Amidst discussions about expensive petrol and diesel in the country, the government said that during the last two years, a total of 2,80,962 electric vehicles have been sold in the country. Government to promote the sale of electric vehicles in the country Under the FAME-India scheme, buyers of electric vehicles will be given a limit of 20 per cent of the cost of the vehicle with battery capacity i.e. Rs 10,000 per kWh for e-three wheelers and e-four wheelers. connected to the clock. 

Apart from this, the ceiling of 20% of vehicle cost has been increased to 40% with effect from June 11, 2021. The incentive amount for electric two-wheelers has been increased from Rs 10,000 per kWh to Rs 15,000 per kWh.

Minister of State for Heavy Industries Krishna Pal Gurjar said in reply to a question in Lok Sabha on Tuesday that FAME India scheme was introduced in 2015 to promote electric/hybrid vehicles in the country . FAME India Scheme Phase-II has been implemented for a period of 5 years with effect from April 1, 2019, with a total budgetary support of Rs.10,000 crore.

The Minister informed that this phase focuses on providing support for electrification of public and shared transport and aims to provide 7090 e-buses, 5 lakh e-three wheelers, 55000 e-four wheeler passenger cars and 10 lakh e-two wheelers through subsidy. to provide assistance.

The Government of India has approved the Scheme of Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) for the manufacture of Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC) in the country on May 12, 2021 to reduce the cost of batteries in the country.
