SoftBank Likely to Invest $1.9B in Paytm at $9B Valuation

Masayoshi Son’s media and Internet conglomerate SoftBank Group is likely to put in $1.9 billion (Rs 12,000 crore) into One 97 Communications Ltd, which runs digital wallet firm Paytm. The funding is likely to value Paytm at $9 billion and SoftBank will pick up 20% stake in the payments firm, citing two individuals familiar with the transaction.

Oyo Rooms Raises $250M from SoftBank, Others

Branded budget hotels marketplace OYO, which is operated by Oravel Stays Pvt. Ltd, is closing a $250-million (Rs 1,612 crore) fundraising round led by existing investor SoftBank Group, said a media report. The recently-launched $100-billion SoftBank Vision Fund is expected to pump in $225 million in OYO, while the rest will come from Lightspeed Venture Partners India pvt Ltd, Sequoia Capital India Advisors Pvt. Ltd and Greenoaks Capital Partners LLC.

UiPath Raises $30M Series A Funding Led by Accel

South Asia’s Largest Collaborative Coworking Space Network Raises $20 Mn from Sequoia India

Awfis Space Solutions Pvt. Ltd., South Asia’s largest network of collaborative co-working spaces, has received an investment of USD 20 million from Sequoia India. The funds will be used to grow its network of centers, launch new and innovative products/services and further enhance the existing technology platform.

Working towards achieving its target of having an Awfis centre within a 10 minutes driving radius in each of the key metros, the company plans to establish 100+ centres with 35,000+ seats across Mumbai, NCR, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Pune in the next 24 months. Food Delivery Startup Faasos Raises $6.4M From Lightbox Ventures, Sequoia, Others

Pune-based online food delivery startup Faasos has filled its plate with $6.4 Mn funding in an extended Series C round of funding, as per the filings made with the Registrar of Companies. The investment is led by Lightbox Ventures II, Lightbox Expansion Fund, Sequoia Capital India, RuNet South Asia, and RB Investments. Earlier in December 2015, Faasos raised the first tranche of the Series C, amounting to $30 Mn. So far, the company has raised a total of $64.6 Mn in six rounds of funding.

Startup Advisory Platform Oddup Gets $6M Funding From Brand Capital

Hong Kong-based startup focussed research platform Oddup has secured $6 Mn in its Series A round of funding led by Brand Capital, the investment arm of Indian media conglomerate The Times Group. The round also saw participation from existing investors including 500 Startups and Click Ventures and new investors including Moneta Ventures and White Capital. This round brings Oddup’s total funding raised to $7 Mn, till date. With the freshly infused funds, the startup aims to expand into India and complete its expansion throughout Asia.

Mobile Gaming Startup Mech Mocha Raises $5M in Series A Round

Bengaluru-based mobile gaming startup Mech Mocha has raised $5 Mn in Series A round of funding led by Accel Partners and Shunwei Capital. Existing investor Blume Ventures also participated in this funding round. Mech Mocha will deploy the funds to develop and launch new mobile-gaming titles across casual and mid-core gaming categories, targeted at the Indian audience.

Hyperlocal Delivery Startup Scootsy Raises Pre-Series A Funding of $3.6M

After completing a year and a half of successful business operations in Mumbai, Scootsy has raised funding of $3.6 million in a pre-series A round led by Agnus Capital and Khattar Holdings. AntFarm, Scootsy’s incubator, has also participated in this investment round.

Delhi-based online media network for women, POPxo has closed $3.1 Mn Series B round of funding led by existing investors Kalaari Capital and IDG Ventures India Japan’s GREE Ventures, Summit Media (Philippines), Atul Goel, and Gurpreet Singh also participated in this round of funding.

Gurugram-based mobile services marketplace UrbanClap has raised about $3.1 Mn (INR 20 Cr) in venture debt from Trifecta Capital through non-convertible debentures.

Jaipur-based Qriyo Infolabs Pvt. Ltd, which runs home tutor provider Qriyo, has raised an undisclosed amount in Series A funding from Dubai-based investor Neelesh Bhatnagar’s NBVentures.

