Here Comes The News Of Mobikwik Raising Funds


If sources to be believe, Gurgaon-based startup, Mobikwik is in talks to raise $100 - $150 million in a round that would value the company at more than $1 billion. Upasana Taku, co-founder of Mobikwik has confirmed the news to one of the digital media. This round will lead the company towards the India’s elite club of unicorn startups. Investor's names are not yet revealed by the co-founder, however, she has said that the startup would include one major strategic investor and a number of financial institutions.

The possible fund raise will happen in next couple of months. Further, post raising funds, company plans to invest $45 million of the capital raised on growing user and merchant bases, and expand its current base of six offices to more than 20.

Google Launches Website Builder For SMBs And Startups


The tech giant, Google has rolled outWebsite With Google My Business”, a new feature that will help SMBs and startups in India to build a mobile optimised website instantly right from their phone in less than 10 minutes. Being made available in ten languages including English, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada and Malayalam, the tool will let businesses create their first website absolutely free of cost.

Available for Google My Business users, this new feature will provide templated, editable websites for SMBs created from their data and photos on Google Maps. The tech giant makes use of small businesses listing to build the website, taking care of the design and makes sure that their website is easily found in Search and Maps.

Co-working Space Innnov8 Elevates Shailesh Gupta As CEO


Co-working space, Innov8 is further strengthening its foothold by adding 7 more centres to its portfolio in next 6 months. The company plans to be in 5 major cities by FY 17. Further company’s board has elevated Shailesh Gupta, one of the two co-founders, as CEO while Dr Ritesh Malik will become the MD of the company.

Within a year and a half of its launch, the startup is operational in Bengaluru, Chandigarh and Delhi and is expanding to Mumbai, Noida and Gurugram by the year-end.

Indian Startups Fasten Your Seatbelt And Get Ready To Bag Investment From 500 Startups


Silicon Valley-based early-stage venture fund, 500 Startups is on its way to make 10-12 investments in the Indian startup industry this year. Some of 500 Startups’ global micro funds have already started making investments in the Indian subcontinent this year.

Founded by Dave McClure and Christine Tsai in 2010, the seed accelerator is on the verge of making seven deals in totality, starting with the investment in Spoyl, a used-goods marketplace in December 2016.

Spark10 Accelerator Invites Application For Its Cohort


As part of its newly designed accelerator program, Spark10 accelerator has invited applications for its latest cohort. Previously run two cohorts, in Hyderabad and Bangalore, the accelerator in the past 18 months has invested in 13 Indian startups from fields ranging from artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, e-commerce to nightlife discovery with a collective approximate valuation of over Rs. 50 crores.

The 2016 cohort saw the brightest of Indian startup-brains compete for selection to the first accelerator programme by Spark10. The nine startups mentored in this cohort gained immensely from the mentorship of the experienced team of entrepreneurs, investors and mentors of Spark10.

Visakhapatnam, The Next Tech Startup Hup


Visakhapatnam is all set to be the hub for technology startups. V Valli Kumari, Chief Executive Officer of APIS has stated that they’re looking at young and local talent whose ideas could be turned into successful business models.

Rape Victim Files A New Lawsuit Against Uber


A woman who was raped by an Uber driver in India has filed a new lawsuit against the Uber as company’s executives had obtained her medical records following the attack.

Identified as Jane Doe, the Indian woman and current Texas resident previously filed suit against the company in 2015 after being raped by an Uber driver, charging the ride-hail giant with negligence and fraud. The case was reportedly settled for over $3 million, while her attacker Shiv Kumar Yadav was convicted and imprisoned for life.

Spark10 Inviting Applications for Its Latest Cohort from Indian Tech Startups

Spark10 accelerator has launched applications to its latest cohort today, as part of its newly designed accelerator program. Spark10 is an established name in in the Indian start-up community and has previously run two cohorts, in Hyderabad and Bangalore. In the past 18 months, it has invested in 13 Indian startups from fields ranging from Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning, Cybersecurity, E-Commerce to Nightlife discovery with a collective approximate valuation of over Rs. 50 crores.

