JSW MG Motor India Champions Cleaner Mobility with Air Purification Tech Across Its Portfolio

JSW MG Motor India Champions Cleaner Mobility with Air Purification Tech Across Its Portfolio

As the festive season brings joy across India, it also coincides with a sharp rise in air pollution caused by firecrackers, stubble burning and other factors. The resulting smog fills the air with invisible pollutants that can harm you and your family. Recognizing this growing concern, JSW MG Motor India is helping customers breathe cleaner air inside their vehicles through advanced PM 2.5 Air Filters and Air Purifiers across its portfolio*.

All MG models including the Astor, Gloster, Windsor, Comet, and ZS EV comes equipped with PM 2.5 Air Filters, and the popular MG Hector features a PM 2.5 Air Purifier with an inbuilt Air Quality Index (AQI) display. Together, these innovations ensure that MG owners can enjoy every journey in a cleaner, healthier in-cabin environment, even when outdoor air quality dips.

JSW MG Motor India Champions Cleaner Mobility with Air Purification Tech Across Its Portfolio

PM 2.5 refers to fine particulate matter smaller than 2.5 microns, so tiny that it can bypass the nose and throat and reach the lungs. MG’s PM 2.5 Air Filters trap up to 95–99% of these harmful particles, including dust, smoke, soot, pollen, and bacteria.

The PM 2.5 Air Purifier in the MG Hector takes cabin safety further with activated carbon filter, effectively removing pollutants, allergens, and odors. The integrated AQI display gives passengers real-time updates on the air quality inside the cabin, creating awareness and peace of mind.

This initiative aligns with JSW MG Motor India’s vision for a cleaner, smarter, and sustainable future. The company has consistently introduced technologies that improve everyday mobility while protecting the environment from pioneering connected cars to leading India’s EV transition with models like the ZS EV, Comet, and Windsor.

By integrating advanced filtration and purification systems across its range, JSW MG Motor India continues to prioritize customer well-being while promoting environmental responsibility.

include a range of AC and DC chargers capable of speeds from 22kW to 120kW.

Power EV aims to expand the availability of AC chargers and introduce high-capacity DC charging options by deploying 1,000 charging points in 1,000 days within residential communities and apartments across India.

Another Epsilon Group subsidiary, LICO, will assist MG Motor India in its Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations by providing comprehensive battery recycling and certification services. This partnership emphasizes a circular economy approach, focusing on second-life and end-of-life solutions for batteries.

Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility and MG Motor India Tie-up To Develop EV Charging Infrastructure

Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility and MG Motor India Tie-up To Develop EV Charging Infrastructure

Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Total Gas (ATGL), and MG Motor India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on developing electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.

This partnership aims to enhance the EV ecosystem by setting up CC2 60 kW DC chargers at upcoming MG dealerships, improving customer accessibility to charging facilities. Additionally, the two companies plan to integrate public charging stations across platforms using advanced application programming interfaces (APIs), which will contribute to a cleaner environment by reducing carbon emissions.

The collaboration between Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility and MG Motor India addresses one of the major hurdles in EV adoption - the lack of charging infrastructure. By setting up fast-charging stations at MG dealerships, the collaboration will make it more convenient for EV owners to charge their vehicles. The partnership aims to improve customer experience by providing easy access to charging facilities, which can encourage more consumers to consider purchasing EVs.

In addition, a digital platform will be launched to facilitate a seamless customer experience, covering discovery, user authentication, charging, and billing settlement through a dedicated mobile application.

With this partnership, integrating public charging stations across platforms using APIs will likely lead to a more seamless charging experience for users, as they can locate and access chargers through a unified system.

By pomoting the use of EVs, this collaboration contributes to reducing carbon emissions, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change and promote sustainability. Such collaborations can stimulate the growth of the EV market in India, potentially leading to increased investment and innovation in the sector.

Overall, this MoU represents a strategic move to accelerate India's transition to a greener automotive landscape.

JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal Reportedly Acquiring 48% in China- based Subsidiary MG Motors India

JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal Reportedly Acquiring 48% in China- based MG Motors

Sajjan Jindal, chairman of JSW Group, is reportedly aiming to buy into MG Motor India, a wholly owned a subsidiary of Shanghai-based Chinese automotive manufacturer SAIC Motor which markets vehicles under the British MG marque, said a report by Economic Times citing people privy with knowledge of the matter.

Mr Jindal will acquire the stakes in MG Motor India, via one of his private company. Notably, JSW group's listed companies — JSW Steel and JSW Energy — will not have any exposure to the automobile venture, the report said.

Gurugram headquartered MG Motor India was setup in the year 2017 and began its sales and manufacturing operations in 2019 with a facility in Halol, Gujarat. In January this year, MG Motor India decided to raise capital for funding its expansion in the country by tapping into Indian capital markets and reducing shareholding of its Shanghai-based parent organization SAIC.

Citing multiple sources aware of ongoing discussions, the ET report further said that Jindal is likely to own 45- 48% of MG Motor India, with dealers and Indian employees owning 5-8%, while SAIC will hold the rest.

Furthermore, the ET report also cited a senior government official, saying that MG Motor India will "become an Indian entity, instead of a Chinese one, with an eventual India listing in the next few years," said a senior government official.

MG Motors in Talks with 3 Medical Device Cos including GE to Manufacture Ventilators

MG Motor India is in talks with three medical device makers, including GE, to produce ventilators at its Halol facility to help meet demand during the coronavirus pandemic, according to a top company official.

The company, which has also launched a hunt for a low-cost ventilator design through a challenge, is also developing its own ventilator and hopes to be ready with a prototype within a week as part of its three-pronged approach to get into ventilator manufacturing considering the shortage during this health crisis.

"We are talking to medical equipment companies like GE and some other companies, which already have established and approved designs. If they can tell us, then we can start manufacturing based on their design in our plant," MG Motor India President and Managing Director Rajeev Chaba told PTI.

He further said all three companies have responded positively and that can be the fastest solution if there is a design approved by the medical body already and everything is in place.

Besides, he said, "In the last 10 days, our engineering team is busy making a prototype. I'm happy to say that we have already made the drawings and everything. We have talked to the medical experts, our prototype should be ready in the next one week. If that prototype is approved, then our own designed ventilator can be manufactured by MG in India."

However, this approach will take some more time as it needs regulatory approvals, he added.

The company has also announced a Rs 10 lakh grant through its "challenge to youngsters and young engineers that if they want to make a low-cost design, we are going to help them", Chaba said.

On the manufacturing of ventilators, he said MG Motor India will create infrastructure at its Halol facility and would even carve out a separate unit if need be.

"If the car demand is not too much in future then my existing manpower can work on this project. We may have to have some new capex for this kind of a thing, although I don't know exactly how does that look like. But then we will look at putting the right capex into this project to make the ventilators," he said.

On the other hand, Chaba said if the demand for the company's vehicles continues and have waiting period as it is now and "if our people get busy making the cars, I feel we would carve out a separate unit for ventilators."

"If we have to recruit more people, we will do it to have more people into this project because this virus is not going to go away in the next three years or so," he said, stressing that even if vaccines are developed for the coronavirus it is going to take long to make them available at a mass scale.

He further said in India at the moment there is a huge gap between demand and supply for ventilators.

"We don't want to make this as a profit making venture. If we can keep it low cost and operate at breakeven and supply to the community, to the government, it will be a great service," Chaba said. PTI RKL
