The Startup Action plan of the government is stressing a lot on the advancement of science and technology in our country. This is shown by the initiative of the government to set up 7 new research parks in the country. These parks will be based on the existing research park at IIT Madras.

If everything goes well then this will be a huge boost to the research sector of India, which really needed an initiative of this sort and support from the government.  Research parks do not actually promote new research, rather they work on the opposite principle. The research parks are put in place to work on the ideas provided by the industry. These parks provide technical assistance and help to improve the idea and technology and make it into a product.  This is one place where industry and academia intersect in a symbiotic manner.

Besides the research parks, the government has also planned to set up 18 TBIs at various government institutes including the IITs, NITs and the IIMs as well. IISER Thiruvananthapuram has also made it to this list. TBI stands for Technology Business Incubator which is a facility for startups. It provides them office space as well as technical services and help their business to grow and expand. This is a great step towards promoting entrepreneurship in our country.

This plan will very complement the Atal Innovation Mission which has been set up under NITI. The Atal Innovation Plan will inculcate all that is related to research, technological advancements and entrepreneurship in our country. It is being set up in lieu of paying heed to the fact that a mission like this is essential to our country's economy and it is not just an extra facility that the government is giving us, rather it is the need of the hour.
