Within few days after Indian government released India's first Drone Policy & Regulations, a Mumbai-based drone flight training and drone/UAV services startup Droni Tech has secured $500,000 in seed funding from Eagle Group and other unnamed angel investors.
The startup will use the freshly raised capital to drive research and development in Mumbai and the United States as well as to ramp up growth through sales and marketing, reported VCCircle.
Droni Tech is a sub-brand of the parent company Drovation Software Solutions Pvt. Ltd., which was founded this year by Onkar Bhosle, Rohit Shirke, Chirag Patel and Anisha Bhosle. Essentially, Droni Tech train and certify students to fly Drones/UAVs safely via short courses consisting a standard operating procedure. Students are given theoretical training in classrooms along with on-ground practical field flying experience. additionally, the startup also offers Droni-based services including aerial imagery, surveillance and reporting important key data for businesses.
Droni is also developing a prototype UAV under its flagship for industrial purposes, the working model of which will be launched soon.
Notably, Droni co-founder Onkar Bhosle was co-founder of SaaS startup Customer360, which was acquired by Interactive Intelligence, a US-based software firm, in 2015.

While, Rohit Shirke is an avid Drone Pilot with 10+ years of business development experience in corporate domain in India and Globe. Chirag Patel is also a Drone flying professional expert having implemented numerous projects across the globe.
Onkar Bhosle, Co-founder, Droni Tech, said, “In 2018, we will focus our energies on a few priority markets like India, the US and Canada. In 2019, the company looks to expand beyond these markets globally.”
Onkar Bhosle added, “Our vision is for drones to manage agriculture farms and other applications on their own, better than humans. Right now, each data point of flying drones is transmitted on dashboard in real time. In Phase-III of our product, we would enter the exciting phase of automated decision-making by the machine.”
Early this year, Udacity India has launched its Nanodegree program for flying cars and drone technology. For this, Udacity partnered with Mumbai-based Quidich to be the hiring partner for this Nanodegree in India. Quidich has been using drones in India to create extraordinary aerial cinematography, aerial visual displays, and project/real-estate surveying.
In July, Mohandas Pai-backed commercial drone technology startup, Aarav Unmanned Systems (AUS), grabbed new clients - Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) and Thematic Infotech Private Limited, to offer an end-to-end drone based solutions to a wide range of sectors including mapping roads, canals, opencast mines, electric lines etc.
In February, an IIT-Madras incubated marine robotics startup, Planys Technologies, had raised ₹6.78 Cr from Kris Gopalakrishnan along with other investors including Pratithi Investment Trust, MEMG (Manipal Education and Medical Group) Family Office, and some HNIs including S Gopal, former director of Chemplast Sanmar.
