The sports-tracker for learning has raised in total $4.5 million in stealth mode. Helsinki-based education technology startup which is developing a personal learning platform, Claned has raised in stealth mode $4.5 million with the latest seed investment of $1.5 million closed in February. The investors of Claned include business angels and family funds from Finland, India and Singapore.
“We have seen strong interest in the product since we started selling Claned in September 2015 and feedback from the customers is very encouraging. The funding will help us expand sales operations as well as boost product development and introduce new features and products on continuous basis," says Mervi Palander, the CEO of Claned. The company has expanded already to 10 countries, and their goal is to re-define learning in a global scale.
The sports-tracker of learning, Claned, is a personal learning environment powered by artificial and pedagogic intelligence. The platform’s algorithms process all the events and data resulting in a comprehensive insight analysis that shows student’s study performance as well as learning orientation and characteristics including motivation, emotion and stress levels.
“We have a globally unique learning product, that helps an individual to discover a personal way of learning and maximize results – and we foresee strong demand for it over the coming years," says Palander and emphasizes that the vast majority of education providers from schools to universities, corporations and online course providers still offer one standardized way to learn although everybody know that individuals learn differently.
The company has shown an increase of over 400% in collaborative learning amongst students, which boosts learner engagement, study satisfaction and learning results.
It was founded in 2013 by seasoned entrepreneurs Vesa Perälä, Micke Paqvalén and Antti Pasila. The founders have 6 exits under their belt and have raised over $170 million in venture capital. The CEO Mervi Palander has over 20 years of experience in the field of education technology.
Claned has partnered up with international organizations such as Telefonica, Microsoft, Lenovo, Santander and TeliaSonera to scale up their B2B and B2C operations.
The subscription-based learning environment is available at the moment for desktop, and Claned application will be launched in late spring 2016.
