Amazon Expands Future Engineer Scholarships in India, Empowering 2,000 Women in Tech Careers
  • Amazon to provide ₹2 lakh in financial assistance over four years to female engineering students from low-income backgrounds
  • Amazon has invested ~₹50 crore (approx. USD 6 million) in the program since 2022; broader computer science education initiatives have reached 4.8 million students in over 50,000 government schools
  • First graduating cohort in 2025 achieves 89% placement rate across Amazon and other leading companies
Amazon, on Wednesday, announced 500 new scholarships for 2026 under its Amazon Future Engineer (AFE) program in India, providing female engineering students from low-income families with financial support, mentorship, and career opportunities in technology. Amazon Future Engineer (AFE) is Amazon's global computer science education program designed to increase access to technology education and career opportunities. With this expansion, the program currently supports 2,000 active scholars.

The AFE scholarship provides ₹2 lakh in financial assistance over four years to female students pursuing B.E. or B.Tech degrees in computer science or allied branches, from low-income backgrounds. Beyond financial support, scholars receive a laptop, technical training through bootcamps, webinars from Amazon Women of the World (WoW), one-on-one mentorship from Amazon engineers, and paid eight-week internship opportunities at Amazon after their second year.

Every student deserves the opportunity to discover their potential. With the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarships, we're investing in the leaders who will shape the future of work—the talented, determined students in communities across India” said Candi Castleberry, Vice President of Amazon eXperiences and Upskilling. The 2026 scholarship recipients demonstrate what's possible when we create upskilling pathways together and remove the barriers standing between young people and their dreams."

Announced on the sidelines of the inaugural Together India Summit, the expansion reflects Amazon’s continued focus on creating pathways to learn and build careers in technology so we are future ready. As part of the internal summit, Together at Amazon is an initiative focused on helping employees grow, thrive, and connect through access to skills development, workplace support, and community engagement. As part pf this framework, In This Together is an initiative helping students, customers, communities, partners, and business owners discover pathways to Amazon.

First cohort graduates with 89% placement rate

Launched with 200 scholars in 2022, the program has expanded significantly year on year, increasing to 500 annual scholarships from 2023 onwards. Scholars are selected through a rigorous process evaluating academic merit, financial need, and leadership potential. The program's first graduating cohort in 2025 has achieved an 89% placement rate, with graduates securing roles at Fortune 500 companies including Amazon. To date, about 400 scholars have completed internships across various technical roles at Amazon, with hundreds of others set to take up internships in the coming months as newer cohorts become eligible.

Many scholars are first-generation college graduates from tier-2 and tier-3 cities, reflecting the program’s reach across underserved regions in India. Graduates such as Sreya Mula from Telangana, now a Software Development Engineer, Keerthi Sankara from Andhra Pradesh, a Cloud Support Associate, and Anjali Ashtake from Nagpur, Maharashtra, now a Graduate Analyst at Deutsche Bank, are among those who have gone on to build careers in technology, demonstrating the program’s impact in enabling access to long-term opportunities.

Reaching 4.8 million students in government schools

Amazon has invested ~₹50 crore (approximately USD 6 million) in the AFE program since 2022, building a structured pathway from scholarship to career for young girls in technology. The scholarship program is implemented in partnership with the Foundation for Excellence, while NavGurukul delivers technical training to help scholars build industry-relevant skills and prepare for internships.

Beyond engineering scholarships, the program has reached 4.8 million students across more than 50,000 government schools in India between 2021 and 2025, providing computer science and AI education.

Edtech Company LawSikho Has Announced 100% Scholarships for 500 Persons With Disabilities (PWD)

Gurugram-based legal edtech company LawSikho has announced 100 percent scholarships for 500 persons with disabilities (PWD). The candidates who complete the courses successfully will be co-certified by National Skill Development Corporation(NSDC).

Law graduates and law students will take an online admission test to  decide who is eligible for the scholarships, which will cover LawSikho’s test prep courses for government jobs, upskilling courses focused on jobs in the private sector, and remote freelance work courses focused to international markets like US, UK and Canada.

To qualify for the admission test, candidates must produce a government-issued disability card or certificate of disability. Out of 500 seats, 300 will be reserved for law graduates and law students, while 200 will be open to non-law candidates interested in remote freelance work. The admission test will be held in October, but candidates can appear for an online on-demand admission test even later. The goal is to roll out all 500 scholarships before December 2022.

“A small scale pilot project has already been tested and over a hundred candidates have benefited from it so far. This expansion will benefit from the learnings of the existing programme. Also, when we benefit from feedback from learners from different backgrounds, we are able to make our services more inclusive” said Ramanuj Mukherjee, CEO at LawSikho.

Masoom Reza, 24, an LLB from Jamia Millia Islamia who is currently enrolled at NLSIU Bengaluru as an LLM student, is among the many outstanding students who have already been part of LawSikho’s scholarship programme for PWD. Completely visually impaired since the age of seven, Masoom took our Judiciary Test Prep course in 2021 as part of his preparation for the Judiciary Services Competitive Examination and applied for a full scholarship, which he received.