The nine startups mentored in this cohort gained immensely from the mentorship of the experienced team of entrepreneurs, investors and mentors of Spark10. Brisky, a personalized mobile app based nightlife discovery, sharing and booking, arguably, the first of its kind in India, has seen amazing success in Pune and Hyderabad and is planning to launch soon in Bangalore. Notably, they raised the next round of funding within two months of joining Spark10’s programme.

Cohort 2017 with four startups had more advanced stage startups than just MVP (Minimum Viable Product) stage ones, notable among them being Artivatic and Neo Eyed. Artivatic is an Enterprise AI Platform, built on the patterns of Genomics Science, Psychology and Neuroscience Capabilities to automate decision making with prediction, personalization & recommendation in real time. Currently, it focuses on Finance & Telecom sectors. Artivatic closed a funding round with a Singapore based Angel Investor post joining Spark10’s programme. NeoEYED helps businesses and users get rid of passwords on mobile apps using implicit authentication based on 30 different behavioural activities such as the way users hold their phone, interact with the screen, walk, run etc. Its solutions can protect from financial frauds and ransomware attacks such as the recent Ransomware attack that hit 99 countries and brought most of the global systems on hold including NHS in the UK and ATMs in India. They were selected to be a part of USA based Software Security Accelerator Mac37 after joining Spark10.

Atal Malviya, the CEO of Spark10 said that in the next 18 months, the company aims to invest in 20 Indian and 10 UK promising startups – that will result in approximately 40+ investee companies in their already impressive portfolio. With their new rolling cohort model in place now, Spark10 is well on the path to turn the dreams of many Indian startups to reality with their three pillars of visibility, capital and mentorship.

Their new programme is a rolling cohort, spanning over 6 months, where startups will be required to co-locate with Spark10 for only one week every month. To keep startups focused on their goal, there will be weekly reviews (remote and in person) and ongoing mentorship sessions, workshops and talks along with the opportunity to network and connect with experts from industry as well as investors. In India, existing and new accelerators are still trying to make the traditional model invented in 2005 work, while Spark10 offers flexibility and extended support so they help startups in all the crucial stages of growth.

Applications to Spark10’s new cohort open from June 13, 2017. The applicants will undergo a time-bound selection process. Selected startups will receive mentorship and/or capital to build and scale their business as per requirement, for a small equity capped at 6% or up to a maximum investment amount of Rs. 20 lakhs. Spark10’s outreach partner for this cohort are Indore based Rethinkers (www.rethinkers.in), who will aid in reaching out to startups in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Rethinkers mentor and manage Madhya Pradesh Government’s first incubation centre at Indore. They also provide co-working space, technical and financial mentorship and other shared resources to startup teams.

India’s first European startup accelerator - Spark10, aimed at helping early stage startups, officially announced its launch in Hyderabad on Monday and invited applications for its accelerator programme.

Spark10 is planning to facilitate investments to the tune of $100 million (around Rs 678 crore) in Indian startups over the next two years.

The accelerator Spark10 is inviting applications from startups for the programme to be offered at its facility in the Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI) in Hyderabad's Gachibowli region. Spark10 invites start-ups with minimum viable product (MVP) in Internet of Things, mobile, Internet, smart technologies, analytics and machine learning.

The 13-week programme and workspace apart, the selected start-ups will be provided a seed funding support of Rs.20 lakh in return of 8 per cent equity by the accelerator. In addition, Spark10 has also partnered with GREX that acts a platform for high growth unlisted companies to access finance from private investors.

Speaking at the inauguration, lead founder of Spark10 Atal Malviya said "We have arrived in India with a single motive to churn out startups into valuable companies. We are here to foster rapid growth of portfolio of tech startups by offering a network of support that lasts throughout the entrepreneurial journey of the founder."
