Chennai-based an online marketplace for merchandise printing, Inkmonk is close to raising an undisclosed amount in its pre-Series A round of funding. The round will be led by Dubai-based existing investor Vamm Ventures. The deal is expected to close by end of this month.

“We have received a commitment from couple of Japanese firms along with our existing investors for 60 per cent of the total funding,” said Isaac John Wasley, co-founder of the company.

Inkmonk was founded in March 2014 by Isaac John Wesley and Surya Shankar. The startup provides a one-stop shop for printed products from branded merchandise like t-shirts and caps to marketing promotional products like flyers, posters etc.

In August 2015, the company received $250,000 angel funding through Letsventure, an equity crowd funding platform. The round was led by Girish Mathrubootham, founder of Freshdesk.

“We still have some amount left from our angel funding and plan to utilise the fresh funding for hiring more people for marketing and sales, adding more sellers and products on the platform,” Wasley further said.

Owned and operated by Imprimatur Printing Services Pvt Ltd, Inkmonk claims to have sold close to 3 lakh products in the last 10 months. Its customer portfolio includes Google, Uber, Brigade Group, Westin Hotels, BookMyShow and others. Some other players which also operating in the printing segment include Printvenue, PrintLand, Printbindaas, Printo and Printbazaar.
