Operated by Happy Gaana Entertainment Pvt Ltd, the site brings performance artists and consumers under one roof.

Happydemic which literally translates to “An epidemic of happiness, was conceptualized in 2015, by Radhika Mukherji and Amar Pandit. What started with a thought of encouraging live entertainment and making people appreciate the beauty of a live performance over recorded music, turned into giving a platform of employment to talented artists across the country. The founders have developed the platform and have already created a bank of 120 plus artists, each one checked and verified. The website will be officially launched on the 17th April.

The initiative will help talent globally to be discovered and more importantly create happy experiences for customers (by booking the talent). They will bridge the gap between a customer and an artist. The mission is to help a customer or family find their perfect Artist or Act (discover) and book (deploy) the Artist/Act in an easy and systematic way.

As an artists, one needs to register and fill in the details on the website as well as one can share also pictures and videos of past performances. Within 24 hours of registering, the profile will be updated on the website after getting verified by the team at the backend. Whereas, verified customers (individuals/corporates) can post their requirements and artists gets access to these projects for which they have to reply within 48 hours. The startup, claims to credit fees within 3 days of the performance.

Users have to pay an average fee of Rs 25,000 for booking an artist for a gig through the platform. The company earns revenues by charging a 10-20 per cent commission.

Happydemic has so far raised over $830K in seed funding from friends and family. It will use the money to get more artists on the platform besides inking corporate deals for various events.

Gigstart also offer similar services but they are not limited to just performance artists and hyperlocal services startups like Urbanclap also provides platform for hiring performance artists. Now it will be exciting to see how Happydemic will emerge out as a leader in the space.
