanaGaDi.com offers food delivery solutions across India for Train Passengers looking for Quality and Hygienic food during their train journey, right at their seat using robust operating procedures and technology framework working at Six Sigma. It offers wide variety and assortment of Pre-portioned Meals and Ala-Carte menu to its consumers at around 105 Stations and in 6000+ Trains. The main frame of KhanaGaDi’s Operations is entirely focused upon the Delivery & Logistics procedures where it uses a Six Sigma certified process to achieve 99% delivery strike rate right at passenger’s seat in mobile Trains.

50K Ventures' managing partner Sanjay Enishetty said, "KhanaGadi has hand-picked the particular space where travellers truly undergo a great deal of struggle to find decent food. With KhanaGadi solving such a major issue that most of the Indians face, it will be a major game changer in the railway meal delivery space."

Founded in June 2015 by Amit Deep Kumar, Sunil Kumar Awasthi and Rakesh Gupta, the company also plans to diversify its offerings. The firm will be targeting niche segments such as diabetic or cardiac travellers who currently do not have many options in meals while travelling by train.

Going forward, the startup is aiming to serve 1,000 customers a day in 300 stations by next year.

KhanaGadi’s menu and packaging has been designed keeping the environment of train in mind. If a train is running late, the app reschedules food delivery accordingly. The startup competes with New Delhi-based TravelKhana (Duronto Technologies Pvt Ltd), Patna-based RailRestro (Yescom India Softech Pvt Ltd), YatraChef and TravelerFood among others.
