India Ranks 1st for Play-To-Earn Gaming Adoption - NFT Gaming Adoption Report
  • 34% of Indian internet users have used play-to-earn gaming platforms
  • An additional 11% plan to try one this year, meaning adoption could soon reach 45%
  • Play-to-earn gaming adoption is highest in India (34%) and lowest in Sweden (4%)
Indian ranks 1st for play-to-earn (P2E) gaming adoption out of 26 countries, according to Finder’s NFT Gaming Adoption Report.

Finder.com polled 43,312 people across 26 countries to reveal that 34% of Indian internet users have played-to-earn, a figure well above the global average of 14%.

Hong Kong has the next most P2E gamers (29%), followed by the United Arab Emirates (27%), the Philippines (25%) and Vietnam and Singapore (23% each).

In India, men are more likely to have played-to-earn than women (38% vs 29%). The report also reveals that it is young adults who are driving adoption, with 42% of those aged 18-34 saying they have played games to earn rewards or money.

Finder’s cryptocurrency editor, Keegan Francis, said P2E adoption could soon hit 45% in India. “The data suggests that we’ll see NFT gaming adoption grow by 11 percentage points this year. “Currently it’s young adults and men in India that are most likely to P2E but we’ll see growth across the different demographics.”

Francis said that gamers who can’t afford the entry cost to play might want to consider joining a guild.

“Guilds allow players, known as scholars, to play a game like Axie Infinity for free by lending you the required NFTs and you are then usually entitled to a share of the earnings while the remainder goes to the guild”.