Mumbai-based, content platform for chronic health issues Sepalika.com announced a $750K Seed round of funding from Accel Partners.

Ola Raises Fresh Rs 1,675 Crore from Softbank

Japanese investor SoftBank has pumped in about Rs 1,675 crore in fresh funding in homegrown Uber-rival Ola. The fresh funding will give the Bangalore-based online transportation network firm a more muscle to give stiff competition to Uber.
According to the filings recorded with the Registrar of Companies (RoC), SoftBank subsidiary SIMI Pacific Pte picked 12,97,945 shares valued at Rs 10 at a premium of Rs 12,895 in Ola’s parent company ANI Technologies.

The allotment of shares was done in November last year, showed the RoC.

Diabetes Care Provider Dr Mohan’s Raises Rs 66 Cr in Series A Funding for Expansion

India’s largest exclusive diabetes care provider, Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre today announced that it has raised Series A investment of $10.23 million (Rs. 66 crores) led by Lok Capital advised Growth Fund – the third fund from Lok. This is the first round of institutional funding for Dr. Mohan’s, since its inception in 1991.Dr. Mohan’s will use the funds to scale rapidly; develop a pan-India presence and grow from a base of 25 clinics to 100 in the next 4 years. This round of funding also counts Evolvence India Fund as co-investor. Venky Natarajan, Managing Partner, Lok Capital and Ajit Kumar, Managing Director, Evolvence India Fund will join the board of Dr. Mohan’s. Veda Corporate Advisors (“Veda”) was the exclusive financial advisor to Dr. Mohan’s for this transaction.

Cox Kings Founder Urrshila Kerkar Invests $7.7M In WeAreHolidays

NCR-based holiday planning startup WeAreHolidays has secured $7.7 Mn in its Series B round of funding led by Urrshila Kerkar, founder and promoter of Cox & Kings. She has reportedly picked up a 50% stake in the company, in an investment facilitated in her personal capacity. The funding will be used to relaunch its app on the Android and iOS. It will also be used to develop the company’s social media-driven approach to travel.

Lendingkart Raises Rs30 Cr in Debt from Anicut Capital

Lendingkart Group, an online lender to small and medium enterprises (SMEs), has raised Rs30 crore in debt from Anicut Capital, the company said on Thursday. Lendingkart will use these funds to expand its loan book and expand to more regions in India.

In June 2016, the company raised $32 million in series B round of debt plus equity funding led by Betelsmann India Investment.

Ninjacart Raises Rs 37 Cr from Nandan Nilekani’s Trust, Others

Bengaluru-based B2B agrimarketing platform ninjacart has raised $5.5 Mn from Accel Partners- India, Nandan Nilekani’s NRJN Trust, Mistletoe, Qualcomm Ventures, and M&S Partners. Ninjacart will use fresh funds to expand its team and invest in supply chain automation, technology and data science. The platform connects farmers to end retailers like grocery stores, supermarkets and restaurants that buy fruits and vegetables.

Tech-Enabled Rental Brokerage Company, FastFox.com Raises Rs 30 Cr in Series A Funding

India’s tech-enabled rental brokerage company, FastFox.com has raised Rs. 30 crore from Lightspeed India Partners, Blume Ventures, CyberAgent Ventures and others, in Series A financing. The company plans to invest the funds to improve its technology solution, perfect its service delivery model and expand the team across engineering, sales and operations. GrowX ventures and IMJ Investment Partners also participated in the round.

Based out of Gurgaon, Fastfox was started by Pallav Pandey and Mukul Bhati in Nov 2014, had earlier raised Rs. 6 Crore in 2015 in Seed round also led by LightSpeed India Partners.

Mumbai-Based Logistics Startup Emiza Raises $4.5M

Mumbai-based third-party logistics startup Emiza on Thursday announced that it has raised $4.5 million, in a funding round led by Mayfield. The round also saw participation from existing investors Nishant Rao, COO, Freshdesk, and Dileep Nath. The funds will be primarily used to expand the business to other geographies, in hiring a robust leadership team, and to focus on technology.
This is the third round of funding for the logistics startup, which was started in early 2016 by Ajay Rao and Rajesh Sharma.

