Tech giant Google's Project Tango, which is considered as the biggest thing to have happened to smartphone technology in a few years, is finally in India. Renewate, a Pune-based tech startup, has recently launched an app for Google Tango that aims to help property owners, contractors and interior designers visualise all the renovation requirements beforehand via utilising the power of Augmented Reality (AR) technology.

With the AR app, Renewate has become the first company from India to have launched an app for Google Tango.

Talking to digit.in, Debashree Ghatak, architect and co-founder, Renewate explained that they were inspired to come with the Renewate AR app when they realised that even though there were innumerable design softwares available to architects and interior designers, one of the biggest challenge that they were still facing was to showcase their design concepts to their clients in real-time. In addition to this, almost all the design softwares and apps being used by Indian architects and interior designers are for western markets, hence do not contain the required features to be useful for the Indian subcontinent.

In order to use the app, one just needs to download it from the Play Store, and then point their Tango enabled device at a certain section of the house and add electrical devices, paint schemes, tiles and much more. The app will allow people to understand how the new additions would fit in with the already available overall design and aesthetics of the house/room.

Currently compatible with Tango-enabled devices like the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro, the Renewate AR app will also be compatible with the much awaited Asus ZenFone AR.

Announced early in 2014 and developed by Google's Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) team, Project Tango is tech giant's Google attempt to get our mobile phones and tablets see our surroundings the same way that we see.
