Instamojo closes Pre-Series C funding round from Japanese investors Base and Gunosy Capital



Instamojo, announced today the closing of its Pre-Series-C funding round of an undisclosed sum. This round of funding saw the participation of Japanese investors Base and existing investors such as Gunosy Capital, who participated in Series B round back in January 2019. The funds raised will be used to expedite the company's growth and product roadmap as well as venture into international markets in the coming year.

Instamojo began its journey in the Fintech space with its flagship product - The online payment link, thereby solving the digital payments challenge for several entrepreneurs. Focused on empowering the Indian MSME sector, the company recently acquired GetMeAShop (GMAS), an e-commerce enablement firm backed by Times Internet which help small businesses establish an online presence and run a store. This provided smarter and simpler solutions for businesses to sustain in a digitally evolving landscape, especially during times like the pandemic. With this new round of funding, the company aims to take its presence global, and become a global e-commerce enabler for small businesses.

The company recently turned cash-flow positive, with an all-time high GMV of Rs 2,000 crores. In recent months, Instamojo introduced easy ways of going digital through their 'Priority KYC', 'Sachet loans on Whatsapp' and 'InstaCash' features which enabled merchants to go online and get instant access to loans. During the pandemic, the company recorded a 30% rise in their merchant-base, thus marking the start of a digital revolution in the sector.

Instamojo partners with Google India to digitize Indian SME sector

Instamojo, India's full-stack MSME-tech solutions provider, today announced its partnership with Google India as part of the 'Grow with Google' program. The partnership aims to provide small business owners and enterprises the digital tools to do business at ease.


Reports state that, out of a total population of 6.33 crore MSMEs in India, about 62% of MSMEs still run offline businesses in the middle of a digitally evolving ecosystem. The current pandemic situation has pushed lot of businesses advance their digitization plans.

Businesses who sign up for this program with Instamojo will be offered the benefit of free subscription to Instamojo's Premium Online Store for a period of 6 months. This can be availed by SMBs who have offline business, and are now looking to establish an online presence.

Japanese Payments Firm Anypay Backs Bengaluru Based Instamojo

On-demand payments and e-commerce platform, Instamojo has secured an undisclosed amount of funding in pre-series B round from Anypay, a Japanese payments firm. Existing investor, Kalaari Capital also participated in the current round.

This latest round of funding marks Anypay's foray into the Indian internet market. Prior to this round, the company has raised $2.6 million from Kalaari Capital, Blume Ventures, 500 Startups and others in November 2014.

The latest funding will allow Instamojo to expand its suite of offerings and introduce e-commerce enabling services such as cataloging, logistics, shipping and GST compliance assistance.The company will leverage big data and introduce financial services such as lending via third-party providers in the coming months. Instamojo plans to expand its leadership team to meet these goals.
