In a first New Innovative Non Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme (NINFRIS) contract of its kind to be implemented over Indian railways, App-based luggage delivery service was launched by Western Railways. Baggage delivery service platform BookBaggage.com, launched its app-based parcel delivery service with Indian Railways on January 26, 2021.

With this, passengers and businesses can avail the facility of the first-ever app-based end-to-end baggage or parcel delivery service in the country.



Founded by Aviation leaders - Chanchal Ghosh (formerly with Sahara Airlines), Sandip Acharya (formerly with Air India) and Vijay Singh, BookBaggage.com provides luggage delivery service options for passengers – from home to home and station to home, while the passenger travels without carrying any luggage throughout the journey. Passengers can also track the entire luggage or parcel journey through the app.

BookBaggage started these services for airline passengers and now Indian Railways passengers and customers can avail of these services. The service will be provided in collaboration with Indian Railways. BookBaggage has also associated with IRCTC for the baggage delivery system for the Railways. 

Launched on Republic Day. the services was started from Ahmedabad city and the platform will provide luggage delivery service options for passengers with pickup service starts at ₹ 125 for the first bag, weighing up to 25 kg, depending on the distance from station, and ₹ 50 for subsequent luggage and a nominal charge for transporting the luggage to the destination city by Indian Railways.

Announced by Ministry of Railways in 2018., the objective of NFORS scheme is to promote new ideas and concepts for enhancement of NFR (Non Fare Revenue) and improve passenger convenience on Indian Railways.
