UST Global, a California-based digital transformation solutions company, on Tuesday launched the first edition of 'd3code'(pronounced decode), a hackathon for college and university students across the nation, ahead of its annual Developer Conference.
A company release said 'd3code' is a nationwide initiative to provide students a platform with an aim to solve some of the pressing problems faced in the daily lives of the people and to test their passion for innovation, problem solving, design thinking and programming skills.
Students currently pursuing Bachelors or Masters degree courses can participate in the hackathon ahead of its annual Developer Conference D3 - Dream, Develop and Disrupt, the company said.
Those interested in the hackathon can register at https://ust-global.hackerearth.com till August 31, 2019.
"Each team would comprise four members, including the team leader.The participating teams will be notified about the private challenges during September," it said.
"We are very excited about the first edition of D3 d3code 2019 and pleased to welcome the brightest students from colleges and universities across India to our beautiful campus to hack with USsociates to solve real-world challenges through innovation and technology," Alexander Varghese, Chief Administrative Officer and Country Head of UST Global, said.
UST Global, which raised $250 million from Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund Temasek in June this year, said each member of the top 20 Final teams attending the final 24-hour hackathon would receive a conditional job offer to join UST Global, India.
"The first prize winning team will be rewarded with a Hacker's backpack with a MacBook Pro, External Hard Drive, Raspberry Pi 4 Desktop Kit, USB Flash Drive, High Speed Charging External Power Bank and a cash prize of Rs 25,000 each," the release said.
It also said that team members placed second would be awarded a Microsoft Surface, Raspberry Pi 4 Desktop Kit, and Rs 10,000, while team placed third would take home a Samsung Note 9, Raspberry Pi 4 Desktop Kit, and Rs 5000 each.
Last September, UST Global acquired SeviTech Systems, a Bengaluru-based chip design (VLSI) services company and a leading application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) design solutions firm.
