Indian Angel Network Fund today announced the appointment of Ex Cisco Director Pratik Bose as Managing Partner. An MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business and MS from Johns Hopkins University, Pratik has over 20 years of experience and most recently was with Cisco Corporate Development where he oversaw Private Equity Investments, Mergers & Acquisitions and Inorganic Strategy in the Asia Pacific and Japan region, which included Australia, Japan, Korea, India, and South-East Asia. He has also been an entrepreneur in IoT (Eka Systems) and Space & Satellite Systems (Altigy Networks) areas and a space and satellite network and telecommunications engineer in Comsat Labs(acquired by Lockheed Martin).

The Indian Angel Networks vision to create the largest horizontal platform for seed/early stage investments has gotten off to a flying start. The IAN Fund just did a first close of Rs 175 Cr and has already made 3 investment commitments. Industry luminaries such as Kris Gopalakrishnan, Dr Devi Shetty and Sunil Munjal have come on the advisory board and marquee entrepreneurs such as Raman Roy, Ajai Chowdhry and Saurabh Srivastava on the Investment Committee.

IAN will deploy the maiden fund to invest in early-stage startups and to make follow-on investments via its angel network. The recently announced fund is sector-agnostic and will specifically focus on areas including SaaS, marketplaces, fintech, big data, artificial intelligence, and hardware The firm will also use the fund to co-invest with other venture capital firms in their domain areas.
