Nazara Reports Highest Ever EBITDA of ₹ 52.4 Cr on Record Revenues of ₹ 534.7 Cr in Q3FY25

Nazara Technologies Limited, a leading diversified gaming and sports media platform, has reported its highest-ever quarterly EBITDA of INR 52.4 crores in Q3FY25, reflecting 39% year-on-year growth. The company announced revenues of INR 534.7 crores and a PAT of 13.7 crores for the same period.

Nazara’s core Gaming segment revenues grew by 53%, fuelled by strategic acquisitions including Fusebox Games as well as strong performance by existing games such as Animal Jam.

The recent licensing agreements and upcoming integrations of popular entertainment IPs are further set to enhance user growth and engagement going forward. Kiddopia’s collaboration with Mattel’s Barbie and Moonbug’s Little Angel will strengthen engagement among young audiences, while partnerships with well-known franchises including Big Brother and Bigg Boss will enable the gaming vertical to scale.

Nazara also announced the acquisition of popular gaming IPs CATS: Crash Arena Turbo Stars and King of Thieves. These games will be operated and published by Nazara Technologies Ltd, thereby ensuring revenue and profit from these will accrue directly to the listed entity. We intend to further scale this model in coming quarters

To support its expansion, Nazara is raising INR 495 crores through a preferential equity issue to Axana Estates LLP, led by Arpit Khandelwal and Mithun Sacheti. This capital infusion, combined with Nazara’s strong cash reserves, provides the company with financial flexibility to pursue further acquisitions as well as boost organic growth to drive long-term value creation.

Nazara Completes Majority Stake Acquisition in Gamified EdTech Venture - Kiddopia


Nazara Technologies Limited, a leading global gaming and sports media company has completed its majority stake acquisition of 51% in Paper Boat Apps by issuing Nazara shares worth INR 43 crores as part of its final tranche of the transaction. Paper Boat Apps are developers of the popular ‘Made in India’ app Kiddopia catering to young children in the age bracket of 2 to 7 years old.





This is Nazara’s second transaction in the year 2020 after undertaking a majority stake-holding in fantasy platform, Halaplay Technologies Pvt. Ltd. last month. This transaction is part of the INR 83 crore stake deal  to acquire majority in Paper Boat Apps valuing the company in excess of INR 150 cr. 





Since the initial funding, Kiddopia has seen over 300% growth in revenues and is now witnessing an annualized revenue run rate of over INR 175 crores. 





Kiddopia was launched in 2017 by husband-wife duo, Anupam and Anshu Dhanuka. The app became an instant hit and has reached the #1 rank in the Kids category on the US App Store. The app has been downloaded by more than 5 million parents around the world and currently has over 300,000 active subscribers.  





On the growth trajectory, Anupam Dhanuka, Co-Founder and CEO, Kiddopia says, “This investment from Nazara has helped us focus on product enhancement and marketing, thereby leading to a 3X growth in subscriber base.”





He further adds “We have just finished our best month and we expect our topline to grow 2X in annual revenues by March 2021.”

Nazara to Invest $20 Million in Startups in 2020

Daily Fantasy Sports Platform HalaPlay Raises $5.8 Mn from Nazara and Delta Corp



Bangalore-based HalaPlay Technologies, a Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) platform, has raised ₹ 40 crore (~US$5.79 million) in a Series-A round of funding from its existing investor Nazara Technologies, a Mumbai-based mobile gaming startup, and India-listed casino gaming company Delta Corp.

Backed by Kae Capital as a seed-stage investor, HalaPlay plans to use the freshly raised capital to boost its marketing and product development, and expand its team.

Prior to this funding, the startup had raised about ₹8 crore in seed round in November 2017.

Founded in January 2017 by Swapnil Saurav, Prateek Anand, Ananya Singhal and Aman Kesari, HalaPlay offers the shortest and quickest version of fantasy sports where users can create a team, enter leagues and win cash prizes at the end of every game.

For Nazara Technologies, which has been investing in segments such as real money gaming and premium esports, HalaPlay is its only investment in fantasy gaming.Nazara has made a total of six investments far including InstaSportz Consultancy, an offline VR gaming startup, TrulySocial, a London-based contemporary casual social world gaming firm, among others.

Recently, Mumbai-based Dream11 Fantasy Pvt. Ltd had raised $100 million in a round of funding led by Tencent Holdings at valuation of about $700 million-$800 million. Dream11 claims to leading the fantasy gaming segment with a user base of 50 million.

In November, Bangalore-based Galactus Funware Technology Private Limited, which runs and owns e-sports platform Mobile Premier League (MPL), had raised about 36.5 crore in a Series A round of funding from undisclosed investors .

Earlier this year, Kerala Startup Mission, the nodal agency of the Kerala state government for technical entrepreneurship, has partnered with Unity Technologies, a US-based game development company, to launch a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for AR/VR and gaming, in order to help the startup culture boom in the gaming and AR/VR sectors.

Nazara Games Invests in Moong Labs to Tap the Mobile Gaming Market Globally

India's premium and largest mobile game publisher, Nazara Games today announced its investment in Moong Labs, a leading developer of realistic 3D cricket simulation games.

Moong Labs had last year entered into a publishing partnership with Nazara Games to publish their realistic simulation mobile cricket game on Virat Kohli, the current Indian Cricket team captain. Virat Super Cricket and Epic Cricket, two games published by Nazara under partnership with Moong Labs have been critically acclaimed by the players for the game play experience, besides seeing large number of downloads over last year.

Mumbai-based Nazara Games has made an undisclosed investment in London-based mobile games studio TrulySocial, along with London Venture Partners and Drussila Hollanda-Gronberg, who is a game lead at mobile game developer, Supercell.

The startup plans to launch a social world game for mobile phones and tablets specifically targeting women. The game would create real-life situations and weekly updates for individual player experiences by the end of 2016.

"The women-centric genre is a very important space for us to target. There's a largely untapped gaming audience in India and their product has the potential to gain over 1 million downloads in a relative short time-span, among women in both tier 2 and 3 (cities), as well as the metros," said Manish Agarwal, CEO of Nazara Games.