HackerEarth Gets $4.5M in Series A Funding

Professional talent management startup HackerEarth has raised $4.5 Mn (INR 30 Cr) in an equity financing round led by US-based DHI Group Inc. The California- and Bangalore-based startup plans to use the money to strengthen its product team and expand its business internationally, among other purposes.

Capital Float Bags Rs 15 Cr from Mahindra and Mahindra Financial Services

Bengaluru-based online lending platform for SME’s Capital Float has raised $2.3 Mn (INR 15 Cr) from Mahindra and Mahindra Financial Services. The funds have been raised against the allotment of non-convertible debentures (NCDs). The Bengaluru-based company, which lends to small and medium businesses (SMEs), had raised Rs 17 crore from IFMR Capital Finance through NCDs in December.

Work Automation Platform Squad Raises $2.1M from India & Valley-based Investors

San Francisco and New Delhi-based enterprise startup Squad has raised $2.1 million from India and Valley-based investors like Blume Ventures, Contrarian Capital, 91slingshot, Emergent Ventures, Abstract Ventures, Anthill Ventures, Axilor Ventures, as well as from angel investors, Gokul Rajaram, Product Engineering Lead at Square, and Shamik Sharma, Senior Technology Advisor at Myntra.
Squad will use the funds to scale its platform by expanding the technology, product and data teams in India and the sales team in the US.

Hyderabad-based Vicinia Retail Pvt. Ltd, which operates food delivery startup TinMen, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from MAPE Advisory Group, Sify co-founder R Ramaraj and Corvus Ventures, which is led by Mahesh Reddy of MAPE Advisory.

Health foods startup Kiji Foods has raised Rs 3 crore ($464,000) in angel funding from Shekhar Sahu and Kunal Sinha, co-founders of Healthcare Magic which was acquired by Ebix Inc.

Gurgaon-based fund Redcliffe Capital on Wednesday said it has invested in an online retailer of safety and hygiene products, SafetyKart.com Retail while the company has moved its private label brand and product PeeSafe to a newly founded entity Redcliffe Hygiene.

Mobikwik has received about Rs 6 crore (about $930,000) from existing investor Cisco Investments India Pvt. Ltd and Bennett Coleman & Co Ltd (BCCL) as part of its $50-million Series C round.

Delhi-based Purple Panda Fashions Pvt. Ltd, which operates online-first lingerie and sleepwear retailer Clovia, has attracted two new investors in a fresh round of funding nearly two years after its Series A round.

HealthCare at Home raises $40M from Quadria Capital

Home-based medical services provider Health Care at Home India (HCAH) has secured $38.5 million (INR 250 Cr) from healthtech-focussed PE firm Quadria Capital. The company will use the money to build infrastructure, which includes expansion in nearly 25 cities. It aims to be reach Rs 1,000 crore in sales by 2020. For Quadria Capital, which only looks at investments in healthcare, this is the first of such model in India that it has invested in. HCAH, promoted by Gaurav Burman, offers high-end healthcare delivery services like ICU care, kidney dialysis, cancer care treatment at home.

Medwell Raises $21M from Mahindra Partners, Others

Home healthcare service provider Medwell Ventures has raised $21 million in Series B funding led by Mahindra Partners with participation from existing investors Eight Roads Ventures and US-based F-Prime Capital Partners. “We will use the funds to grow in existing cities as well as expand to newer regions. In FY18, we plan to expand to NCR (National Capital Region) and Chennai and later in eastern India,” said Vishal Bali, co-founder and chairman of Medwell Ventures.

Health tech Startup PharmEasy Gets $16M in Series B Round

Mumbai-based pharma platform PharmEasy has raised $16 million in Series B round led by Bessemer Venture Partners and Orios Venture Partners. With the newly raised round, the startup aims to expand its geographical presence in India and also seeks to penetrate further into its existing markets to bolster category-leadership position. PharmEasy is currently operational in seven cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Pune, Jaipur and Ahmedabad with over 150 partner vendors. The startup is looking to strengthen its tech team.