Speaking about his LawSikho experience in general, Masoom, who stood third in the Indian Law Institute CAT for LLM, says the method of teaching is “amazing”, and adds that he has particularly benefited from Lawsikho’s practice sessions and the faculty’s approach of interlinking various laws for better understanding.

“Many job seekers with disabilities find remote work much more suitable and convenient, but very few programmes exist for them. Given LawSikho’s success in helping Indian graduates secure remote work opportunities across the world, we felt that it would be a great time to formally announce scholarships for candidates who are also Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan). We have given free admission to over a hundred candidates already, and based on this initial success, we decided to expand the programme,” said Vibhas Sen, Head of Marketing, LawSikho, an IIM-C alumni and Paralympian himself, who was affected by polio in both legs.

Around 700 job seekers receive internships, jobs and freelance work while pursuing or after completing their courses from LawSikho every month. Candidates interested in the scholarship programme may write to support@lawsikho.in attaching their Statement of Purpose and resume, along with a government-issued proof of disability.

Nexford University launches $200K Funding Opportunity for Entrepreneurs across the World

The world needs more entrepreneurs. But millions of people struggle to get the education and skills they need. Nexford University plans to change that.

Today the university has announced its 'Entrepreneurship Scholarship' and $200,000 startup funding, with a mission to empower next-generation leaders across the world.

"The world needs more doers," said Fadl Al Tarzi, Nexford's CEO. "We thought about what we can do to help them. If you're a doer, you won't let anything stop you, be it your physical location, lack of experience or even lack of funding. Having said that, we want everyone to succeed – we want to empower people with the tools they need to increase their chances of success.

"Through this initiative, we're providing entrepreneurs with the skills they need to move forward in life, and we're not stopping there. While we believe skills are the most valuable currency, you can't buy ads or hire people with skills alone. So we're taking it one step further and funding the most promising startup ideas we'll receive."

Entrepreneurs play a key role in the economy. The US Small Business Administration reported that small business added 1.9 million net new jobs in 2018. The 30.2 million small businesses in the US employ 47.5 percent of the state's private workforce. Forbes found that the global startup economy also generated $2.8 trillion in economic value since 2017.

With this opportunity, entrepreneurs can launch their business idea, get ahead in their career, improve their prospects and influence those around them.

100 scholarships, $200k startup funding opportunity

There will be 100 BBA or MBA scholarships announced as part of Nexford's push to support more entrepreneurs. Scholarship recipients will practice real-world business concepts that act as a bridge to entrepreneurship. Specializations learners can choose from include Building a Tech Startup, 360° Marketing, Enabling E-Commerce, and Doing Business Across the World.

Scholarship graduates will have the chance to pitch their startup idea. Every year, Nexford will fund five scholarship graduates at $10,000 each.

Nexford offers 100% online, globally affordable education through a next-generation learning experience. While many universities offer education that is heavily theoretical, Nexford believes in a different approach – education is important not only for startup success but as a foundation on which learners will build on for years to come. Along with applicable skills, learning how to learn is essential regardless of one's career path.

Rebecca Ebokpo, MBA 2019, said: “I’m going to use my MBA to support managing my own law practice and advise clients on business-related issues. I’m happy to be part of the movement to the next generation of education. And I encourage others to come join the movement."

Nexford Entrepreneurship Scholarship applications are open until September 15.

West Bengal girl Bags NASA's top scholarship

Satarparna Mukherjee, an 18 yrs old girl from West Bengal, hailing from a village 30 km from Kolkata, has been selected by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for its prestigious Goddard Internship Programme (GIP), reports The Times Of India.

She is among 5 scholars chosen from across the world for this programme.
Nasa's GIP selects five exceptional individuals from across the world every year and funds their entire education after school.

girlSataparna, who will appear for her school-leaving exams this year from St Judes School, Madhyamgram, in Kamduni  will be at Oxford University, where she she will pursue graduation, post-graduation and PhD (as Nasa faculty) in aerospace engineering at its London Astrobiology Centre.
Sataparna says "It all started in May last year when I was a member of a group on a social networking site where there were many members, including some scientists. One day I shared some of my thoughts on 'Black Hole Theory', and one of the members of this group gave me Nasa's official website and told me to post my findings, which I did."

Sataparna's paper on Black Hole Theory, and how this could be used to create a 'Time Machine', was hugely appreciated. "I am very happy to get this opportunity where I will also work as a researcher at the Nasa centre in London," she said.

Under the Goddard Internship Programme, Sataparna will work as an "employee and researcher", where she will be part of its earth science and technology development programme. NASA is paying her a generous sum as honorarium, apart from bearing all her expenses.

Pulak Chakraborty, a professor of English at the Nabagram Hiralapal College, who's acting as Sataparna's referee at Oxford, said, "She is a very good student and her ability should not be judged through her marks alone. She is original, and that has made her attain so much."
"She is going on August 17," "Though every cost is borne by the university and Nasa, we will arrange for the passage money, which is quite high. I am thinking of taking a loan because I don't want to let this opportunity go," Her father said.
