Indian Women aren't there just to play the wait and watch game anymore, they have now entered the Indian tech scene with full force and there isn't anything stopping them. Holding testimonial to this fact is the announcement of a unique tech park being set up in Karnataka by the women, for the women.

Located in Kanakapura, Karnataka, the 300 acre tech park is around 40 km from the city of Bengaluru. The USP about this project lies with the fact that the team constructing this tech park is an all-women team. From architects to contractors, each and every person on the project is a woman.

The Modi government has already given an in-principle green signal to the project and have recognised it as a cluster for women with grants for common infrastructure. The project has been organised conceived by the Karnataka government seeing the increasing interest of women in technology and entrepreneurship but no exclusive platform catering to their this interest available to them in the State.

According to Ratna Prabha, Additional Chief Secretary, Commerce and Industries Department, the department has already received a lot of applications from women entrepreneurs enquiring and showing their interest in the project. She further divulged that the ventures in the tech park from food processing, IT, electronics, telecom and others. Further, the project is going to start with a planned investment of around Rs 135 crore. Once functional, the tech park could provide employment to nearly 3,000 women.

The first phase of the tech park development will cover 100 acres and the rest of the development will take place in a phased manner by November this year.

The tech park would have facilities such as conference halls, restaurants and even grocery shops. Interested women applicants will be eligible for a pre-approved priority loan from the Karnataka State Financial Corporation and banks.

The Karnataka government has future plans of establishing similar women specific tech parks in Mysuru, Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi and Ballari areas.

IndianWeb2 believes that by involving women from the very start in the project, this by the women, for the women tech park can act as a role model for other states of the country to tread the same path as the Karnataka government and give a boost to women entrepreneurship.