Eruditus Raises Rs 53 Cr from Bertelsmann India

Edtech startup Eruditus Executive Education has secured about $8 million (INR 53 Cr) in a Series B round led by Bertelsmann India Investments. The company plans to use the funds to add new programmes with the existing and new university partners as well as expand its geographical reach to China, Latin America and Europe.

Norwest, Kalaari Capital Lead $7M Funding Round in Pune Based ElasticRun

Kalaari Capital and Norwest Venture Partners have led a $7 million funding round in ElasticRun, a Pune-based stealth startup. The financing was completed in two tranches, with the first tranche of about $2 million coming through in April last year. The year-old startup, which has largely been in stealth mode, will use the proceeds to further build its technology infrastructure, on-board talent and expand operations.

Fintech Startup Perfios Raises About $6M from Bessemer VP

Bengaluru-based fintech firm Perfios has reportedly raised $6.1 million (INR 40 Cr) in Series A funding round from Bessemer Venture Partners. “We will use the funds for three core areas -team expansion from our current strength of 55 people, international expansion by strengthening our presence in the UAE and Southeast Asia where we already serve clients, and potential acquisitions,“ Govindarajan said.

Aeries Financial Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a fintech company promoted by serial entrepreneur and private equity investor Mr. V. Raman Kumar, today announced that CASHe, India’s growing app-only lending platform for young professionals has closed a series A funding from investor group led by Mr. Mathew Cyriac and advised by Florintree Advisors. Greenko Energy Raises $155M from GIC, ADIA

Renewable energy firm Greenko Energy Holdings Pvt Ltd has raised $155 million (around Rs 1,008 crore) from existing investors Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). The firm will use the funds to expand its clean energy portfolio to 3 gigawatts from 2GW. The funds will contribute to the continued growth of Greenko’s platform through the development of new renewable energy projects, including recently-acquired solar projects, and expansion of existing wind farms.

Cloud Based Enterprise Software Firm Icertis Bags $25M

Cloud-based enterprise software firm Icertis Inc has raised $25 million (Rs 175 crore) in a Series C funding round led by B Capital Group, taking the total it has received so far from investors to $46 million (Rs 300 crore). Existing investors Ignition Partners, Greycroft, e.ventures and Eight Roads Ventures also invested in the new round. The development comes exactly a year after the firm raised $15 million in its Series B round.

Oriano Solar, a Mumbai-based startup that specializes in turnkey solar solutions, has raised Series A funding worth $3 million (around Rs 20 crore) from Samridhi Fund, which is managed by SIDBI Venture Capital Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI). Logistics Firm Delhivery Raises $100M

Delhi-based ecommerce logistics firm Delhivery has raised $100 million funding from US-based investment fund Carlyle Asia Partners, with participation from existing investor Tiger Global. In March 2015, the company had raised a massive $85 million Series D round led by Tiger Global Management with participation from existing investors, Multiples Alternate Asset Management, Nexus Venture Partners and Times Internet Limited. And in September 2014, the firm secured its Series C round, led by Multiples Alternate Asset Management.

Research Firm MarketsandMarkets Gets $56M

Pune-based global industry research and consulting company MarketsandMarkets has raised $56 million in a funding led by FTV Capital. Venture capital firm Zodius Capital came in as a co-investor, as per a statement by financial services provider Avendus Capital, which advised MarketsandMarkets on the transaction.

The research and consulting firm, which was launched in 2010, will use the funds to fuel its growth and global expansion, focused on the US and European markets.

ixigo Closes $15M in Series B Round Led by Sequoia Capital

Online travel search portal ixigo has closed its $15 million Series B round led by venture capital firm Sequoia Capital. Chinese investment firm Fosun Kinzon Capital Pte Ltd also participated in the round. The company will use the money for product capability, expansion plans as well as for brand promotion. The deal is a mix of compulsorily convertible preference shares and equity shares which was signed in January this year and closed last Friday.

