IoT Is Next Big Thing Among Indian Startups

Enterprises across the globe are acknowledging that IoT is the next big strategic technology on their priority list. There are no second thoughts about the prospect that 2015 will observe the rise of an excessive Internet of Things (IoT) based services and products rose by the needs of business structures across various sectors. Typically, IoT is expected to offer advanced connectivity of devices, systems, and services that goes beyond machine-to-machine communications (M2M) and covers a variety of protocols, domains, and applications. The interconnection of these embedded devices (including smart objects), is expected to usher in automation in nearly all fields, while also enabling advanced applications like a Smart Grid.

One of the major IoT events this year is the M2M world congress 2015 in London on April 28th & 29th. This event is expected to bring insight into some tremendously significant topics like ‘Hidden M2M Opportunities in Emerging Markets’, ‘Innovating IoT Solutions with M2M Technologies’, ‘Taking Automotive Industry to The Next Level with M2M Technology’ etc., with distinguished speakers being from ‘Ericsson’, ‘Cisco’, ‘Deutsche Telekom’ and other corporate giants.

The most noteworthy area to tap-in for IoT will be that of its application in smart homes, automobiles and wearable technology. Apart from established tech solution providers like Intel, Sapient, IBM and others, Indian start-ups are also taking a leap into this segment.

A Pune based Indian start-up CarIQ has come with IoT solutions, enabling smarter and connected cars. CarIQ device is simple plug ‘n’ play. CarIQ connects your car to you, and the Internet, by enabling remote access to the location, detailed stats and providing vehicle data and diagnostic information by using inbuilt GSM technology.
80 per cent of the firms surveyed during the research report of Forrester Consulting believe that IoT solutions will be the most intentional technology enterprises for their organisation in a decade. These organizations look to IoT as upgraded customer experience by aiding things such as supply chain optimisation and cost efficiencies.

Another start-up called Entrib ShopWorx has IoT offering enabling shop floors of manufacturing companies to become smarter by delivering access to most reliable view of the plants & status of delivery targets and accurate pareto charts for more effective analysis.

Technologies for building such coupled devices are budding and several retailers have already originated out with such smart connected products and services. "IoT is ready to go... It's not science fiction anymore - it is science fact," Samsung Electronics CEO B K Yoon said while delivering the keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show 2015 in Vegas. Yoon also envisages that in the next five years, the company would be able to form IOT technology through which devices can act on senses instead of being manually directed.