MyGlamm Bags Rs 35 Cr from French Cosmetic Firm L'Occitane

On-demand beauty services provider MyGlamm has raised Rs. 35 crore from French cosmetic giant L'Occitane to expand its offerings in India ahead of beginning operations overseas. MyGlamm, seeking to establish itself as a fullstack beauty business, is preparing to introduce about 100 makeup products in India by July and take its operations global by the end of this year, with the Middle East being the first stop.

It will also introduce beauty education for customers as a certification service, in addition to the training for artists that it already offers. The company is also preparing to launch five stores in Mumbai and New Delhi this year.

Kalaari Capital Invests Rs 24 Cr in Enterprise Payment Solutions Provider Airpay

Mumbai based payment services startup, Airpay, has raised Rs 24 crore as part of a Series A round, led by Kalaari Capital and existing investors Rakesh Jhunjhunwala & Rajesh Jhunjhunwala.

Airpay was founded by Amit Kapoor, Kunal Jhunjhunwala and Rohan Deshpande, experienced technology, operations and marketing professionals. The founders witnessed first hand, various payment related hurdles faced by medium & large enterprises and decided to come together to solve a complex problem.

GrabOnRent Close to Raising $3M in Series A Round

Bangalore-based GrabOnRent Internet Pvt. Ltd, which runs product rental marketplace Grabonrent, is close to raising $3 million (Rs 19.5 crore) in Series A funding from new and existing investors. Existing investors IvyCap Ventures and Unicorn India Ventures will also participate in the round. The startup will use the funds to expand the business to other cities, including Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Pune and Chennai. GrabOnRent currently operates in Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Keriton Raises $1.1M in Funding

Vidur Bhatnagar, a 26-year-old youngster hailing from Roorkee has raised $1.1 million (Rs 7.1 crore) for his start-up venture -- 'Keriton', which is aimed at making breast milk management easier for nurses and mothers in the case of premature babies. The pilot phase of Keriton is to be started soon with the hospital of University of Pennsylvania. Initial investors to the start-up include venture-capitalists as well as US-based angel investors.

Retail Tech Startup Mobisy Technologies Raises $382K in Bridge Round

Mobisy Technologies Private Limited has raised $382,000 bridge round from existing investor Ojas Ventures and two undisclosed angel investors. The capital will be used to expand Distiman geographically and scale up Bizom’s operations.

“Other functions, such as brand sales and engineering, are shared. In fact, Bizom is Distiman’s back-end technology, so the engineering roadmap for the products is essentially the same. Hence, the same resourcing and costs,” Arun Narayanan, co-founder, Mobisy Technologies said.

Adurcup Raises $325K in Pre-Series A Round

Adurcup, an online managed marketplace for procurements needs of restaurants in India, has secured approximately $325,000 in pre-Series A round of funding from undisclosed corporate investors and family offices, with participation from existing investors.

The capital will be used for “building stronger unit economics by bringing efficiencies in the current supply chain processes using technology”. Additionally, Adurcup plans to expand its operations in Jaipur, Lucknow and Chandigarh. Currently, the startup operates only in Delhi-NCR.

Social Startup Haqdarshak Secures Angel Funding

Bangalore-headquartered Haqdarshak Empowerment Solutions Pvt. Ltd, a tech-enabled social enterprise, has raised close to Rs 1.25 crore ($191,000) in angel funding from a clutch of investors, including WonderChef managing director Ravi Saxena and former Infosys executive Sandeep Raju. Besides, for its pre-Series A funding round, the startup has secured in-principle commitment from three social impact investors to raise as much as Rs 13.1 crore ($2 million).

Airbnb Closes $1B in its Series F Round

Online room renting service Airbnb said on Thursday it had raised $1 billion in its latest round of funding, valuing the company at $31 billion. Airbnb raised $447.85 million as part of the Series F round. The company had raised about $555 million as part of the same round of funding in September 2016. The company turned in a profit on an EBITDA basis in the second half of 2016 and expects to continue to be profitable this year, the source said, adding that Airbnb had no plans to go public anytime soon.

Instacart Raises $400M at $3.4B Valuation

Grocery delivery startup Instacart has raised a $400 million round at a valuation of $3.4B led by Sequoia Capital. Other investors in the Series D round include Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator Continuity, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Wellcome Trust, FundersClub, Khosla Ventures, Initialized Capital, Thrive Capital and Valiant Capital. Instacart has to date raised more than $600 million. The company says it operates in 35 markets and plans to double its footprint this year.

SoftBank in talks to invest $300M in Snapdeal.com

SoftBank is negotiating to invest $100-150 million in Snapdeal owner Jasper Infotech in tranches, according to three people familiar with developments. A fourth person said overall investment could be as high as $300 million in Jasper, which is grappling with slowing sales and has been forced to cut jobs. The company was last valued at $6.5 billion when it raised $200 million in funding led by Canada's Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan in February 2016.

Warburg Pincus-Backed Ecom Express to Raise $150M

E-commerce-focused logistics firm Ecom Express Pvt Ltd has initiated the process of raising at least $75 million in a new round of funding, two people aware of the development said. Ecom Express’s existing private equity investor Warburg Pincus is likely to bring in another $75 million, which could take the fund-raising to a total of $150 million.

Rivigo Raises About $15M Debt Finance

Gurugram-based logistics platform, Rivigo has raised about $15 Mn (INR 100 Cr) debt finance from undisclosed lending private sector banks. The startup will use the newly raised funds to increase its fleet and for preparing to introduce new products, including a technology to automate its trucking operations.

12 New Startups Get funding of Rs 85 Crore in Pitch@Rashtrapati Bhavan

Yesterday saw 12 new Indian ventures getting Rs 85cr in funding in the Capital city, New Delhi. Pitch@Rahstrapati Bhavan, a startup event organised by the Presidential Residence on March 7, 2017 in partnership with Industry body, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) was responsible for making this possible.

The programme, which was a part of the third Festival of Innovation (FOIN), aimed to provide a platform to both investors and startups to come together and talks business.

The startups who raised funding are GoMechanic, elth.ai, Neurosynaptic, Perfint, LoanTap, ftcash, Trupay, Myra Medicines, WholesaleBox, Sieve, Prokure & Omix Laboratories.

Sistema Asia Fund to Invest up to Rs 80 Cr in Four Indian Startups

Venture capital fund of Russian conglomerate Sistema JSFC, Sistema Asia Fund (SAF) Advisory, plans to invest $12 million in at least four Indian startups in mid-stage financing deals. Singapore-registered SAF Advisory aims to "wrap up midstage Series-B and Series-C financing deals in calendar 2017 in at least four Indian startups operating in the technology and consumer-tech domains," Andrey Terebenin, Managing Partner of the fund, told ET.

Pune Based Agri Tech Startup AgroStar Raises $10M in Series B Round

Accel India leads a $10 million series B round in agri-tech start-up AgroStar. Existing investors IDG Ventures and Aavishkaar also participated in this round. AgroStar has built a technology platform and uses data analytics and agronomy expertise to provide real time solutions to farmers in India.

India has over 100 million farmers who face challenges ranging from duplication of agri inputs, substandard products and the lack of tehincal know-how to grow their crop. These problems have led to very low farm productivity, resulting in Indian yields being lower than the world average for most of the crops. AgroStar is solving these challenges by providing real time solutions to farmers through its technology platform accessible to the farmer by a simple “missed call” and it’s android app. AgroStar has over 1 million farmers connected on its platform and is currently operational in the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan.

MagicBricks Raises Rs 30 Cr from Times Internet

Property listings website magicbricks.com has raised Rs 30 crore from its parent Times Internet Ltd, documents filed with the Registrar of Companies show. The company will use the funds towards brand building initiatives, product development, seller development activities and curating information on the portal, chief executive officer Sudhir Pai said.

Logistics Startup Blowhorn Raises Rs 25 Cr in Series A Round of Funding

Intra-city logistics startup Blowhorn has raised $3.65 million (Rs 25 crores) in series A funding from IDG Ventures India, together with the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation and existing investors, Draper Associates and Unitus Seed Fund. The company plans to utilize the investment to expand operations to 8 cities in the next 24 months, with over 25,000 daily active drivers.
